well i read some reviews that the bass is not that powerful as other edifier (which i dont think its a weakness since i also dont like bass too much....) and yes if i remembered correctly the reviews a not really that good for E3100. i think it have been burn to 500hours++ and i can only say the bass is tight but not much in quantity.... the mids are... well lets just say i love mids and E3100 is perfect for my ears...

that kind of crazy.... icon_idea.gif
*
Are you sure? Personally I think E3100 bass is overwhelmed but is not muddy. My roomate brought it here when it first arrive. Totally cover my M1335 bass. Bass can be heard even at low volume on E3100 but not M1335.

rubbish... bass in E3100 is overwhelmed and muddy. (but tight)
one has to tune down or it gets annoying with woozy bass
*
I don't feel it being muddy though. Maybe I don't think that while it is.
and yeah... It must be tuned down, which my roomate didn't think so. When he got that here, he got the bass knob on max, even though volume isn't max. The bass from it is that annoying until I asked him to tune it down. It's overwhelmed that it covers mid and highs.

Kindly add me in. Just purchased an Edifier C3 from viewnet yesterday for RM410. considered good deal or expensive? i saw the price few years back is around rm360-390 >_<

cant really track down recent price thats around that range

Added on October 24, 2011, 12:46 pm

was considering that since i could benefit from the optical. however it has a 6.5inch sub and the main reason for my purchase is because i want a subwoofer.

C3 has a 8"  brows.gif
*
No matter 360 390 or 410 it's still quite valued compared to other brands. You get nice solid thick awesome superb incredible MDF housing (including my RM109 M1335) for nearly entire series of Edifier. There are models that are not made of MDF though.

Wah I didn't know that... sweat.gif

Anyway, speaker position is really critical as I found Edifier speakers are quite sensitive to position changes. Suggest using ruler to mark the position and then you'll get excellent stereo image like vocal comes out from your monitor.  biggrin.gif
*
Speakers are sensitive to position changes. No?? Only those home theatre designed for big space is less sensitive, I mean less, still got the sweet spot for best experience la xD I don't know where I read something about this. Whatever~

Depends on the speaker design, some not sensitive some sensitive.
So need to test out yourself, manual no write about it  rclxub.gif
*
Maybe next time they should specify in manual the placement of the speaker and the sweet spot for it

Eg:
Distance from wall
Height of speaker
Separation distance of speaker
Relative position of subwoofer to satellites
... ... ...

*You know I'm just trying to make some fun stuff here icon_rolleyes.gif *

Just to share you all how I position my speaker using 15cm ruler, using table and monitor as reference.
What requires are the length a = d, b = c, e = f.
*
Me based on my laptop, speaker facing right front as I'm putting my laptop just in front of my speaker (both subwoofer and satellite) Laptop on the floor with cooler, subwoofer and satellite on the same level of my "entertainment centre" (Bought from jusco. Nice naming. Just something like a coffee table big enough just to do homework and put my laptop+ some books/wallet on it. Double... storey?? Subwoofer on the lower one but when I put my laptop on the floor, in front of my tilam, i will place satellites at the same level too.)

Basically just

___ ___
___ ___
L R
================
Lappy Screen

Nice drawing right?? laugh.gif Satellites line cannot straight. Don't care le. tongue.gif
Just about 2~3 cm from each side of my laptop screen. FYI, a 15.6" Laptop.

guys remember this song? when it says "tick tock tick tock tick tock" it should appear as if it is coming from left front, center and right front speakers using stereo speakers. try it out at 2:05 and 3:30.

if you place the satellites too close then it probably didnt sound as accurate. at very least give 1 meter between left and right speakers.
*
Just tried, both M1335 and my laptop speaker. No problem hearing the separation L, Middle then R. M1335 satellites are just half meter away from each other. My laptop, about 33 cm distance from L to R

M1360
X220
M1335

which of the 3 should i get?
*
M1335 will give you moarrrr power, louder perhaps.
M1360 is too small for me. 8.5w RMS only.

Actually it depends on your usage. Do you need volume? Sound quality wise, all 3 should perform about the same. X220 got 22w RMS but no remote. Consider remote if you want to place the subwoofer on the floor or wherever.

M1335 is the oldest of the three. I'm using it. Bought it @ RM109 with 2 years warranty. No shop offer this price now and it's quite hard to get. Even if you get it, it's old stock. It's replaced by M1380 I think...

Another thing, M1360 has downward firing subwoofer. The driver unit is exposed. Never try it before though but I believe edifier won't perform below par at its price. You should really try them out at lowyat before buying. Choose some time when lowyat is not crowded and noisy so that you can listen clearly to those speakers.

M1335: More power (30w), worst in design though, Got remote with headphone jack, old model(doesn't mean not good but maybe not that easy to get)
M1360: Least power (8.5w), for small setup/personal use, cranking up the volume won't fill up a small room I think, downward firing sub, extremely light(i think i held it before and I'm shocked... Small and really light.) Don't expect too much from this, No bass knob(don't think you'll need one too)
X220: 28w, look nice but the cotton layer(cotton? whatever), in dusty place(complaining my condo here... super dusty due to nearby construction site. Need to "brush" my M1335 satellite once in a while) collect lots of dust (even subwoofer got that layer of thing), NO REMOTE (if you're that type of person who loves to control volume from PC/laptop, not a big problem-I love to rotate the button on Edifier remote xD), there's only ON and OFF button for bass(not sure how this works...)
You should go and try them out. Based on ur budget and personal preference, do the purchase. Maybe you should look into certain models with Separate midrange and tweeter instead of full range. Based on my experience on my M1335 and M3400, it does really matter. M3400 gives me a lot more details compared to my M1335. Nevertheless, both these speakers live up to standard for the price I paid.

OMG... Found out that both Edifier speaker I got are discontinued hmm.gif
They're still nice for me though laugh.gif

M1360, coz it has good performance under such a budget.
You can go for X220 if volume control stuck at the back is not a problem to you.

Better you go audit it before made your final decision.

Edifier price increase quite a lot? My 1335 bought 1.5 years back 109. Now, the equivalent successor I think is 159 from All IT.

Off topic... Thailand flood causes hard disk price to increase hell a lot over months. Bought 1TB 3.5" half year back for 190. Exact model now sells for 320 ==

I remember Mr. Edifier is bringing another brand... Forgot the name though. What boss?? d what what what... Really forgot. Tried them out. Quite surprising for a speaker with nice design, not quite big in size, designed for I Products to have quite nice sound and certain level of bass. Mind Mr Edifier clarify =P
