Here's the review :

HD497
*
It's a HiFi headphone but not up to the reference headphone yet. You may dig out more at Sennheiser website.

You can DIY your own headphone amp ranging from RM100 up to RM10000 depend on your budget.
QUOTE(junkieG @ Feb 6 2006, 04:19 AM)

Once the bass is real deep it's already colourising the original music source. Simple word, unnatural.

I know the 497 quality-lah, (Don't you forget I am selling Sennheiser?)
SHP895 not until that level yet but this model is near to the real HiFi level.

some inconsistent there.....

you said it was a hi-fi phone, but no where near "reference" quality. now you say it is no hi-fi phone?  blink.gif

The phone was recommended at a price point of RM200. and you came in blabing about it being no where near reference quality yet. sounds like nonsense to me. which phone at RM200 is of reference quality? if the so heavily raved shp895 is not the "reference" level for RM200 phone, then the 497 would be the best phone at RM200.
*
Yes. It is Hi-Fi phone, "real Hi-Fi" in here mean those headphone really use to auditioning the music in comfort level and always people using it as benchmarking point. (This is all I know so far).
If you understand what I mean then the rest of your comment need not me reply.
QUOTE(wlcling @ Feb 6 2006, 09:47 AM)
Well, as quoted from a website:-

Presumably, the KOSS HQ1 Vibration Stereophone is devised more for loud action games and movies rather than for fastidious appreciation of orchestrated symphony pieces where the vibration element would hardly be utilized and neither would it suit such music genre.

Yup, it has vibration... lol

After all, still up to personal taste. Some people don't care the details and natural sound, they are REAL BASS HEAD they want to SHAKE.

Yeap... different people gauging their hardware with their own experience. I think my experience is not enough and I do know the price I can get for HD497 is much cheaper than HP895. That's why I feel that 497 is not up to that level yet.

i own a pair, for 2 weeks now, i can only compare it with ksc75 and she9500 and hpm70 (its ex51 or ex71 of sony ericsson), its better than hpm70, and obviously better than my (crappy) she9500. compared with ksc75, its a little better, the sound is more "separate" than ksc75, slightly more "defined" bass than ksc75 , more clear highs. this earphone sounds great on jazz and easy listening music, also on acoustics, and some rock songs like nirvana. but i dont know why it doesnt sound great with those heavy rock and heavy metal. maybe its because of the bitrate or maybe for me heavy metal music doesnt really sound great at all.  laugh.gif . and the isolation is great compared to my she9500 and hpm70 but i think that a YMMV thing.
*
Yeap. Exactly on HJE70, but the price is huge different with SHE9500...
Anyway, HJE70 coming soon smile.gif

Wah DAViS, you bringing the HJE70 in? Still waiting for your Philips cables..Why not bring in the Sennheiser CX300 too?

Panasonic is the firm sales. Many will available and I have constant supply while others not mainstream headphones in Malaysia can only bring in by high demand.

Aiyo, make sure you price it as low as possible or you may not be able to push units, especially here, hehe. In Sing, the cheapest I found them for was SGD158, although another place offered SGD165, but with a SGD20 HMV voucher (so its really SGD145). HMV itself was flogging these at wait for it......SGD258!!!  shocking.gif  doh.gif  sweat.gif

Didn't see any CX300s there at all though, and surprisingly (in the Land of Creative), not  any EP630s either. AKG K26P was at a very tempting SGD69 only! But K27i was going for SGD109......So many cheap Senns (MX) though, from the 400-450-500-550.......lots of Audio Technicas too and some Cresyns.

OK. Will know the result later. Definitely RM399 will be the price selling on the shelf, my price only will know later. smile.gif
