Does anyone get the LG Optimus 2X phone already? If yes, welcome to LG world.... I have been used this phone for 2 weeks ago...
Just for sharing, you need to download the USB driver and LG Mobile update software from the website and the phone system update is unavailable...

Just sharing the cover i get it here...

Following the yellow tint issue of my optimus 2x screen, i went to lg service centre today. the technician said it's not a hardware defect, because the other same unit he showed me for comparison has the same issue, i.e. i could see a very very light yellowish tint at the bottom edge of the screen.

According to the technician, even if he changed the screen for me, the same situation will happen again.

for those of you who bought the device but facing the similar problem, i think it's just a minor setback. plus, it doesn't affect your viewing pleasure obviously.

i don't think it's so-called leakage. it's at the bottom edge of the screen, like pee stain

I am using this phone to play Dungeon Hunter 2 HD, Dungeon Defenders, Real Football HD, Samurai II:Vengeance, Hero of sparta, Asphalt5, Homerun battle 3D etc..

buy the 2x then use the spare change to buy a proper camera. even older model digital cams will pawn the arc easily

if i'm really into photo taking, i won't use the phone as a camera when i go on a trip, a proper camera does it's job much more brilliantly than a phone. and if i want to take pics for facebook updating and simple social networking stuff, the camera from any smartphone (even those budget ones) will do the job

too bad I bought it abit early and paid more sweat.gif

overall is ok, was having gps problem, but seems to be solved by the latest sw release on yesterday night.

gaming is superb, but sometimes there are still having minor lag when playing HD games like Dungeon defender/ Asphalt6, it will lag awhile (still playable though)... and I would leave it for like one min, and it will smooth back. It happens very very rare though, should be too many background software or wat tongue.gif

I downloaded some apps n games and want to delete them. As usual i hold it and pulled it down to the rubbish bin, but the apps n games r still there (not deleted).

Added on April 13, 2011, 11:06 pmOh i managed to do it manually though the settings by uninstalling it.

is go menu > setting > application > choose the application u want to uninstall
or go market > my apps > choose the apps
and default launcher > under download > and press menu and choose uninstall

I have posted the below at the old o2x thread but it probably slipped through the pages.

To the other o2x users, have any of u guys experience a bug/issue with the camera software? It seems that some of the pics i've taken wif the phone, after zoom in (just a slight zoom will trigger the effect) there will be a shade of very obvious blurred pixels on the right side of the image (always on the right side). It happens on more den 50% of my photo-takings. Good news for me is that the problem oni occurs if u r viewing the pics on ur phone and if ur using the default camera app. I have tried transferring the pics to my pc and also printed them out, luckily they turn out normal without the issue described above. Pics taken wif 3rd party camera app are also fine. Hopefully this is really a software issue and future updates will heal it.

Out of topic: any great camera app to recommend? I am using FX Camera at the moment.

Added on April 14, 2011, 3:02 amIs there anyway to create folders in the LG's app drawer? I can oni manage to segregate my apps according to categories but it still looks kinda messy...

it's a no brainer actually, the Atrix is much more expensive, and it's locked (for now). the LG on the other hand, isn't locked, u have full freedom to do whatever u want with it, and it's very cheap, u can't get anything like it in it's price range, the retail price of the HTC Incredible S is RM1999, the SE Arc is RM2099 (correct me if I'm wrong), those are single core phones, u get dual core in the LG! and HDMI out! and the specs aren't bad either, it pawns everything in the same price range. I wouldn't look at all other phones right now, my eyes are fixed with the LG, it wins hands down.

new member here n i just got thisphone yesterday.
so far great phone. very smooth like iphone.

the keypad also similar to iphone. A lot typo when i use it. maybe my finger too fat. stil trying to get use to it.

i get this phone mainly for browsing internet.
so far so good. battery wise ok la. using internet i guess will drain out the batt faster.

Heard some guys here mentioned SGS bit lag so i go for dual core. But when i check the internal storage only have 5GB. The specs stated 8GB. means 3GB used for all the preload programs n apps ?

Hi guys,

I just got my O2x yesteday as well from Sunway Blue Cube.

When i turned on the phone, it shows StarHub. Is this consider normal?

Beside, the O2x freezed at least 7 times already. The screen go black itself and it can't seem to activate when i push power button.

At first I thought the phone switched off, but i asked my friend to call my number, it got through but my phone never rang.

Anyone have similar problem? I suspect my O2x will not function properly when the temperature is high. Please kindly give some advice.

why dont u go back to the shop and change one? this is definitely not usual.

btw cant wait for the screen protector and casing!!!! why malaysia dont have yet lol.

The screen protector is already applied on the set isn it? (I am assuming that you are having a sg set too since i remembered your posts from the previous o2x thread)

And yeah I am also looking around for casing... mayb will go for idefense / carbon.

root= give you superuser power, and with this superuser, you can do many things like freezing some app that you dont use, changing some folder to r/w so you can paste things, and many others benefits.

rom=basically changed ur phone's software to other people customized version, now every o2x user is waiting for cynogenmod7 wub.gif

since there is official user here, two things i wanna confirm with u guys

1. is there really mulititouch? more than 3finger? cos i search the spec and some site does not written multi touch available
2. if the hardware fail, does the spare part for the phone had to be imported?

if normal rooting, we do it via software, try superoneclick root, just plug ur device in and press a button, done smile.gif

I believe only distributor/dealer will know this, but if your phone is stil covered under warranty, then you don't have to worry about it smile.gif

Other specs don't really differ a lot.

but the android market cant in....??

u can delete thoese thing by titanium backup also .

and flash custom rom . they remove bloated apps

for applying screen protector

make sure ur working space is dust free
an air blower, cloth,

normally screen protector is attached together with a hard piece of plastic,
make sure ur screen is clean , no dust at all, use air blower to blow if got dust, take off inner side cover, adjust properly and stick one side, then push down slowly with hard plastic support, do not use finger to press, it should be very easy, then finally, take off outer cover and you are done

I can finish apply a screen protector on a phone in less than 15sec, never fail smile.gif

Have you all know the function of Recovery phone in LG Mobile Update software? Is it recovery the phone to origin from manufactured?

