On 3dmark got higher mark.. On gaming still ok.

Actually 6970 is more den enug juice for current game.
6990 jus feel that is overclock version.
N still the best selling card in malaysia.. Hahaha

Gtx580m jus incase ppl wanted to use ext alienware 3D 30inch led lcd lo.

Julchin..mmm seems im the only 1 (use 6970m) in m15x.
AnywAy my advice, I dont think m15x can handle 6990 if u r a hardcore gamer.i think with 6970m, reach 90c already too hot for me..

Kelvin, do u think m15x can handle 580.heat, power etc

Well Im just future-proofing my machine for another year. And I think the 2GB 6970 is sufficient to play Ultra on most games. Regarding the temps, I will test out the different thermal paste and pad positions to ensure it reaches 80c+ max. 90c is pushing it dy...

yo guys, im planning to grab an SSD for my rig as C: . any ideas to move my current windows from current HD to SSD w/o fresh install of windows?
*
i would really recommend clean install, make sure you are in AHCI mode in BIOS.

follow the clean windows install gude with SSD at NBR, cloning sometimes doesn't work if the new HDD's size is smaller than the old HDD. Also you might transfer unwanted garbage or settings to the SSD, there are many tweaks that needs to be done on the SSD and it's probably a good idea to do it in a clean state.

keep the old HDD's OS as backup just in case you get a screw up SSD.

I use a Intel 510 SSD 120GB, it's pretty good but cost like RM890, bloody expensive

I look at the name list at the front page. there's only 7 M14x users. Why? because it's still new?

580m... so far the heatsink almost same size with m17x -r3 la.
should not be a problem.. jus worry about the voltage supply to the gc only.

9 out of 10 times the culprit for boot slow is AlienFX or Stealth mode (power saving mode).

also use ccleaner to clear any unwanted registry, dll..garbage..etc

use msconfig to disable services and startup items

I can't really confirm bro. I have an M17x-R3 too which is my sis's but I've never dissected her system. Anyways I bought my own thermal pads last year when I modded my M15x to the 5870 card so will be using those as well as the ones that came with the M15x initial GPU the GTX 260M.

Well she got hers for cheap.
Judging from the looks of mine, I think they're 1.5mm. I got them from a pc shop which had just that last batch of them. No brand thou.
