yay finally got my tab yesterday thumbup.gif, Benny plz add me to the list.

rashad/Indonesia/P1000DXKM1/FROYO.DXKM3

If anyone is thinking of buying GT in Indonesia this info could be useful to u:

I bought my unit in Indonesia and the price is way more expensive than Malaysia at the beginning it was sold for 6 million rp, but Samsung officially reduced the price last week to 4,800,000 rp thats for the simple package same as the package offered in Malaysia but they have a full package option that includes Bluetooth headset, car charger, silicon case, and Garskin for the behind of the tab all that for 5,400,000 rp
but u can get it for 5,150,000 from other retailers.

***by the way u may be surprised to know that here they don't sell Ap sets although u might find it in the black market.

i got the simple pack for 4,700,000 rp and bought better accessories than the ones offered.

now i have alot of reading to do about rooting... and stuff.

By the way i tried rooting my unit following Benny instruction using z4root but the process is unable to complete and discontinues ......any solutions to that .......i am trying the 2nd option at the moment.

hi guys a noob inquiry, i am not sure if a solution was posted to solve this matter. plz if any one can help in this matter especially our beloved gurus in this forum:

i have already rooted my GT.
and installed rom manager...
after doing the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery i chose one of the 3 options offered to us:
galaxy tab-verizon
galaxy tab-att
galaxy tab-tmobile

whats the difference between them and r they compatible with our gsm voice Tab?

.....Any way this is not my problem my problem is in doing a backup of my stock rom........after downloading the recovery clockwork i went to the option of backup current room

it reboots and i get this error:

e:failed to verify whole-file signiture

i think this a common issue for froyo 2.2 ....there is a problem with the

3e recovery file

......any way i don't know how to solve it.i have tried reading all the tuturials that i could find on this matter but without success.

Don't use Rom Manager unless yours is Europe or USA Tabs

If you just wish to have a good backup/recovery  solution - you can use Modaco R1 solution :
http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-...online-kitchen/

If you find this link too complicate to follow, I have written a simple guide:
http://leemn.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/gala...daco-rom-beta1/

You can skip the part/the steps  of installing Modaco rom if you are not interested
*
Ty Benny for the reply i am trying to follow you'r guide at moment but i have a question:

is it possible to convert back to original stock rom kernel as it was from factory..............i mean i dont want to void my warranty in case something happens to the tab.

Sry for the late reply didn't notice ur comment, anyway i am not a Malaysian nor Indonesian i studied at University Malay and now i am in Indonesia i really love both countries. The Lowyat forum is one of the best forums because it has a lot of Gurus providing amazing tutorials for different types of phones.

Hi guys, yay....i finally have joined the OC beta 2 party
and guess what... the party rocks smile.gif

My applauds goes to "thepittbull" for his amazing tutorial and all of the "alterbridge86" team for bringing us this rom this soon. The flashing procedure was a breeze ..... it couldn't have been more simpler.

By the way:

1. I can't seem to send files from my tab to the PC through Bluetooth, there is a connection between the 2 and the PC downloads all the drivers for Samsung but i think the driver responsible for file transfer isn't provided.
(any solution to this. did any one face this problem).

2. how to connect to an adhok connection i want to connect to my pc internet through the wireless. i already created the adhok connection but the tab doesn't seem to see the connection ( how to fix this).

Install free app bluetooth file transfer
launch  this app first before effecting any transfer with pc or other bluetooth devices

ahm...i am already using this app in fact this app works fine when i want to send to another phone but when it comes to sending files to pc or recieving it gives me this error when it tries to connect to pc ( (title) service not found........(context) you can't connect with target device because it lacks of the "object push profile" (obex opp) bluetooth service) i tried to check the driver and it's already installed.

anyone got problem to install samsung kies on pc ?
i already download  the latest version 2.0...after finish download,
iwant to install it but this error come out
disk space required for the installation exceeds available disk space

my hdd still got space to install it but then still cant install it on my pc...
*
i also have a problem with installing kies version 2.0, but mine is once its downloaded it gives me an error message that it cant finish the installation. tried it couple of times even after i uninstalled my older kies.

by the way my suggestion is that you stick with you'r original kies u got with you'r phone. there isn't much of a difference and its working fine in terms of connection.

