Hi everyone !! I must said first I am a newbie with this new generation players.
I just bought an HIMEDIA Q10 II emmc version and just installed the 1.07 firmware.
I ve been trying its display resolution configuration and I found only 1080p 60hz or 50hz can be selected.
My first question is what about 1080p 24fps ? Ive noticed that when watching full bluray movies or mkv movies, my tv always shows 1080p 60p.
So, am I doing somethin wrong.
I remembered my experience with my last himedia 600b and I am sure that 24p resolution could be choose as a resolution.
Thanks in advance for any help on this !!

Try this.
When playing back, press menu button.
1080p 24hz option shud b there if yr player has this feature.

Higher models now come with 2160p 24hz.

this question has been asked since a decade ago, beaten to death, a billion posts arguing about it - just google! biggrin.gif

Thanks AVFAN !! As you said I found it on the menu button. But why dont put it as an option on the configuration settings so you can use on other apk players. Next firmware update Please !!

I usually play movies with the HiMEDIA internal player, but most of the times when playing 1080p mkv movies Ive noticed that on several scenes the speed changes for 2 or 3 seconds. Its like slow motion. It also seems that during fast scenes like fighting, frames are being skipped. Its very annoying. Do you know why ?

So I decided to try the MX PLAYER, and I found that the same movie was played perfect without this error. But the problem is I cannot make it reproduce DTS or DOLBY DIGITAL throuth my digital amplifier. Only pro logic. Is there anyway to fix this ?

I also tried the XBMC PLAYER and as far as I can say, its a great player. It does decode DTS and DOLBY DIGITAL but I cannot find the way to configurate the 1080p 24fps like you explained with the internal player. Is there an option or it only plays 1080p 60fps ?

In conclution, its like every player lacks of something.
I wish I could solve the internal player problem I mentioned before. From this 3 players, its the only one that shows that fail I explained when playing movies on 1080p,
I'll appreciate any help you could give me on this !!

i m surprised u hv that problem with native player. I do not get that even with bdmv files with my units, not yr model. maybe next firmware will take care of it. but, hv seen it with some other media box. as a suggestion, next time u get that jerkiness, stop it, resume. it worked for that box.

mx player is known to be versatile but can't do hd audio, a licensing issue, I believe.

XBMC... 24p will come. but really, i find 24p no diff from 60hz...

Thanks again for your help.
By the way, wich model of HIMEDIA PLAYER do you have ?

I wonder what could be the cause of this problem. Its very strange that only happens with this player and not with the others.
Do you know if firmware 1.0.7 is the last one publicated ?
Is there any chance that this native player may have a program failure ? How could I reinstall it ? I googled it but I cannot find the apk.

i hv the more popular q5ii and q16.

firmware should be 107 or 108 latest, depending on emmc or not, eng or chinese.
firmwares r all different for diff models, diff submodels.
some firmwares r not available publicly easily and secure, so best u ask yr seller who should have all of them.

go to xbmc settings >Video>Playback, then play with the "adjust display refresh rate to playback video" and the "sync playback to display" settings. Im sure one of this settings (or both) will allow proper 24hz playback as long as your TV supports it.

and for DTS HD and TrueHD, are you using passthrough to your receiver? does your receiver display DTS HD MA or DTS only?

all this china media player are awesome as they have 24hz and HD audio passthrough, but they dont give the most pleasant hulu/netflix experience...you gan some, you lose some~

honestly speaking, for basic usage, better go for wdtv than any of these media players with its nonsense problems tongue.gif
If you want all those extra features and apps....all that only then go for android player. WDTV, till today I would say is the BEST low power media player nod.gif as long as you dont need apps and stuffs

how much does a wdtv cost now?
imo, for a player just for playback, i will not pay >rm200.
i had one unknown china brand rm180, plays good, no problem.
it has been given away as i have moved on to androids.
think all androids can handle playback easy alto they r primarily for online streaming and popular apps..
himedia androids are pretty good in terms of hardware quality and playback codecs in the native player.
if spending rm400 or so, might as well go buy an android.
and dun forget many bluray players now come with good usb playback capabilities too.

no doubt android box is something interesting i just happen to know its existence recently (less than 2 weeks)
the reason for looking a new box is because my old 5-years old hdx box 'finally' stop functioning
however now my led tv does play well for most my mkv, except that subtitles too ugly and some mkv dts sound issue

tv or bd player playback mkv have this general problem of ugly subs, no option to change.

the dts issue arises becos many tv makers do not pay for dts license.

i also have a 4 yr old ac ryan. not used much now, more for storage of files in the built in hdd.

if u have decent broadband, u will hv fun beginning to explore the world of androids like i did a year ago. and never looked back! biggrin.gif

once u get to stream direct in kodi (formerly xbmc) and popcorn time, u may not even want to get and playback non-blockbusters anymore - just watch n forget.

these boxes are not rm5k or even 1k in price, rm400-500 will get u a solid one, most can handle 3d, iso, bdmv, dtshdma playback.
