I see many job ads asking for last drawn salary but I don't feel like disclosing such info. Will this impact my job application? How do I get pass this professionally? Following article is useful but I believes it only applicable during interview: http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/career-experts-pa...y_quot_test-111 Thanks in advance. |

@dreamer
Have you personally went up to your boss and ask for an increment? If yes, were you successful? Why were you successful/unsuccessful ? OR Since you are in a managerial position, has anyone came up to you and ask for an increment? What were among the questions you asked them why they want an increment? The point I'm asking this questions is to anticipate and understand how employers react to situations like this. Since you pointed out that we do not need to write a letter to our employers but instead go up to them and ask for it, I assume you may have some experience in this matter. Hope you can share it with us in detail. Thanks |

Given that I am a key person in making this happen, I pointed out this to our GM and said that I deserve a pay raise plus bonus. This is NOT in the right time of the year for pay raise. So, I got my pay raise later. However, I got a SPECIAL BONUS out of this. YOU need to be able to justify and quantify YOUR CONTRIBUTION to the company success. Dreamer |

QUOTE(valee @ Aug 10 2007, 07:11 PM) Never rush in getting a job. I felt exactly the same way, was feeling kinda rushed to get a job. But then when I came across what you said, it made a lot of sense.. luckily i found this Don't feel compelled to get a job asap, think first before landing into the job. If the interviewer/your future employer looks down on you or say things that are meant to down grade you and questioned your qualification, never take up the job. I have friends who are pressured to get a job and despite the harsh things that the interviewer said to him, took up the job. Besides him, there are a group of others who took up the job with him. Now they are all under a contract that is unfair to them and are constantly threaten if they are said to have under-performed. Being stuck in a place you don't enjoy especially having harsh and unkind words said to you is surely not the job you want to land up with. The interviewer made them believe that they are very lucky ones be choosen and how many others out there who are jobless. How many of those out there would hoped for this job. How thankful they should be because the company is willing to take them. I have a similar experience. The interviewer on one hand told me how qualified and good I am while on the other questioned the marketability of my degree, saying that there isnt much future for me in any field. He told me how difficult it was to find a job and especially for someone with a degree in physics like myself. How futureless I would be out there. That was my first interview after I graduated. Imagine, anyone who just got of school, desperate out for a job, uncertain about their career path. Then someone so manipulative came in, talk all these things into their head. You can just easily walked out of the place, thinking about how useless you are in your current state. And the pay that comes with the job was so little. Thank God I did not take it up. As I was going back, I felt so terrible but I cannot accept that my life is so restricted, that I am helpless in where I am. Two weeks later I got a job that pays 75% more. All my interviews, I got the job and they all paid equally well. And six months later, I got another job that pays me double! If I were to listen to that person, I would definately be helpless and in misery. So... NEVER rush. NEVER let others make you feel helpless and useless. NEVER give up Keep on trying Dont restrict yourself And BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! Good luck & stay confident |

A year is not a very long time. I will remember that our pay/terms are not good enough for you. As such I will not call you for an interview.