Added on May 20, 2011, 7:12 amjust an observation regarding charging the battery. once you charge the battery to 100% you better take it off other wise it's not effective to let it go on; the reason is i think once it reaches the 100% mark the battery stops charging and relies on the internal juice. different than other batteries i tried with my other phones.

i just left my tab charging over night 6 hours and already reached 100%. but then i unplug and plug it back and the battery is like 80% and start charging back and thats all when the phone is off.

by the way i already have calibrated my battery.

Hi guys, after several days of searching the net to make my adhok network work i have stumbled on a couple of good websites to solve the issue:

Ps: this solution is for anyone having the latest rooted gingerbread 2.3.3 rom and wants to connect to his laptop internet connection:

(A). u need to get the wpa_supplicant that is working on gingerbread, i got one working and its from the beloved xda forums( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058319)

1. Make sure ur tab wifi is turned off.
2. Make a copy of the original wpa_supplicant in case things go
wrong. use root explorer and go to system/bin u will find the file
there.
3. Now unzip the file got from xda, and replace it with the original
wpa_supplicant.
4. turn on ur wifi and u should see any adhok network.

(B). Now this is the most important part inorder to get an internet connection working on ur tab u better download a small app for that instead of creating a manual adhok connection on ur pc. i learned this from this website thx to him ( http://pal-talks.blogspot.com/2011/04/miss...-laptop-to.html ).

The app is called connectify u can get it from this link ( http://www.connectify.me/thanks.html?v=2.2.0.18699#basic ).

1. download app. go through the instructions there u can use
ur PC Lan network or wifi connection, i am using Lan
so i chose that.
2.Now u should be able to see the connection on ur Tab
and able to connect to internet.

I hope benny u can use this and add it to ur first posts in case anyone needs it. u can't believe how tough to get a complete tutorial to make this work.

*
can you be more specific about what you want to know more about?

regarding the root explorer.apk u can find it if u searched the internet , because its not available in the market the last time i checked at least as a free app.

+1!

I've never needed to use my laptop as the hotspot itself, but i do use another phone to be the hotspot e.g. a symbian phone with Joiku as a backup.

But if i recall correctly, Overcome already has a modded WPA_supplicant to support adhoc wifi? Why need to replace?

Boohoo.. my bad. GB no overcome kernel yet. Stick to froyo for ad hoc. Reminds me to test my ad hoc again. *didn't delete in case others thought same like me..*
*
yep ur right, GB no overcome kernel yet. plus its for anyone without a GB modded wpa_supplicant, if you have one already no need to replace.

some other users have reported that using a froyo moded wpa_supplicant with GB isn't working that's why its better to use the link to the supplicant i provided

i already tested it and it's working so far for me.

By the way, if u tried the method i explained earlier regarding connecting to an adhok connection, and still you'r not able to connect to internet even when using the connectify app.

then make sure that you'r Lan network or wifi network that you'r PC is using has the "allow other network users to connect through this computer's
internet connection" box checked and that the wireless connection that connectify app created is the one allowed to share.

why i cannot replace new wpa_supplicant in the root explorer.....when i replace it...it still show the old one
*
if u r using other app than root explorer to replace files then that what u get, u need root explorer to have root rights to be able to replace files. if u r using root explorer and still not able to replace, then u need to click (mount r/w) button to be able to replace.

though i am happy that the 8.9 has gsm voice capabilities and probably would have been my choice of purchase for the first time. i still prefer the 7 inch over it and the 10 inch. simply because its more portable and u can fully grab it with one hand, the other thing is i use the 7 inch as a phone. personally i feel 7 inch is the max size if you want a phone and pad at the same time. otherwise if size isn't an issue for you then its better to go with the biggest which is 10 inch and use a simple phone for calls.
