Ok so finally both of these laptops are out!

Unfortunately, there isn't a 14 inch N-Series i7 SB laptop available otherwise this wouldn't be a problem. So I call on you, help me decide!
I will be using it for gaming, for the most part.

I realize between gaming there isn't much difference between i5 and i7, but could there be a couple of months down the line?
How much difference will I see in everyday use between the i7 and the i5?
Will an A-Series with and i7 have more or less resale value than an N-Series with i5?
Besides being pretty, does the design of the N-Series have any functional uses?
Which one has an easier to open case so that I can actually clean it myself ?
What would you do?

Well firstly i5 would definitely run cooler since it's a dual core..
Depends on what programs you use, i7 would definitely have a upperhand especially on Photoshop or engineering programs which require Multi cores..
Some games but minority benefits a lot more from stronger CPU too such as GTA IV
In terms of resale value, IMO should be quite similar since laptops refreshes like drinking water..
If both priced the same, it's a matter of better speakers/build quality on N series or better CPU on A43Sv.. If your main priority is gaming then go for quadcore of course, more is always better..
Cleaning, not very sure but I seen n53 series seems accessible from bottom cover.. My a42jv needed to open the whole thing to apply thermal paste lol..

My vote goes to i7.
More future proof, and you might see some benefits from CPU intensive softwares as eugenechiuu mentioned. smile.gif
Bear in mind you will also get some benefits from games, especially RTS games, such as StarCraft2.

SC2 is dual core optimized only...

anyway, TS, both laptops will serve the purpose... in terms of gaming u'll hardly notice much difference, unless u re a benchmark freak...

generally speaking N series ve better build quality, and has more features, such as B&O audio, etc...

Well, I read from here, http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010...arcraft-2-use/2
There are FPS increase by having more cores.
Guess something wrong with the review then? hmm.gif

I would go for N series laugh.gif
As what the other sifus had said, SB i7 is more powerful, but don't forget it generates a lot more heat as well... and imho I think the A series' cooling system will probably be poorer than that of the N series... SB i5 would be cooler; and cooler laptops tend to last longer laugh.gif
So it depends on whether you need the quad core power or not... if purely for gaming, you'd probably won't see much difference because the GPU's the same nod.gif

Thanks for all the replies!

The N series looks soo much better, but at the same time I know I'll be damn jealous anytime someone has an i7 if I get the N series lolol.

Damn, I'm so indecisive rclxub.gif

Haha I'm using an acer 4736G the C2D one w/ G105M, never give me any problem at ALL.

Is the cooling of the A series really bad? I am going to be using the CoolerMaster U2 whenever I game if that helps.
I wouldn't mind getting the N series but for some reason I really want an i7 LOL.

I won't say bad, but obviously n series have bstter cooling than a series...

Asus n series tend to be heavier for tne sam web hardware offered by other models. Th e extra wei th t goes to the heatsink... I ve taken out the one in my n81 and it's pretty solid... A series, on the other hand is a budget line and thus some corners will be cut so as to keep the cost lower

My Fren have the N53SN, I didn't like the buttons on the trackpad, and didn't really like the keyboard all that much. But yea I'll go check it out. The speakers I thought were pretty good though, and it does look a whole lot sexier

Yea I think I'm going A-series with the i7, if I was gonna go i5 I would rather save my $$$ and get the Acer TimelineX

Quick clarification, the heatsink is on the processor or the GPU? Because I've never had my processor overheat on a laptop, but the GPU frequently does.

From the graph, by having 2 cores, minimum fps is 66 while maximum is 78.
By having 4 cores, minimum fps is 71, while maximum is 89.

Truth is, eventhough you have 2 cores, you can compensate it by having high clock speed, that's why by OCing, the FPS produced will be more or less the same. (that's from that page as well, I didn't made up facts smile.gif )
