Like I said, I experienced the same thing when I first got my dv6. Try defragging your hard drive, and if that doesn't help, then try restoring your system to factory settings. It could simply be that something you installed messed up a default program or something.
I just restored mine dv6 to default factory setting...but the problem still there. So far Samsung and Toshiba HDD having this problem when copying files from one internal drive to another internal drive, the Windows will slow down dramatically and if I tried loading a game(Warcraft III), it took more than 10s to load!!
