i had never tried casting my ASUS phone with himedia.

i just tried with MIRACAST app on q10pro, works fine.

(same quality, ease as casting direct phone-tv's googlecast; works same for samsung tablet.)

u may want try that on q16.
*
Thanks. Q16 works well with Meizu...just not working with this Redmi...

the box is also capable of doing dolby vision (12 bit color) and dts:x, ddatmos, but those are still very very new.
*
I read the SoC is processing the 12 bit Dolby Vision internally, but down-mix to 10 bit for connection externally...

...you bought the international model...all the China models including Q5/Q10 pro still comes with 芒果tv...

...including the launcher GuyM likes so much...

Just sharing!

My Himedia H8+ doesn't come with remote apps. So after a lot of testing. I found a 100% compatible app that worked with Himedia platform and all the apps. Inclusive KODI.
For those that are interested. It's a freeware.

There are 2 apk files you need to install. One install to the Android TV BOX (tv client), another to your smart devices.
Cheers!

I guess this for the Rockchip models...the Hisilicon models have HiControl...

You can also try Teamviewer...this you can control your box even when you're roaming overseas...or check what your kids / parents are watching... biggrin.gif just no volume control....

on q10pro, tested this 58min video... 14gb, dtshdma.

@#$ S01E01 HEVC 2160p UHD BluRay HDR DTSHD5.1

result...

.. my cheap 2.4ghz router cannot handle it with SMB windows over wifi!

.. local playback... with 4ktv but w/o HDR, quite stunning - deeps colors, superb clarity, great audio.

i watched it in 1080p dd before, so i know the difference!

but i know - u won't know until u watch it. tongue.gif

Sometimes smb is the bottleneck...have you tried dlna/upnp, nfs?

I calculated your 14GB/58mins to 32mb/s...still within 2.4 G, 802.11g's 54mb...

no, i haven't.

will do when i get round to it.

i actually don't do this SMB except testing. biggrin.gif

either local HDD (since i m keeping them) or direct with kodi quasar which can also do big files.
*
Yeah I know biggrin.gif ...local hdd is best...

I calculated your 14GB/58mins to 32mb/s...still within 802.11g's 54mb...so now depends on signal quality, and hardware / software bottleneck...

i already said i hv cheap router, no 5ghz.

I think no need... surely got 802.11n. N will get you to 400-600 mbps...just find a less congested channel...

QUOTE(OCMAX @ Apr 19 2017, 12:11 AM)
That's a reason choosing smaller vid size. think about it because even you have 200mb broadband line doesn't means you intranet streaming with wifi will be far much better. LOL
*
I normally stream 720p only... lol...

I have tested 40GBs to 60GBs 4k vids over network to my himedia q10 pro, macam lagging. I'm using Giga LAN and over TPLINK AV1200 powerline.

At last bought 4TB external usb3 disc to put all 4k movies inside and connect via usb3 to q10pro. Now I got more than 50 titles (almost 3TB) 4k movies tongue.gif.

Surprisingly 4k movies (dolby vision) on netflix over 30mbps unifi, no lag at all. But cannot use q10pro as it's not authorize netflix player.
*
So did you find out where is the bottleneck? It should not lag with GB Lan and that powerline benchmark at 160 mbps.

Netflix 4K is around 16-18 mbps...they recommend 25 mbps line only...

I thiink its the poweline bottlenecking the connection as my router and pc its upstairs and himedia is downstairs. How much exactly the powerline max real world transmission is vary from case to case and dependable the distance of the power line of a house and how much noise in it. But definately 30mbps unifi is not an issue as i can easily use speedtest.net to check. But for file transfer max speed over the powerline i have yet to test. Maybe later will do it and share the result.
*
Thanks. Yup...bottleneck can be from many things, including use of lightning /surge protectors, 3 phase wiring, grounding, cat cables, protocol setup, etc.

I had some spare routers, so connected a pair as repeater (one as access point, one as client bridge to my main router) thinking this way I can eliminate the half-speed effects...turns out the Lan connecting both was a bottleneck worse than the half-speed effects... lol...

Never use a repeater for wifi signal, it's degrade the wifi speed very badly. I tested before at the end use powerline as it gives much higher speed.
*
Yes it does degrade... particularly with single radio...but it really depends on what speed you need...

Up until last week I had two repeaters daisy chained laugh.gif and I can still do FHD...or 3 youtube streams...

My rule of thumb as long as your mesh / repeater network is 3x faster than required, it's not going to be a problem...

Anyways, I got too many routers around... lol... I still have 2 outdoors PoE APs and 2 normal APs in the drawer...

hmm...so far most panels I see, even the Sony LED in my bedroom, colors too forced

Any Panel to recommend based on your specs? dun want RM7K stufflah..
*
The Q10 pro is fine, not really overkill assuming you have a good plasma. Most people have not seen anything close to a Kuro or something wink.gif The Dolby Vision processing will bring out the best...

The Q10 pro is on Android 7.1... future proof for at least the next 5 years... and if / when you upgrade your panel, you're already set

4K HDR is the rage now, but IMHO is not everything laugh.gif ...I prefer BIG! biggrin.gif

However, you do not seem to play with settings and to optimize / calibrate your tvs...maybe you should check it out too... it helps the pictures tremendously... search youtube and read up on google..

Thanks I think I'll get it for the Hall connected to the home system

And probably get a lower range one for the bedroom for a simple box to TV setup.
*
Your Sony is Android TV? Can load apps on it?

BTW, simplest to tone down the colors is to change to cinema or theater color mode...check if you didn't accidentally set to sports or dynamic mode...

Talking about price, the Q10 pro is Rm600? How come places like Gearbest selling it for US$299? 😳

Even in China & HK...Himedia is not cheap, some cost more than in Malaysia. wink.gif

Which makes it good "value" relative to other markets.
