I'm on darky's rc6. When try to install TW4 (transfer the zip file to phone), my kies notify me that i can update my galaxy to jvh...
Never ever b4 this I can update custom rom through kies...

Guys,should i proceed..?

Samsung galaxy S doesnt have USB to internet pass through like Desire HD? i've checked in my settings there's no option for PC internet in it.
Or just galaxy s doesnt have that option?

Im using PC, i already checked the setting>wireless and network>tethering but the option is greyed out.
Fed up with slow ass 3G connection lol
My housemate didn't set anything he said, just plug the phone to the PC and select option PC Internet, then can online already.

I use optimum setting.  use strict or aggressive if more free ram is needed.

My quick review after using CM7 for a day.

- no quick dialing. any recommendation for phone dialer?
- ugly sms app. will use Go sms
- I can't switch to 3G/HSPA. I should switch to wcdma (or gsm/wcdma) before flashing CM7 first do I? Or check with this *#301279#
- battery life is good, could be better.
- very simple camera app. will hunt for a good camera app.
- terrible keyboard, using touchpal keyboard. any other good free keyboard?
- no fm radio & tv-out. not using them. non-issue for me.

None of the above issues are showstopper. this aosp rom is definitely better than it was a month ago. Will use this until nitr8 releases final 8.3 insanity rom. My current setup is CM7 + go launcher ex with Mau5KANG theme

Don't get me wrong.  SGS is Good phone but I think there is a lot of problem with this phone that stop it from being a great phone.  If I would to recommend a phone for my friend, I won't recommend the SGS as its not that good out from the box and many user just won't or don't know how to flash to custom firmware.  I personally love to play around with the software so I am ok with the SGS.  But most people don,t really care about customising the phone. Ip4 is selling so well (no.2 selling phone in the world now) because it's simple and straight forward and not because it offer lot of customisation.  Most people just want a simple and user friendly phone and not forgetting stable phone and ip4 has all that.

Yup, I must agree that SGS is a powerful phone but maybe they sucks on the firmware. (Samsung or Android to be blamed? I myself also get confuse) It's like having a Ferrari or Porsche engine in a car and yet the car performance is just on par with an Accord, due to the manufacturer doesn't know how to tweak the engine to the maximum performance. How pathetic, right?

For me, I have a thought of changing my phone to IP4 months back due to unhappy experience with stock ROM.
There is no way you are going to like the Stock ROM. I like IP4 because its build is rock solid(the feel to hold on it)and IPS retina display as well as the apple store with tons of quality and creative apps if you compared it with Android market (almost like you name it, you got it there). Well, free apps always has no drill for the developer. That's why they said, nothing comes free . However, I'm still holding my SGS happily because of the custom ROM and customization make available in Android phone.

Yup. There is no perfect phone in this world. So, it depends on what type of phone you want. When the IP5 is released, and maybe if it catches my eyes, I will switch......I will definitely switch!

So your SGS also lag in the call logs where you scroll up and down the lists of callers?

try scrolling it fast.

Hi, since we are at this topic (for a short while, okay?...since this is a SGS thread) and you are an ex-iphone user, may I ask you a question...this is a question that has always cropped up in my mind but i don't understand...

How do iPhone users live with a phone that cannot connect to a PC via USB port? It just puzzles me...

Don't they miss the convenience of simply plugging in to a PC and transfer photos, videos, large drawings or documents wherever they are...in office PC, go to a friends home and use their PC, visit a friends office and transfer file to their PC........and let's say you have a DSLR camera, after taking some nice photos, you can easily copy to your phone using USB cable....

Is iTunes really that good and fast to transfer files....and can you do it everywhere or only PC that has iTunes installed?
