For now I've checked with various suppliers. None in sight yet.

I might be going to Singapore soon. Will check if there's any and update here.

just got back from singapore today...

No third party battery as yet.
cheap silicone gel covers = similar style to mooworks but without screen protector, around SGD12.
Casemate casings, cheapest found @ Blackberry shop @ Funan Digital mall. Barely There series SGD32 if not mistaken, Tough Casing SGD38, leather pouch, if not mistaken SGD48.

didn't bought any of them..

Hmmm.... Looks like the key to long lasting batt life for 9900 is to disable 3G.

Curiously, I am trying to convince myself to switch from an iPhone to a Blackberry especially the 9900 drool.gif, anyway assuming I am planning to turn on 2G to conserve battery, I was told about an issue where I am unable to retrieve messages or calls when 2G is active. Does it mean if I turn on 2G 24/7 as a result I am unable to receive calls? I am kinda new into this I hope someone can enlighten me.

PS: I am sorry if I post something irrelevant.

Actually with EDGE, your device is unable to provide both data and voice calls simultaneously. So if you have a voice call come through, your data connection will be dropped and not the other way. Voice calls takes precedence.

however, when tested on an iphone, while downloading on EDGE, and a call comes in, it won't come in but shows as missed call.

i tseted it on the torch 9800 and the call would miss too. But i remember testing it on 9780 and the call went through...can anyone with bold 9900 test this to see if the call can go thorugh?

i guess so. 9700 could last me full 12hrs with 3G, but my 9900 would be dried in 7hrs (assuming the same usage).

luckily berry's data are all compressed and requires less bandwidth. so, EDGE will be sufficient for non-browsing activities.

but still, not using 3G is like limiting the usage experience. sigh....

Well, some sacrifices have to be made, I think. It's like how I disable automatic data/feed polling in Android's facebook and twitter clients to save power. Sure, the user experience is affected since I don't have new data at my fingertips, i.e. have to manually refresh to see new info, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Try not to sign in to Facebook or Twitter when you are not using it...

Observe and see and difference in battery life or not?

Can't do that, having facebook, twitter and foursquare always active with full push notifications was one of the main reasons for my moving back to bb+bis smile.gif

Anyway, with backlight on lowest setting (10), media card compression disabled, backlight timeout set to 10secs and on 2g, my 9900 experience and battery life are satisfying enough for now smile.gif smile.gif

Just worried about the intermittent cursor drift, may bring my phone back to Brightstar for advice.

Got my BB9900 from DiGi Times Square, the sales guy did not help me chop, fill up and send my BrightStar warranty card to well, BrightStar. So now i have to personally send it a a BrightStar branch?

Pls ignore my Enquiry, just called up BrightStar, they said is okay as long as i have both the warranty card (empty) and my DiGi bill/receipt of purchase.
