I try test drive ASX 4WD at Kota damansara branch, the car cannot move like turtle even I press pedal GAO GAO . Rpm jump fast from 1k to 3k but speed come very slowly. I know this SUV is 1.5k compare to my current honda city 1.1k with 400kg different. Now in my mind I just can't accept buy new car 2.0 but underpower than my current 1.5. Any way will test drive again tmr with my partner, she the 1 will drive most of the time. I should book 2008 but now more interest on ASX, super big sun roof...not sure can test drive at night or not?

Ya it's a SUV, what were you expecting? If you want a fast responsive 2.0 car, the Focus is a much better buy. If you want size and bang for buck family car, it's the ASX. Focus is pretty cramped, but driving pleasure is better.

about 2k depending on your tyre brand and wheel price

in other word, the 16" wheels + tyres can get you at most 1.5k - 2k.

edit: or u can get the 17" OEM wheels & tyres from owners who upgraded to bigger sizes

Just curious, since most car dealer has this so called introducer fee, can I ask for the fee since I introduce my wife to buy the car?

I try Subaru xv after asx both same weight, I would say Subaru xv performance really power..like driving jet but don't like xv interior.

Today both of us try asx on kepong heavy jam road, we both can accept it. Hope it will be our next new car.
Got discount 1500.

Hmmm . I thought u just said its like turtle . Or u mean the 2wd? Seriously just get the 2wd version . 4wd will easily take out 15% more form the
from the engine to drive the other 2 wheel which u wouldnt really need unless it snows or keeps raining everyday . In those condition 4wd really shine

The CVT rubberband type transmission needs to be driven differently. Press gao gao and the transmission slips. The trick is NOT to slam the accelerator gao gao. Providing enough just for the CVT to catch on and not slip. And slowly increase the accelerator when you accelerate.

A CVT can slip? I thought CVT is always locked to the engine after the initial start no? The feeling in a CVT car is as if it doesn't move though.

Actually I'm not sure why everyone is so anti-cvt. Imo you are paying for better tech than a conventional auto. Firstly you save fuel because you maintain an optimum gear ratio and high rpm throughout. Also it's only sluggish early on because when you floor it you don't climb up the rpm fast.

However in 0-100 times cvt transmission is as fast if not faster than an auto because you get no rpm drop off when you move up the "gears". So for normal driving where you step on the pedal lightly or medium, you climb up the rpm smoothly and more efficiently than an auto.

It's only when you want to get the immediate burst of acceleration like an ah beng, then the auto can give you that. For normal driving and normal speeding up for highway speeds, the cvt Imo is better. If you really want speed and the gforce pushed into seat feeling, get a manual lar and red line all the way.

FUN!

keep the virtual gear to #4, maintain 4,200 rpm

then downshift to #2 and feel the accelration surge. fuhhhh

the best part is u can rev up to 6,500 rpm and the CVT will allow u to maintain that ratio. some other CVT will override and change to bigger ratio automatically

damn syiok.

Coz a lot of them read/watch journalist reviews and all these enthusiast hate the CVT coz it takes out the fun from a fast car. What they failed to realise is these journalists drive performance cars, and CVT is a bad idea for it.

For the rest of the readers, who drives normal passenger cars mainly, CVT is gonna make the drive smoother, faster, and more economical.

But we shouldn't just generalise all CVTs are the same, one of the best CVTs currently is arguably the new Subaru WRX 2015 that comes mated to a CVT. 268hp. One of the worst CVTs i could think of is our local made Proton Preve. (Well technically they bought it from Getrag)
