Back to speaker issue. 9.1, B2 and 902i r safe bets. depend on your taste of music. B2 is slightly more expensive while price of 9.1 and 902i should be about the same although in WHF, 902i is cheaper than 9.1.
went to AV Fair, B2 was sold at RM860. eyerule, how much u got yours?

have heard the 902i. quite like it coz sounds really open and clear just as described in WHF. but i don think you can push them too hard, looks like ladies.

SiriuslyCold, any idea how much the 902i costs in singapore? and where to get them? if cheap, might get them there. and any way to avoid tax?

IMHO, RM1.5K for B2 is rather expensive. But, at RM860, it is a bargain!

AVjunior, no idea offhand sorry. If i go down to Sim Lim or Adelphi I will ask for you

for some stuff http://www.worldaudiocentre.com/ gives recommended retail pricing (which means if you get down there, or email them the price will be better)

no one noticed the B2 during AVfair? but according to him that price is meant for AV Fair only. and they offered only few pairs, after that it goes back to normal.

That's the problem with 'toe in' (in other words - angle inwards). It will shrink the soundstage.

Today I had audtion on the B2 and Diamond 9.1 at NCA Audio Ampang Park...

I try them both with C521BEE, C320BEE and Azur 540C(Din notice whether which model player) , Azur 540A(Din notice whether is the ver.2)

Speaker cable - MIT

Diamond 9.1 - RM800
B2 - RM1300
C320BEE - RM1500
Azur 540A - RM1500

1. Azur + 9.1 - sound nice to me (cos I never listen to it).
2. NAD + 9.1 - the seller said that the NAD amp sounds warmer and it did as he switch to the NAD amp.
3. NAD + B2 - to me, the B2 really has better highs than 9.1, 9.1 seems sound flatter compare to B2.
4. Azur + B2 - Yeah, this is the setup that I like most. Azur amp seems is my flavour cos it is not warm and it can pumps more detail.

Above is just my noob opinions...

There are some questions:
1. What brand and how much of speaker cable shoud I look into and ? - There has The Chord.
2. Which makes the sound warm. Is the CD player or the Amp (Azur and NAD)? smile.gif

i'm using chord carnival speaker cables. the old one. new one different oredi. found some 10 year old monster cables so i'm bi-wiring them now. sounds a bit different. the B2 if u never run in the tweeter yet it's irritating and harsh.

my dealer was telling me that the NAD is very "sei pan pan" as in sound all the same. but the azur is mroe interesting as in different type of music it'll be a bit different. depending what u like to listen to, but i'd go for azur, remote control more solid summore.

the cd player n amp can make the sound warm. i tend to prefer warmer set ups

Read the WHF august 06, Azur no longer the best, taken over by rotel 05. however azur and marantz remains 4 starers. next issue will have a supertest on budget speakers!! can the MS 902i maintains its positiion?

no offence. at times, WHF mag really seems bias. But, heck it's just serves as a ref.

RM860 is for the old stock Black B2 not the Beech color ones but sound wise, they sound the same and honestly, some ppl actually prefer black as black/white/silver are more AV tech looking.

The new NAD325BEE is out but unfortunately only 3/5 by WHF.

Cheers

Yup, WHF is indeed quite a superficial mag but they do audition quite a huge number of gear per issue, and many budding audiophile and general public read them. More seasoned enthusiast usually go for more exotic ones like Hifi World, Hifi News, Stereophile, AIG etc. Another popular but more hifi-pro is hi-fi choice. Any award or big time AV shows like CES etc will usually print their logo and use their name to boost sales whenever they win an award. Goes to show WHF is a great marketing tool to boost sales.
