I use Avast which can use startup scan when those programme have not yet start working.

Give cloud antivirus a try. I've used both Immunet(under Clamwin) and Panda Cloud Antivirus and they're pretty lightweight. Only a stable Internet connection is needed for full protection though.

i'm using KIS2012.

On my i5 2500k desktop and i5 2450 laptop. No noticeable lag. Its quite okay

Kaspersky sucks...dumps it in 2008, moved to NIS. Never look back. Kaspersky is heavy, slow, download updates also very slow (lack of download servers) and service also pariah..last time update 3 PCs (got 3 PCS at home)..takes forever.... With NIS, i got online 24/7 customer support to chat with. If installation keys got problem (Symantec), just chat with them and immediately kaw-tim for you. KIS Interface also way too complicated for users.

Somemore now got Lee Chong Wai and Jacky Chan photo on it. Lagi tak mau. LOL.

I bet you can feel the increase speed in starting up if when gv others a try haha..

i also feel lag when using 4gb ram but after i upgrade to 16gb ram, dun really feel kaspersky make my pc lag liao, i am using intel g620 (2.6ghz)

My KIS 2011 expires today and im wondering whether to get the 2012 or wait for 2013 depending on when it will be released...

o.O KIS king of lag? what if compare with Bitdefender? last year my bit defender works well on my laptop. no lag during scanning but this few months start slow up my pc..

now thinking whether change to KIS or stick back my Bitdefender.. Zzzzz

Scan process will be executed when we leave computer open for too long

last time license of 2010 are entitled free upgrade to 2011, also the 2011 can free upgrade to 2012.

anybody know when Kaspersky 2013 will launch? my kaspersky had expired but when i go to lowyat they said it sold out and waiting new stock.one guy said to me to wait for kaspersky 2013 that will launch soon

Version 2013 should be coming on Aug or Sep.

I be remain using 2012 until the current license expired this Oct.

If we disable background scan we might missed out some virus that infested themselves in the background.
It might just be that Kaspersky does not have a good infrastructure on the background process.
