HSBC upgrading their selected credit card effective 1 Aug as follows:

* Visa Classic to Visa Gold
* Master Classic to Master Gold
* Visa Gold to Visa Platinum

Cant find this info in their website. Will it be automatic or upon request? Visa Platinum or Visa Advance Platinum?
The eligibility for Visa Gold is RM30k per annum..and now can upgrade to Platinum already.

^ you will not be charged GST anymore. Preferably cancel not later than 1-2 months before the anniversary.

This is something new. We can split the bill to more than 1 card? Just inform the cashier?

Question: the Gold to Plat upgrade exercise, do you still retain the same CC account number?

The upgraded Platinum card (from Gold) has no added benefits right? 1x point and no cash rebate, only discounts at certain outlets.

The upgraded platinum card is being delivered using normal post service, without prior notification to the cardholder (as it is supposed to be during the card's anniversary). This is very dangerous, dont you think?

so what if they know?? They can sue me? sue me for what? sue me for telling the truth??
its really a bit silly that Malaysia Banks all offer me a RM3k limit card. I am working in Singapore now.
If my salary convert to RM, it will be over RM100k per annum. My colleague same post with me same salary
applied for a Singapore card, their CL is $9k. Now i am in the process of getting a Singapore card also.
once i got my Singapore card, i can ask all Malaysia card to gtfo. RM3k CL is really stupid.

A little bit of humility doesnt hurt. Someone just need to intercept your statement to get your CC number. Things can be done together with your name and the expiry date info. And I am sure HSBC credit risk analysis team has their own reason for granting such CL to you icon_rolleyes.gif

SMS alerts for credit card transaction is now available. I've tried it and it is instantaneous! this is a really nice peace of mind feature to have and it should have been implemented years ago.

For online transactions only, or all? Other banks need to follow suit fast.

You must register via SMS for 30 sen.
Each swipe must be above RM50 at certain merchant category (ie Petrol, Groceries,..)
Each week there's a cap of how much HSBC gives out.

In short : Not worth to join HSBC insincere giveaways.

Yeah, very. Have to read the T&C carefully.

RM50 GST will be charged for all principal cards (RM25 for suppplementary) from all banks. However, certain cards or banks may have various promo in form of rebates after certain swipes, etc to entice new applicants.

Hi, i got the rebate.
Rm1.65 for petrol, only use shell

And RM45.77 cash rebate
Never went to carrefour.
Only went to maidin.
So im betting im using for more than 4.7k this months.

RM47.42 total rebate for this months.

Anyone else is sharing their rebate?
*
if you indeed have spent RM4700 and gained RM47.42 rebate only, you should start looking at other cards.
