yes..i noticed they resolved those critical issues quite quickly!

my wireless mouse M215 is working..so..m going to get a keyboard+mouse combo soon..mk250 or greater maybe..

Youtube, PPS , they should get this resolved asap...although i don't use them much but others are comparing these feature with other brands...So Himedia should really resolve these issues..

Also, the internet explorer is running a bit that slow compare with my laptop (ie. loading pages...)..maybe something that could work on too....

Hi guys..

when you are view the file list by Thumbnails, are you able to see the relevant .jpg ?

i've downloaded all movies' .jpg today...going back home tonight to see if I can see the poster/thumbnail! Going thru the list to find the movie I want without thumbnail is quite a task as I don't even recall what movie was that .. lol

Ya I did that. What I meant was I have 30+ movies some r very old...without seeing the thumbnails I m not able to recall what that movie is about even by looking at the file names.. I hope the Thumbnail view will show the respective .jpg .

yes..willl check it out tonight... In fact for the new player like this one, they should have a new interface that looks similar if not as good as XBMC's... that would be a deal killer!

if I recall..the library scanning is there already..

And there are shortcut buttons dedicated to go to music, movie library directly on the remote control itself. So after the scan you can go straight to the mentioned library right away.

I think that bluebox will display some info abt the track that player is playing, it is not for displaying graphical object I believe. Have you tried pressing 'info' button while playing the track?

QUOTE(sschen @ Jun 12 2011, 01:39 AM)
Hi all

I am new to the forum.  Reading through all the pages of this thread, I am quite keen on either the H600A or H600B.  Looks like both are the same player except the H600B has a fancier front display and a bigger case that allows a HDD to be housed within it.  I will be streaming directly from my PC or a NAS I am currently building so my guess is H600A will be my best choice.

Can I please ask how much the H600A sells for and where about can I get it? TIA! smile.gif

EDIT: Saw a previous post saying the H600A without WiFi Dongle (I don't need one) sells for RM350, is this correct?  If so, what about to get one in KL?
*
Yes, 600A will be good for NAS user , I'm also trying to get a NAS soon , USB just couldn't hold that much 1080 movies.. smile.gif

Try to get from a member here, i think he is the only one selling Himedia media player in this forum...his location is in PJ IT Mall.. Hope that helps.

anyone encounter frequent wifi disconnect on h600b?
*
according to Himedia, they are going to roll out a wifi model with external antenna.. the current model just having too many issues with the wifi connections.. So, maybe worth a wait if you have to use wifi dongle to connect...

BD Player is never close to offer the same capability of individual media player when it comes to playing mkv, avi movies...firmware upgrade from these manufacturer is also limited or even close to non-existent unless you are capable of flashing a third party fw?

So, it is never an option to media player.

Hi,
BD Player will definately has limitation to play various types of movies downloaded from the net, its targetted buyers are ppl who wants to play discs than to play media files.. Main source of media files for media player are downloaded files while BD Player of course is meant to play the actual disk.. It is like having a LED TV that could so called play MKVs directly, but little does everyone know that there are many types of MKVs that are not supported ie. DTS, or even bluray ISO. So, ended up buyers have to find all sort of ways to convert files into AC3 in order to get it play. That is just an example why I personally wouldn't expect a BD player to play my d/l media files.. And also the latest Realtek mp has gone into internet era, u could stream internet movies from various sites, surf internet like you do on your laptop, etc...it is quite handy to be honest..

Happy hunting..

btw..Himedia has not announced any new fw of late....slowing down in their releases?

I am not actually building a NAS from PC parts.  But I recently bought a HP server that doubles up as a NAS server.  It is the HP Proliant N36L Microserver.  Link here.  Still in the process of putting the bits and pieces together.  I am no Linux/Unix guru but I am intending to try FreeNAS first which will run off a 2GB USB stick.  This thing has 4 bays for HDD which should be plenty for the short term.
Thanks, I just sent a PM to him.  RM$350 for the HD600A without WiFi is a bargain.

the advantage that a pure NAS has over a server-based PC is the power consumption I guess? Buffalo Pro series has uTorrent installed, hence switching it on 24hrs for torrenting won't cost too much of electricy bill... Otherwise, a server based NAS might have better flexibility..

*snapped* Does anyone know how heavy the HD600A package is?  I am trying to work out from the POS Malaysia website how much it will cost to post to Australia.
*
according to this taobao web, the package is roughly measured at 1.5KG..

oh...u may consider getting this unit from this site too.. heh

Check yourself!  For example Samsung BD-C5500, RM399.00

http://reviews.cnet.com/blu-ray-players-re...tml#reviewPage1
Like nearly every Blu-ray player available now, the BD-C5500 offers onboard decoding for both high-resolution Dolby and DTS formats. If you're looking to play back SACDs and DVD-Audios, you'll need to look to Oppo's competing players; Sony's competing BDP-S370 also offers SACD playback

look no further...we hv a discussion board here about this C5500...http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1557314

you are bound to read various imcompatible files that requires 'remux'... how tiring..

The HP Microserver I bought supposedly only uses 30-40W when idle, and up to 60-70W when streaming off it.  This is what the members on our Australian forum are reporting.  The real advantage this server has is as you put it flexibility.  The off-the-shelf Buffalo NAS is very popular in Australia as well but a 4-bay version in Australia will cost more than A$300.  The HP Microserver only costs me $199 and it is basically a 4-bay NAS.  Plus it has a dual core 1.3GHz CPU as opposed to single core and slower CPU in most off-the-shelf NAS on the market.

the power consumption data from the 4bay Buffalo NAS says Average 45 W, Maximum 80 W...so it is quite close to the proliant server...Maybe then I should drill more into the freeNas thingy...see if that is easy to install/manage... Tks for the feedback.
