AF-S, VR, element construction --> improved IQ.

The VR and VRII beats 80200 in all aspects except price.

Cant say much for VR1 but for VR2 the difference is quite staggering IMO and iirc blitz sold his 80200 after trying the 70200 VR2 right? laugh.gif

It is like comparing Proton Saga and Proton Inspira? tongue.gif

I think more like comparing Inspira to Evo X! laugh.gif

Really adore that lens but still cant afford it atm (since studying ler sad.gif ) so 80200 two-touch would have to do I guess tongue.gif
*
Nah, Inspira to Evo X is Tamron/Sigma 70200 against the 70200 VRII tongue.gif.

Saga and Inspira cause its different generations mah~

Should be the 70-210, judging from the vignetting and background compression.

18-200 oso can problem quite a sharp photo...
nice...
longest range lagi...

Pixel density plays a part here. 18200 is acceptable on 12MP DX sensor (D90/D300). This is the 12MP FX which is lesser pixel density.

However if you were to use 18200 on a D7000 (16MP DX sensor), the photo looks soft mainly due to the glass not capable of resolving the details.

When I was using D90 back then, this is how I see the rule of third..

The AF points on 4 corners, top left top right bottom left and bottom right. If you draw a line they are 1/3

instead of taking the hoya RM240 used better go for B+W RM270 new rite?

Like I said, gold font + gold ring --> 10% IQ improvement! Ho ho ho~ Okay just kidding.

Oh well, for that kinda deal I would go for new B+W instead.

going to use it with my D90 for the time being ...
*
RM3800 lens, its not cheap! Use a good filter man. RM250 versus like RM170 right? How many % of the lens value only?

3.8k celciuz and bliz can get because they know the tauke , i think? Heng punya shop in Melaka

I bought mine at RM3950, got it last year just after it was launched not long. Bliz got his for RM3800.

QUOTE(Andy214 @ May 5 2011, 11:22 AM)
Shocking? Hoya HMC turn out the best of all among the 20 filter tested! Super HMC and Pro 1D also fall out and expensive B+W turns out to be not so good.

This test result is going to shock many...
*
The expensive B+W and so called the best is the XS-Pro line up. I don't see that in the review.

QUOTE(Irbean @ May 5 2011, 11:47 AM)
does it mean that hoya is better than B+W XS-Pro?
*
I don't see the XS-Pro in that review, too early to conclude.

QUOTE(ifer @ May 5 2011, 12:22 PM)
decide the purchase based on brand. B+W. or Zeiss. or Heliopan. or Rodenstock.

or the ultimate B+W VIP GOLD DMRC UV filter

*
I would look at B+W and Hoya. Zeiss no experience, Heliopan from review not too good... Rodenstock haven't seen them around here before.

QUOTE(0168257061 @ May 5 2011, 12:52 PM)
for what I tested/owned before.
hoya hd ring is filmsy a bit.
XS-pro / F-Pro filter ring is many sturdy and of course weight more.
glass wise, dont have much difference. the made in germany thing could let u brag to ya friend
*
I have both the Hoya HD and XS-Pro. The ring doesn't feel different to me in terms of rigidness. Both are 77mm size.

Maybe yu can test it against the HMC since you have it? But judging from our photos, assuming they're on XS-Pro, then I suppose it looks promising, or it could be the N lens  tongue.gif  tongue.gif
*
The HMC is a 50mm thread on my 50mm f/1.8D lens. My 77mm thread are all on my other lens... and only the 1635 is using XS-Pro, other 2 is on Hoya HD.

Yeap, 70200 and 85 is on Hoya HD. Basically I don't notice any differences between the B+W or HD.

85G focus slow? compare with 1.4D?
i think got some ppl try it in sports before tho.
*
To be frank I have not compared them side by side. The 85mm f/1.4D isn't exactly fast either for me. But reading up online reviews, using lower end bodies the 85G is slower than 85D. But on higher end bodies (D3), the 85G is faster.

But one thing for sure, the 85G is more accurate and hunts lesser in low light.

Then again, I've used 85G to shoot under low light event before on my D90! Why I mentioned the 85G being slow is for tele range my other lens is a 70200 VR2, that is blazing fast focusing as compared to 85G.

QUOTE(gnome @ May 5 2011, 04:21 PM)
Im surprised that 80200 two touch focus much much faster then my tokina 50135. Both are screw driven so i thought the focusing speed would be about the same for both laugh.gif
*
For screw drive, its more of the mechanism since in your case both on the same body. Body plays a part if lens is the same, the D3 focuses faster than a D90 on same lens. (Obviously, but I guess its good to let people who doesn't know this piece of info).

QUOTE(Everdying @ May 5 2011, 04:27 PM)
the 80200 two touch AF-D is one of the fastest screw drive focus out there.
its more to do with how the lens is geared.

even if u compare like 50mm 1.4 AF-D and 1.4 AF-S, the former one focuses faster also.
*
50 f/1.4G focuses slower, but more accurate. smile.gif

QUOTE(Andy214 @ May 5 2011, 04:51 PM)
3 secs??? That's ike crazy slow. I think macro lens set in full focus mode also not so bad  tongue.gif
even handphone doesn't need 3 secs?  tongue.gif
the sigma 17-70 is not true macro, it has some macro capability thats all.

The tamron sp90 is dedicated macro lens, you can try check out sigma 150mm as well if you don't mind the range as its better overall but price slightly over rm2K if not mistaken.
*
The 85G focuses faster than 105VR at least from my short experience with the 105VR borrow from friend one tongue.gif

QUOTE(Irbean @ May 5 2011, 05:12 PM)
selling at 900..
haha the 3 second just my assumption.. and yet that's the max..not at least need 3 second..my point here is, is it 85mm focusing slow as mention in previous post..
*
85G is slowwww for me. Its even slower than my 1635 f/4 VR ._. Its a prime afterall.

QUOTE(ifer @ May 5 2011, 05:14 PM)
slow or not it's not important. what is important is the ability to focus pin sharp.
now, before anyone of you guys start talking about autofocusing should be pin sharp, do remember lenses suffer from front/back focusing.
or something worst entirely

35mm f1.4G autofocus vs lifeview manual focus
*
A few factors...

1. Lens front/back focus. This will affect every shot you take.
2. Body front/back focus. Same, affects every shot you take too.
3. Focusing accuracy (lens/body). Nicely lit and low light area will yield different success rate of the AF. You tend to OOF more frequently shooting in low light than in a nicely lit condition
4. Focusing technique.

Yea I know, that's why I put a  tongue.gif
I know it should be a typo but the figure hard to measure.
I think celciuz is comparing his 85 against his other lenses which has faster focusing speed.
*
Yes! Comparing with my other lens, this 85G is really slow in AF.

Then again, this 85G slow focusing is pretty famous.. of course not as slow as the 85L tongue.gif
