btw, Yamaha 663 is a A/V receiver right? i googled it and it seems to be so.

So, if i got that, i would serve as an amp, only that i can also use it in the future as the heart of a HT system? Cool. Maybe long term getting a A/V Receiver might be good.

I been looking at yamaha and marantz site and i not sure which model amps they have have preout for woofer. lol...

With a tip from my friend, i found a small HT/Hifi shop. It didnt have an actual showroom but it has mission, whaferdale, JBL, BMB, marantz, onkyo and others in there

With my friend's powerful influence (got 4-5 sets of Hifi or HT from the boss), the boss quoted me RM700 for M31i. Considering shipping nowadays. This should be ok i guess. How much these go for in west m'sia?

He doesnt keep Yamaha stock but can order and i forgot to ask the price for Yamaha 663 . However he introduced me to Onkyo TX-SR-506 for RM1700 (If remember correctly, anyone know the price in west side?)

You guys got any comment of those 2 A/V receivers?

Assuming i get M31i and the Onkyo, i would be at RM2400 with RM600 left in my budget. I asked what is the cheapest sub he had and he told me a RM1k Whaferdale. From this i have 2 choices, take my budget to the next level of RM3500 (HARI RAYA COMING!) or wait.... wait for more savings and get a more decent sub in the future, but im not one of patience.

In the end, hopefully i can get more discounts. Or i just find a friend that can buy for me in KL and bring back slowly or some other way haha.

I am not sure which woofer he was referring to but i didnt ask as i was flooded with informations and introductions haha.

As for the 606, i will also ask the tauke how much he can give.

So far this few days really learn a lot about hifi shopping. Thanks yfyap69. I think the next step after learning the basics is actually visit more AV shops to get a listen. Time to book plane ticket lol

Hi guys, wondering if there is are any AVR priced around RM1000. The idea is that since im using for Stereo, i dont need the better AVRs so i can pump more into speakers and woofer.

Guys, i was wondering how loud can bookshelves or floorstanders go without damage or sound quality loss?

How loud is too loud for a particular speaker?

What would you hear when the speakers is reaching its limit?

Can someone who has experiece with this 3 speakers tell me the general comparison of sound signature of these 3 speakers and whether they are hard to push and which is more powerful (i know quality more important but there are time where i just wanna jump up and dance ) (Im using for stereo music and currently seriously considering Rotel RA-04)

1. Monitor Audio BR2
2. Mission M33i (I have tried the M31i before, love it but think its a bit weak for my room)
3. Mourdant-Short 904i

Side question, would adding a subwoofer into the above be good for music? (Rotel>Sub>Speaker setup)
Anyone got any review for RA-04?

My room is proly about 5m x 5m more or less. Thats why i was thinking bookshelf is too small.

Yes from what i heard when audioning my friends M31i, the bass is quite nice without sub. It would be sufficient for my normal music.

But is it enough for hip hop, hard rock, crunk? Sadly i didnt manage to audition those genre.

Basically what i want to know, of the 3 speakers i mentioned, which would sound better?

Haha, so far im just gaining knowledge for my first hifi set. Dont have one yet.

Guys, want to ask, MA BR2 iszit suitable for vocal, percussion, Rock, RnB, Pop, Evanescene, linkin park, fort minor type music?

I heard MA gold series today and boy... its too bright for me. So i was thinking if BR2 is that bright (or have bright character like his big brother), then it not suit me. Im prefer warm sound more.

Please advise, want to know some opinions before i go audition it.

I was quoted RM2.2k for Wharfy Diamond 9.5 - Even for sarawak, do you guys think this is a good price? If remember correctly, there are forumers got RM1.7k for Diamond 9.5. I have been quoted RM2.3k for MA BR5 and that why i think 2.2k for 9.5 is quite high.

I will be getting Marantz 7001 (RM1800) and Synergistic Research cable 3m (RM380).
