or try downloading full 1.3 patch and then 1.3->1.4 patch and see how.

This game is really pissing me off...I want to start playing again, so I installed a Clean BF2 (ori), then I installed Special Forces (Original), then I ran the 1.4 FULL patch. Everything seemed to go find, but when I log in, the version number in the top right corner gives me my version as 1.1.something! It should be 1.4 isn't it? The lowest ping server I can find is 1821ms, so I'm guessing those are servers running on the old version. Why won't this update work? What are the steps I was supposed to do to upgrade? This is really annoying me.

Nah, there's no problem there. The in game version should be 1.1.2963 if im not mistaken. It does not say v1.4 in game.

Try connecting to gamezone bf2 server. IP is 202.71.97.43:16567.

If you can connect to the server then your bf2 is up to date.

As for the browser, dont use it. Use xfire instead. Download and install it. It has a built in server browser.

If you still insist on using the bf2 server browser, you have to wait till the browser refresh ALL bf2 servers (about 3000+ if im not wrong). It will take a while.

i just install bf2 and updated to 1.4 on my new system , the ingame server browser is pinging the server like 3000-5000 ,when i click on the server the ping is 150 (gamearena server)

hey, u guys all pro plz help me this noob.
Recently i have just installed BF2 n patched to v1.4 directly without historical sequences.
then i runned the game. then it will appear splash screen, but once it disappears, it will automatically bounce back to desktop again n nothing happen.i opened my task manager n see the processes, there's nothing BF2.exe running n the PF,memory n CPU usage are running normally.
i can play the BF2 without patch, means originally without "rojak-ing".
plz..i need help, my pc specs are the followings:

Intel C2D E6300 1.86G
1GB 667 RAM
Intel DG965RYCK
Asus EN7900GS 256MB
250GB HDD

check ur patch ver. it should be 1.4 full patch. 530MB

no u must have installed the incremental patch. the full patch is 530MB

after a fresh installation of bf2 make sure u apply the FULL patch, not the incremental as u said the file u installed is 350mb. the full 1.4 patch is 530MB.

no offence is your copy is original? with your pc specs and full 1.4 patch there should not be any problem running the game.

edit: since u say u can play the game without patching, the problem might lies in the patch itself. the only way to test is for you to download again the patch n test.
