Here my spec :
i7 720QM
4gb
500GB WD Scorpio
1080
Radeon 6970 ( 800Mhz / 1000Mhz ) . Got extra 460m
Razer acc

Yes, i upgraded by myself. Get the card from Dell Taiwan for RM 2k with assistance from my friend. SInce its the same card use in M17R3 so no issues at all. Just the replace the original heatsink screw with custom one since original m15x heatsink screw have gap between GPU and Heatsink.

I even OC to almost 6990m performance and max temp at Full load is 89-90C. Idle 54C. Play DAII, Crysis 2 at almost all setting max except shadow etc. Dirt 3, withcer 2, Starcraft II all maximum setting at full HD 1080. really satisfied and big improvement from 460m which i upgrade from original 260m

yup .. Just use AS5 as thermal paste.never reach above 90C
so easy to upgrade m15x ..plug n play like desktop hehe

almost 6990m . OC at ( 800Mhz / 1000Mhz)
Maximum can reach 860 / 1100 Mhz but too hot. Temp reach 92-93 C.
Want to keep below 90C

ive got extra 460m too.

julchin_09 : been use my sytem with 6970m for about 2 weeks plus. never get above 90C. even OC. just as i mention earlier, make sure the gpu die and heatsink contact close enough. so far idle 51-56C. i think like others and quite normal for 6970m.

Kevin..so cheap u want to sell ur 460m. I bought for 1k plus..huhu..use for not even 3 weeks...

Anyway to all friends...i want to ask bout m18x. Actually My sis stdying in uk . Let say I purchase m18x online then send to her add, she will come home in sept. Can I claim warranty here in malaysia?and will that m18x charge for tax etc when my sis bring to msia...thanks

Julchin..mmm seems im the only 1 (use 6970m) in m15x.
AnywAy my advice, I dont think m15x can handle 6990 if u r a hardcore gamer.i think with 6970m, reach 90c already too hot for me..

Kelvin, do u think m15x can handle 580.heat, power etc

hi julchin.whats ur score in 3d mark? did u install driver for m17x or m18x from dell or somewhere else.what bout the max temp? current voltage? software to monitor ur gpu clock speed?

anyway what u try to tell ur default clock is 400/900 instead of 680/900?

ic,im using modded 11.7 drivers. but first i install the default driver of m17x r3 and then upgrade to modded 11.7. anyway there is driver 6970m for m15x? i thought dell didnt approve 6970m for m15x?

so ur default clock is 680/900? so i think it should be normal right. sometime the gpu did underclock when in idle mode but started to blast at full speed in graphic intense apps. but my gc never downclock to 400/900 automatically.
what bout your temp ? i think in my case im struggling to keep the gc cool enough hehe.sumtime reach 95 huhu if not enough gap between laptop and desk.different situation from our previous 260m. 460m etc.
so do u plan to oc?

ic.thats y i ask bout u gpu monitor software. when i use old version of gpuz, it show crazy number hehe.1.2 million ghz core clock hehe. thinking of changing to mx4 instead of as5. what kind of thermal paste do u use?

Have u tried undervolt your 6970m ?
mine stable at 700 / 900 at 1.0V
after 2 hours of crysis temp 80C
Im sure u will be better since u have better thermal pad/ paste

julchin. yes i mean its crysis 2 full hd resolution with extreme setting.its playable with around 30fps++ . max temp 80c.
fifa 11 max everything 1 hour plus gaming. max temp 74c.. DA2 max 78c.
idle temp about 48c.
basically around 10c drop after undervolt.
u can use atitool to undervolt default voltage.but i dont recommend below 1v.

btw. fyi 3d mark score will be less 1 to 2k compare to default voltage (1.1v) in my case

my internet connection not so good here hehe to download 2gb hehe.yup extreme is playable but not sure ultra.

anyway to undervolt. just download atitool.( google)
then right click atitool tray icon >hardware>overclock setting>got voltage setting there.
u can create profile to utilize power efficiently.like me. idle mode. just 0.85v.gaming 1.00v.can set automatically at atitool ( when detect 3d apps the software will set to gaming voltage and clock. close game auto set to 2d clock and low voltage)
