I've been testing this supplicant and found wanting. It drops connection intermittently adhoc and normal wifi, for me anyway but it does detect ad-hoc and connected. Reverted back to original suplicant not drop for few hours already. While it should help in a pinch but i'm staying with the original.

Note:

BEWARE when using root explorer or at least app lock it. My niece was playing with my tab and God knows what she press, opened up explorer and almost deleted a system file well.. she was somewhere in root directory biggrin.gif, lucky i stoped her in time lol.
*
thx for the feedback. i agree with you. its better to use the original supplicant if u r connecting from one pc or laptop, but if not and u want to connect to multiple devices then the modded supplicant will do fine to detect those connections.

any way if u just want to be able to connect to u r laptop u just need the app thats all.

i have tried the full install of gold after installing the stock safe v2. and so far here are my remarks on the interface for those who didn't install the full version yet.

1) u will notice that the background of the settings page is black now not like before white. i personlly like it but then i notice black on black isn't really cool so it turned me off.
2) another thing if ur connecting to a wireless connection u can't see the name of the connection unless u click on it then u will know what it is. i don't know maybe the font color changed from blue to white thats why its as if its tranceparent.
3) the tweaks app is removed, because its not functional with this kernel version yet.

at the moment i am downloading the un themed version i think i will like it better.

the reason i tried to install the full. is because others recommended it. but now i find that using the update file is better.

What is the different with the unthemed?
*
i am still downloading it. once i install i will tell u. i think maybe the boot screen is the default one and maybe the background of settings is white like before. just my guess.

Added on June 3, 2011, 10:29 pmok guys i have installed the un themed version of gold. and here my remarks on interface:

1: the boot screen is overcome golden which is cool.
2: this part i like the background of settings is white again not black.
3: the notification background is not black is white like default gingerbread. i missed it i will stick with it for now.
4: the wifi connection background is white again with blue font.

Mine only score 1555 in Quadrant. why is that?
*
try setting the max to 1400 mhz using setcpu. and test using quadrant assistant. by the way it might give different reading everytime try with different scaling although smartass gives the highest . the max i got was 2155.

when is gingerbread gonna release??
*
why wait for official release which is not that soon. u can have it using overcome beta 2,if u don't want the latest custom rom gold which is the latest one.

both of them are better for sure than the official one. Just follow the guides and u will be happy with the outcome for sure.

so far playing with the full un themed version which looks fine. but its a little sluggish don't know why and not very responsive like before. also my quadrant droped low than before even after few tests with different scales. other than that everything is ok.

my advice to those who didn't install gold yet. to go for the gold update over the rc1 rom, which i tried first and it was very responsive and scored the highest quadrant. i have tried all except the un themed update. and i can confirm that gold update is better to go with.
i don't know if anyone is facing same sluggish issues with the un themed full install. plz report back

I have switched back to Froyo 2.2.1 Overcome 1.6.4. This is I'd say the most stable rom and I must say I have yet experienced any serious bugs

Using Overcome 2.0 beta 1, bweta 2, RC1 and 2.0 Gold is just frustrating. I install these roms on clean phone ; I even reinstall all my apps but I don't know why I face occasional freezes/hangs ( never on 1.6.4 or earlier versions)/. The extra improvement in speed is not worth any more - I find this rom is unstable. The keyboard is virtually useless trying to use it on this forum lowyat thread to reply postings - I cannot see what I type, the cursor difficult to pinpoint exact location, the cursor jumps wildly - these has improved slightly in ver 2.0 Gold but problem is still there. If I type a new post is much better . I switch to  use SteveLin Gingerbread keyboard which is slightly better
Another point - ver 2.0 Gold is a battery guzzler - my usage dips by 10 to 15% more just on continuous browsing vs 1.6.4

i am willing to try this rom, never tried it before. what kernel ur using and which u recommend besides modaco i tried it before and i dont like the colored strange lines u get when u boot up.

is the overcome kernel v 2.1.6 good.

and what other advices u can spare. thx in advance.

