Hi guys, say I need to buy something online in USD. I have citibank, uob and HLA Mach credit card. Which one should I use that have better conversion rate to MYR?

I saw the admin fees of both citibank and uob is the same, 1%. So does this means it will depend on the bank foreign conversion rate?

Also, does buying on weekday versus weekends have any difference? I recall reading something about maybank charging higher admin fees for weekend transaction, I could be wrong.

Thanks in advance!
*
basically all three cards charging rate is very similar. However, it is upto the extra benefits you will gain from those cards. for instance, if you are having citibank rewards signature or UOB visa infinite, then you can gain 5x points from overseas currency spending.

typically no "extra" different charges on weekend, just their posting date will be on later.

hope this helps.

Hi, What about bank charges for AEON CC? I have the AEON BiG gold which has 2% cashback for overseas transaction. Deliberating between this and Ambank WMC to use overseas.
*
ambank WMC only has 1% bank charge, no forex charge. best of all in terms of charges

So total additional CC charges are 1-1.5% (bank admin fee) + 1% forex rate?

I’m thinking of using monzo (BP equivalent) for traveling in Europe. They said no additional fee on top of master card rate. Trying to figure how much I will save if I use it.
*
if is bigpay equivalent, basically you are making a topup transaction, making it a prepaid card. so that would be the reason why no additional charges.

maybank amex now 2.60%? certified?
*
no. is still 2.50%

just AMEX method is any forex are to converted to USD prior exchange to MYR. the 2.50% is charged on the conversion USD to MYR.

People don't use amex overseas for cashback. People use it to collect miles. If one is using Maybank 2 primier card, RM0.90 = 1 mile if I am not mistaken.
Effective cash back minus all fees can be in double digit.
*
yeah, usually if one using M2CPremier, they will use VISA INFINITE for overseas spending, slight lower forex rate.

afterall, CB with amex is just max RM50....

almost all CC charge around 2.25% to 2.5%.... unless you go for AmBank WMC which is just 1%, but for mile point can't fight with M2CP.

oic, looks complicated
will see how it goes when i reach there
*
what you are looking at? cheapest forex exchange rate? BigPay then. if you are looking for considerably highest miles point with lowest forex rate charges, AmBank WMC. but if u are to collect all airmiles points together in same card, then definitely M2CP.

I am currently working in singapore ans i plan to apply for house loan in the future. So credit card transaction record is a must.

What is the low forex exchange credit card?

Is it necessary the bank A credit card record can use to apply for a bank B loan?
*
is it a must to use local credit cards? hmm.gif if lowest, big pay prepaid mastercard no extra, then use any credit card load into it... hahaha....

but if u want a good credit card with points collection, lowest forex charge is ambank WMC

Ambank wmc is lowest exchange ? Any proof bro ?

Sorry no offence , just wanna double confirm as i m thinking of giving up the ambank wmc soon
*
it is not lowest exchange, it has lowest charges. it only has 1% admin fee, and no other charges on the forex (usually ~1.5% by others).

if you want lowest, bigpay, 0%. lol

I have been using this card if the value is pretty significant.

btw, bare in mind, online foreign currency is not entitled 5x points for this card. and also, its free lounge access (with condition) could be a plus point.

Anyone got problem using MasterCard for oversea transaction? Mine local no problem, oversea it keep on saying card not authorized
*
is your card issuer local bank or international bank?

local bank usually need you to call to activate overseas spending for precaution purpose.

international bank usually activated as default

this nothing to do with mastercard or visa tho

1. check VISA / MASTERCARD exchange rate based on posting date of your transaction. link on first post.

2. use 0% as charges. get that rate and compare with charged amount.

there u go, rate is calculated.
