geez, I still can't get used to have 4Mbps

download til nothing to download sad.gif

cos files completed too fast, compared to my previous 1mbps

I'm so surprised that p2p speed is at its max without VPN, completely different than 1mbps that hardly hit 25kB/s

now i understand why some ppl not going for unifi vip 10 or 20 =.=

maybe the time i need faster connection than 4Mbps it's when I need to download files those are counted in gigabytes

btw I think I'm the lucky one, cos I just wanted to upgrade my another line, no more ports shakehead.gif

Initially me too got the same feel, at normal browsing I feel nothing much different compare to my 1mbps as I am staying in rural area and 1mbps was so smooth. Until at recent, the sweetness of 4mbps can only be found in downloading stuffs and video streaming. Not to mention what I am downloading, but the size in GBs within a week is what I am calling as precious  thumbup.gif

Agreed biggrin.gif

btw, I'm staying in a rural area now where I just got my 4Mbps lol

Technician say I'm the first 4Mbps user in the place and there is another one just after me rclxms.gif

is there any user has less than 4Mbps? like 3.8 or lesser

Some info for those who are upgrading to 4Mbps

normally Technician will activate your account package to 4Mbps on the spot,
new account speed required a Modem restart/reconnect to take effect.
normally technician will do all for you, including test,

if still got same old speed or not reach at least 3.2Mbps or above

check modem DSL rate, to see if it's capped at 4096 or 5120

if it hasnt changed, you might need to contact ur technician or call 100 for port switching

- New Account Speed activated
- Restart/Reconnect Modem to take effect
- DSL must be rated at 4096 or 5120 or above

IM 1mbps user.. but cap at 2mbps, is it possible to change it to 4mbps?
*
you need to go TM point check your phone number to see available or not

if available, then you can apply for 4mbps, but still have to see later technician come to test ur line can handle 4mbps or not, if not pass, they will reject and back to 1mbps, if pass you are good to go

they will change ur port to 4mbps port from ur current 2mbps rate

if 4mbps is not possible for u, you still can upgrade to 2mbps, but you gain only 1.75Mbps with 2048 rate line

I can guarantee you only get the exact speed 1.75Mbps, lol

unless your line is capped at 2200kbps+ then you can get 2.0Mbps speed

no 4mbps available to u isnt uncommon

but then I think there is a reason they dont let u upgrade to 2mbps if you have 2048 rate line

i'm pretty sure u get 1.75mbps by logging with a 2mbps or 4mbps account sad.gif

*
Three working days
Btw, 4mbps not only see the distance, also depend on the phone number is under which group that has 4mbps port available, if not available, doesnt matter if you got ultra good line quality

A TMNet technician said that he'd upgrade mine to 4Mbps yesterday & I can enjoy the speed by today. I've tried speedtest.net & result as below:-

user posted image

My Aztech DSL605EW shows that I've down/upstream as below:-

[attachmentid=2775086]
[attachmentid=2775087]

May I know why can't I achieve the ~4Mbps speed?

Thanks in advance!
*
ur port is ready for 4mbps,

and you are still speed capped by account level,

try reconnect or restart your modem, your speed should be 4mbps

if TM changed ur account package at their side, it will not take effect until you disconnected and reconnect

if still same 1mbps, call the technician who helped u do the upgrade.

Not really. I used 1Mbps Streamyx before this, regardless of IP address I get maxed out speed. This is only applicable for my uTorrent with a "special" port opened that literally maxes out the speed of the connection. At this moment in time, my uTorrent graph shows a peak download rate of 450kbps, but of course it dips now and then but always get back to over 400kbps.  smile.gif
*
I don't know but for me when I was still 1Mbps, there is only one ip range allow me to download max from my favourite trackers (average 90-110kB/s, max 125kB/s), ip ranges other than that, utorrent never hits more than 40kB/s at average 25kB/s (even running for a long time, speed never improve, never get fast, obviously throttled)

and something even worse is that TM throttles again the only throttle free ip range I always use in later time,
I ended up to use VPN to get my torrent speed back.

but then, I just upgraded to 4Mbps few weeks ago, with 4Mbps account I got completely different set of ip ranges

and regardless of which ip range I have, I'm always hitting max speed on utorrent without VPN(average 480kB/s, Max up to 565kB/s) smile.gif

I never expect that though, was prepared to use VPN for 4Mbps connection, I think I don't need it at the moment smile.gif

its been 2 days now since i upgrade to 4mbps..but still same speed(1mbps) and ive made a call to the cntractor who came to my house last time and he said already inform higher-up so need to wait another 48 hours..zzzzzz

is there any way for me to get my actual speed on the spot..hate 2 wait 2 more days and inform them again if still have prob...
*
dude

reconnect ur streamyx or restart modem,

account speed will not change if u never disconnect once

ur line is already 4mbps ready, account should be changed to 4mbps, all u need now is to reconnect/restart modem, not waiting for it changes itself

*
since ur DSL line is ready for 4Mbps, rated at 5120

and yet u still got 1Mbps

your account still not upgraded to 4Mbps, still on 1Mbps,

did they say your account status is already subscribed on 4Mbps?

check with them again if they didnt, sometime they will miss account level upgrade

lucky my friend has been selected to become beta tester for TVoS (iptv over streamyx)
*
o.O, do you mean iptv not from TM?

if not many good channels as astro, it's only wasting of money, pay streamyx isnt cheap only for iptv purpose,

u cannot have good connection online when iptv is active, very limited speed
I bet only have SD channels if it was for streamyx

if it's TM so called hypptv, that even useless and pointless lo blink.gif

4mbps minimum requirement is snr 30>before cap to 4096 or 5120, after cap is 18>
If you got lower than that after capped for 4mbps, then u may suffer high latency or. Unstable frequently dc, so if ur dsl is capped on 5120, snr at least 18> and attenuation dont too high, best below 40

Having too low snr or too high attenuation only two reasons, bad copper line or any bad connection between dslam to ur home phone line, or ur copper line length too long about 3-4km or longer from dslam

*
TM maybe changed ur port accidently, or maybe purposely, you must call 100 to tell them

you were having 4mbps speed right? but being changed to 2mbps only recently?

tell them your 4mbps become 2mbps, they need to switch u back to 4m port

Hi, Would like to know why Streamyx 4 M is not supported in my area based on TM replied to me. Is it because of my line problem or something else. Here is my Riger datas. Thanks

                      Downstream      Upstream
SNR Margin (dB):  33.0  29.0
Attenuation (dB):  14.0  5.0
Output Power (dBm):  11.9   16.6
Attainable Rate (Kbps):11840  1248
Rate (Kbps):          1024    384
*
ur statistics is barely eligible for 4mbps, SNR will drop to around 24.0 after changed to 4mbps, but still ok

actually the reason is no 2 or 4m port available for u in ur area,

so they say not supported, actually is not available

As for torrent, you can still hit max speed 400-500kB/s if you got strong US seeder in ur tracker, it takes sometime to get speed up, and yes TM is throttling P2P right now,

if it wasn't Throttled, you should be easily hit max speed from any peer immediately after started the torrent task, and even seed peer ratio not quite high also can easily hit max

if u really want the old time p2p unthrottle speed, easier faster download, then use VPN as MX510 suggests.

Is it possible to request them to place the 2 or 4M port for me? Or perhaps my housing area has no 2/4M port at all.
Is it possible request them to install the port if i apply thru their website even if my place has no port at all. Thanks for ur fast reply.

not possible sad.gif, and i dont think it they will provide 4m for areas currently unavailable, they are pushing UniFi, if you are from West Malaysia, then you can only wait for unifi smile.gif