I am using overcome kernel 2.1.6
If you are now on overcome 2.0 you need to flash JMK stock ROM using odin follow by kernel. Than use recovery mode flash 1.6.4
*
ok thx. by the way which modem is better to use jpz or jmf?

what is the difference in doing it ourselve and paying the samsung booth guy RM 50.00 to install papago. ?
*
lol RM 50 is, by the way as others suggested earlier go for the sygic aura its way better than papago in my opinion. just get the apk file install it then using aura download ....download the map u want, and start driving the satellite lock is very quick i think even better then papago.

Added on June 11, 2011, 11:50 amGuys...this is old school question....i should have checked every posting and i might get the answer....but 87 pages in this forum plus 100 over pages in the previous forum will take forever for me to read....so please i beg u guys...help me answer this question

I know we are not getting the Honeycomb but will we get the Gingerbread???? oh please tell me

now second question, my froyo is .jmk version...is it the latest one ? and on kies it stated i cant upgrade my firmware...i assumed that is korean way of saying this is the latest but would i be able to upgrade if anything new pop up ???? please advice....
*
The gingerbread is already officially out at least for Europe region, you can get the one for asia region from http://www.samfirmware.com. To update from kies maybe u need to wait couple of weeks or months, and yes when there is an update for ur region u can update using kies.

now there is a better working version of gingerbread if u like to install a custom rom and kernel such as the overcome. i suggest u get the overcome rc1 for now and wait a couple of days there will be a new update coming soon.

now if u head to the xda developers forum u will get alot of ur questions answered there even u would find a honeycomb port for the GT.

p.s: i advice u to read the first page of this thread and the extra 100+, benny thx to him has put alot of work in to it to help us all in answering our questions, i know its alot but you will learn alot and you will find the answers for questions u didn't think of yet.

Hey, newbie here! Anyone can answer my questions?
1. How to check whether the GT is AD set or not?
2. Is it the 'papago' (or any others) need the data connection?

for ur first question there is an answer to it in the first page of this thread and another one a few pages back u can try the search button also.
second question no u don't need a data connection otherwise ur better off using google maps over it, if u don't like papago on it try sygic aura also without data connection.

Hi SGT experts.

I tried to flash overcome v2.0.0 rom but failed. I checked the installation guides then I realized I missed a important step, patch the bootloader. I managed to flash my SGT again and now it running Gingerbread v 2.3.3. stock rom.

I want to try to flash OC again. The installation guide said
"If you’re already on Gingerbread… DON’T TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER! I REPEAT: DON’T TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER!!! The note above was for Froyo-based users that want to upgrade to Overcome ROM 2.x only)".

What should I do now because I saw another important "stuff" at XDA forum, my SGT bootloader is SIGNED (I see status info from Bootloader Patch). If it is SIGNED, I can't flash the custom ROM, right?
Your advice is very important for me....
*
the most important thing is that the boot loaders are not secured, u can still flash custom roms even if the image file is signed (when running the patch it must show bootloaders- you are safe). if u used the stock safe v1 that comes with overcome package then its ok just continue with the flashing process that comes with the guide. if u installed another version of gingerbread than the one coming with overcome and u want to flash overcome on it. then my advice to u just download the full install package of overcome and install the stock safe v1 or v2 because both come with unsecured boot loader then using the cwm flash the overcome just follow the guide and u will be fine.

To "Thepittbull " i have a personal request i hope its not too much to ask, plz before releasing the new update to overcome if u could state the difference between the different versions of the update files if it where to be more than one. To be more clear like in the gold case there was the unthemed gold version and the gold version, alot of people were inquiring what is the difference between both, i had to try the full, update, and the unthemed version to see and know the difference.i am not trying to nag, its just that it will be more easier to choose one of the available choices.

many thx to all of the overcome team, and for the hard work put in.

hi guys 1 small question for those using koxudaxi kernel, any one of u managed to get the 3000+ quadrant, i tried the recent kernel 3.0.8 and 3.0.7. still the best i could get was 22++ with scaling to 1.4 ghz smartass
although the response felt from 3.0.8 was better i think.

using overcome 1.6.4 rom & kernel v2.1.6 i got 24++.

i would like to know what's the secret lol

3K plus are stagefright scores, it has the effect of boosting quadrant scores as opposed to using opencore. Take note that it does not reflect real performance gained by using sf.
*
thx for the tip, i checked the stagefright option in tweaks and i managed to get a score of 3150. lol i know it doesn't reflect real performance, just my Curiosity to get the score like others.