Where you get such info ? Check up the doubletwist website on how to sync

No need root ; can do multiple selective sync of audio, video and podcasts. App is free sync through USB cable . If you wish to do it wirelessly only need to pay for it

hi just read a bit of reviews and saw that the audio quality is average and the speaker loudness is below average. so any user experiencing issue for this or its not too significant to the users?

and also the back of the phone.heard they are easily scratched especially areas near the camera.

I think I've done everything on the recovery mode.. Now only choice is to send back to claim warranty. Is it possible to claim warranty like this?

I've done this guide


To use P990 flash to flash this baseband:

Download the utility file below
Download the driver file below
Download the baseband file below
Run the SmartFlashTool_P990.exe application on your PC
Turn device off, remove battery, plug device in while holding volume down - you should see a software update message on screen and the COM port should be filled automatically in the flash application below after installing the drivers if required.
Select the 'ROM Copy D/L' tab
Ensure 'Normal Mode' is selected
Ensure 'Erase CAL' is NOT selected
Click the browse button next to 'CP Bin:' and select the baseband (FLS) file
Click 'Start' and wait for the flash to complete

tried this phone today in celcom bluecube in Pavillion. this phone is really super fast and responsive, everything loads in an instant. i even installed and tried out spb shell 3d in it, works like a charm, the salesman in the outlet damn shocked, he didn't even know the existence of this launcher and tell me not to delete it, i told him it's 'ahem' version so it's best that i delete it, he told me nvm he can sell more if customers can see it with spb 3d. but at last i also deleted it........

tried adw, launcher pro, and i still love go launcher the best.
ADW is laggish, launcher pro doesnt have horizontal app drawer, and go launcher satisfied me, although it is not perfect laugh.gif

don't really care, i keep my first hp until now, it's a big arse motorola satellite phone that i put inside the car, the battery and transmitter must install inside the boot, fishermen offer me RM10k for it i also don't wanna sell (they use it in the middle of the ocean in the middle of nowhere), it's an antique and i like it a lot. money to buy gadgets isn't really a problem for me brows.gif

my kingmax is class 10 also.. i noob lo.. nvr buy before micro sd.. donno which brand is realiable and cheaper..

Btw.. Any1 know a good software to convert mkv format to optimus 2x's mp4 format? I found many but they dont have specific's 1 for o2x yet.. I now using the xilisoft video converter, using iphone4's one.. but screen smaller.. need to maximize it..

And if LG Optimus 2X wasn't cheap like this, I would buy a Nexus S !

GOt my Optimus X2 since PC fair. Overall no regrets. Everything running with no lag. Screen also very nice.

For the price of RM1899, I think its value for money. Even if Galaxy S II out, I am sure the price will be above 2K. That is why I get this fone. NOwadays for Android, most of the UI about the same. Only custom UI or specs of hardware will be the different.

LG gave us quality product. So far the best Droid fone till next few months.

does it use normal mini hd mi cable? or does the input hdmi connector diff in lg? cheapest i am seeing is 1750 for ap now LG will crush competitions if it reduces by 100~150 more

I nv face the auto shutdown issue since the day 1 i use the o2x, i hv use this phone almost 1 month... it is some additional apps tat u downloaded and crash to the system?

Today is my 6th day of having lg o2x.. Got my 1st auto restart..
I rooted my o2x 2 days ago.. not sure whether is this problem..
It happens when I was checking my msg after i press the "lock" button and before I get to unlock it, it auto restart..

The vanilla edition (fr12) or original modaco custom rom (fr12) or TKROM v0.5.6 ?
I'm using the third one .. gonna flash it soon, found some flaws.

Regarding the Phone freezed and black screen. The phone actually not dead yet.

Try to give it a call, it still manage to receive call but it didn't show on screen. happy.gif

Like most of them said, remove the batt and place it back solve the problem. Rebooted at least twice a day with ori installation 10a, without install any apps.

A good phone though, will be better once this problem solved.

Me wants to recommend this phone to a Nokia X6-00 friend of mine... He is suffering with lag..... The thing is, I saw a Galaxy S lagging badly also..... So, was wondering LG is laggy or not, i know RAM is only 512MB, but can some one show a screenshot of their RAM info from some task manager??

The reboot issue doesn't sound nice so my friend who is an average user.......

no offense, i find those functions are either old / standardized (e.g hand writing) or really stupid (tap the phone thingy). Swype for writing is still the best for writing and ginger keyboard for moving the cursor (zooming to text). i can write text really fast with 1 hand on my DHD with swype. It has a big arse screen, usually typing normally with 1 hand is a bit of a stretch.

I feel like lg's message theme is quite plain.. so I found this very cool sms theme.
Have beautiful background, customizable almost on anything, font, title, contact picture display, include picture background(big or small) colors, text colors... If u are not good at editing, u can just use their already made themes.. which are very attracting too.. U can even customize each n every theme from different friends if im not mistaken.. too much to do abt it..
This app also allow u to set security password too to prevent ur sweet talks messages with girls from ur gf..

Im not satisfy with the notification message at the top of the screen..
I like this app as it allowed me to read any messages that just send to me n choose whether I wanto close it , reply or delete it.. Something like iphone's 1 but better as it can be customized too..

Best keyboard so far for me.. can switch between chinese n english, fast switch back to abc keyboard after using apostrophe..
