Think so... Mine still under warranty. Don't wanna mod myself but... Edifier HQ is so hard to go on public transport... or I should say impossible to go on public transport. Still don't know how yet. Let time flies first xD

anyone here try putting foam inside their satellites or their subwoofer? i know some Edifier speakers are shipped with foam in their sub and sats, but just wondering anyone here did it...

I just tried adding foam to my AL speakers (I know, AL forum is dead) i feel there is noticeable improvement in bottom mid to vocal area. not sure if placebo, so i will listen for few days first... the foam i used is polyethylene foam, looks like this:

I use fishy aquarium filter
I did look on that polyethylene foam before, but it looks like will do reflection than absorb to me so I didn't use it.

I had look on to this before, the Magic Foam


but it is too expensive to try, one big size need around RM20 plus. The foam does look nice and has very fine pores....

i never see the magic foam before... is it like the memory foam found in pillows? or like the yellow scotch-brite knockoff? if the first one then no wonder expensive liao.. currently my ikea mattress is that kind of material (ikea sultan fonnes).

below is the image of the ADA885 front sat. same goes for the rear one. no crossover, thin cables and thin plastic housing. so i tried putting small PE foam and it actually sound better for now... wanted to put a thicker one but no space. i think im gonna try this on my megaworks since the creative only got normal cheap foam and it rings when playing at moderate to high volume...

Nope it is not memory foam or yellow scotch brite foam. Quite rare I can say, I saw such a fine texture of foam before is in the Lamp Berger box. But this Magic foam is for cleaning purpose so i'm not sure it is the same or not.

Putting foam inside satellite and woofer box does improve, but for tuning you can't simply put too much, might feel over damped...depend on preference.

Last time I used cotton but now use aquarium filter mix with cotton, feels better to me. Maybe I'll try preview current mod sounds like, there is a lot tuning after my last preview vid.

Because I really see the speaker on its limit, so I didn't plan to go for more tuning and mods again...

one day maybe if i see some aquarium filter i try to get some for my speakers...

now im waiting for optical to coaxial spdif converter, so i can try to see if using dolby digital in ada885 is better than analog through the realtek alc888s.

do you stuff aquarium filter behind the M3300 satellites? the sats already very thin, i wonder if can put some thick foam behind the driver.

Digital from onboard sound card i'm not sure about it, can be worst can be better, i'm not sure how is your result...

Because I had did some research before, that a digital data from SPDIF from digital source is not nice square wave, some is worst than analogue because it introduce huge amount of jitter. Optical as transfer said to be very good, but there might be a big problem on light source has response, introduce jitter too.

I stuffed aquarium filter at sideway in the enclosure, meaning the basket holes is cover with the filter but the rear are not. The basket 'spoke' is tied with cotton foam, prevent early reflection.

Yea it is overkill mod already lol...because I did all my experiment on it...but i really like it because it will gives out emotional feel from the music although the tone is not good.

Just stole my mom KEF 8" subwoofer and its SO MUCH BETTER.

ain't that impressive afterall but it's still a good speaker (that costs $$ )
indeed S2000 needs a subwoofer to go along or the bass will turn really muddy if played above moderate volume

For RM999, nothing much to complain. Better than those rubbish 3" tiny speakers.

wonder when will they release something better than the s730 O.O

I'm guessing Edifier had improved the subwoofer power on C5 more compared to the weak C3

I'm looking forward to the new successor of S730... but I don't think any new stuff will come out
