haven't release already v2, galaxy S power...
*
Desire HD several versions too before available. The record seems to be hold by Nokia N8 with 8 versions ??

Anyway, I hope we can get it by June. My transition phone while waiting is Motorola Atrix which I just got it 3 days ago. Will make a comparo test between it and the SGS II once I get it

so fast declare the phone is the best android phone already? lol~ but it could be the best, because galaxy s is awesome too~
*
I put a question mark ? after it - let's see the final results

I beg to differ as I don't find it awesome ( except its SAmoled and video options ). Having use the Galaxy S before and tested it with several cooked roms cum all/whatever Voodoo fixes - performance wise it still fall short from Google Nexus One and even HD2 on Android port. That was my experience and than I rated it a score of 5 against NexusOne a score of 10.

Anyway I am assessing the Galaxy Series again as I have a brief handson with its cousin the Captivate on a newer official rom which performs better than the original Galaxy S rom. I was told I should have kept the SGS instead of selling it off after a month as the recent releases of 2.2.1 has brought some major improvements. But the GPS in the Galaxy S is still unsatisfactory and I'd say is the worst I have ever used

By default, the Galaxy Tab I find even in its official form gives me more satisfaction than the Galaxy S

gratz finally on v2,
but benny, the SGS 2 vs LG Optimus 3D and SGS 2 vs Motorola Atrix processor should change to SGS 2 win
coz 1.2ghz le ~

These reviews were done based on proto models 1 Ghz - the chip change to 1.2 GHz I think is just a mere overclock of the actual chip.

Guys - I think we should cease talking about the Samsung-Apple lawsuit here. There are I think 3 threads already talking about these

Some guys will prefer Sensation purely because of HTC Sense 3.0. Comparing a phone's excellence is not on hardware specs alone. It is how the manufacturer is able to optimize its hardware with good software. We have yet to see and experienced ourselves the goodness and excellence in Touch Wiz4.0. Maybe Samsung has a winner here - but what I can see so far is not that impressive based on the various youtubes reviews
However as far as UI is concerned, it is not a major deciding factor for me as there are alternatives 3rd party UI we can use

Hi Benny

I'm thinking of changing from Nokia N8 to Galaxy S2 once its out.

Since I can see Xperia Arc on your signature list, in terms of display and display under direct sunlight, what do you say between Xperia Arc and S2?

Some the review site is quoting that Arc is having advance camera feature but S2 Camera settings is easy to be used, may we have your say on this?
*
Cannot comment yet on the SGS S II but the Arc do display better viewing under sunlight compared to my other Androids. The difference is however not significant. I am not a camera guy and I only point and click using default settings . But I do agree with the reviews that the Arc camera and video recording do look better than my other Androids I have used. I'd also say the camera/video recording is the ARC selling points besides its design.

Other than this, the ARC performance wise is just ordinary, nothing spectacular. However the SGS II can do 1080p recording which is a lacking feature in the Arc. The recent reviews at electric.pig.co.uk of the actual retail set seems very positive on the SGS II capabilities

If you wish to have a affordable reasonable price , just wait. Do not be the early bird. All early users will always need to pay a premium. And since most probably Maxis will be selling it - buy it at a cheaper price but prepared to tie up with a 1-2 year contract. I am waiting to buy at contract price as my current postpaid plan just expired, now temporary using an interim non-contract postpaid plan.

In probably 3 months the price will be down to probably RM2 K if say its initial price is RM 2.5K ? AP sets will be flooding the market probably at RM 300-400 cheaper ?

By end year , it would be down another 10 to 20 % ??

So pricing wise, decide to buy when you want it and just be prepared to pay for the price at that point in time

I have already resigned to the fact, most probably earliest we see it in Msia in June /July. Meanwhile let us just enjoy the upcoming reviews of those who are getting it in May
NFC not available - is OK for me ; not an issue at all. I seriously doubt I will be keeping the phone for so long till, NFC facilities are available in Msia. By then probably I'd be holding a SGS S III already !!

No need to worry buying phones from Spore and bringing in to Msia. I do it many times ( at least 20 times already for past 3 years ) - the customs never bother about this. If it is just one set - it is never any issue; when ask show receipt and say is personal use. You can even proudly show it. Once I brought in 3 sets ( the other 2 for my friends ) - open the car boot declared to customs - he just wave me through.

The higher risk in being holdup by customs/and tax is when send in by courier

Of course !! - you think I am lying ? You will be surprised how relax the customs are at JB - they are not interested in stuffs that you buy for personal use unless you buy a lot. I travel to Spore 2-3 times a month ; 99 % of the time I just get a wave through , meaning no need even to open the car's bonnet.

if we order from clove, when will delivery out from uk?
Use Dhl int courier, how much time needed? should be 80% kena tax 10% from custom??
Somebody reply me pls,thx~
*
Delivery about 5 days. If stuck in customs - SIRIM Permit RM 250. Duties payable at least 10 %. So prepare about RM 500 . The courier company knows procedures well and will advise you how/what/where to do it. Prepare to pay additional if you want DHL to do for you. If you are lucky , customs could just clear it

like mark as gift
*
CLOVE UK are professionals - they will never marked your item as gift nor will they declare a lesser value. This type of tactics can do with ebay sellers - I bought from Ebay 3 years ago Athena 5" mini tablet and undeclare it as US300 instaed of US500 and told selelr to open box, repack it and decalred as used set return to me as replacement set : Got it on my doorstep directly without issues. Go and read up their FAQ and transaction agreements. All smartphones must have SIRIM permit as it has wireless builtin. However if you can get 2 others to buy , you can save some money as RM 250 is for up to 3 phones. I heard the SIRIM permit cost seems have reduced slightly in 2011, not too sure as this is the figure payable in 2009. Sales tax 10% is definitely not required but import duty still apply. I am conservative at 10% - since this phone has so many new features, who knows how the custom will classify it but max will not exceed 20%.

*
Not worth it as your friend has to pay Value added tax another 17-20 % on top of the sales price. You can only redeem this tax if you depart the country. Reexport will not qualify

If your phone is heldup at customs - you need to go to Shah Alam to apply Sirim permit around RM 250 and be prepare to pay at least 10% duty on invoice value. And count in the costs of you going to Shah Alam and than to present your docs to DHL etc to clear out . Than only DHL can sent out to you. Simply - you pay all the extra charges first before taking delivery. DHL can handle for you - but you will be charge for additional services and is not cheap ; someone quoted earlier RM 300 !!
