Don't know if it's just me but I have made an observation on another matter.
By right I remember that IPTV has some sort of its own reserved bandwidth for watching the channels right? However when my IPTV is on and watching a channel, my Internet/PC's bandwidth will drop. Before IPTV is on, my PC can hit my usual max speed around 4.7-4.8mbps for both download and upload (VIP5). Once IPTV is on, my download speed becomes about 3.5-3.8mbps while upload still hits top speed. Anyone can do a similar observation and tell me your outcome? |

Anyway, so they just upgrade it by increasing your account cap to 20mbps right?took 3-4 days. been told got problems with my account. thus the delay. btw u can check the status at portal if not mistaken. hehe. even in portal also can upgrade. but didnt try dat way. |

QUOTE(yjwong @ May 25 2011, 10:42 AM) Anyone having frequent problems with IPTV (satellite icon with a cross mark)? Mine happens VERY often... but when it happens, VOD and the interactive portals are still fully working and accessible. Same here. However here's how I solve it, just leave your IPTV box on when it's showing the satellite icon, then turn off your BTU (either the white or black modem) only, can just turn it off for like 10 seconds and then power it back on. If it solves the problem, when your BTU establishes all the connection, your IPTV should be able to view the channels again.Apparently what TM told me is that sometimes the IPTV hangs or something like that and therefore needs to restart the device. |

QUOTE(murks @ May 26 2011, 11:03 AM) Usually the call centre will call 3 days prior to the installation date. So, in your case either tomorrow (27th) or Saturday (28th). Yea mine was exactly 3 days before installation, it was on a Wednesday to they made a call to me on Sunday to confirm. If you don't receive any calls, better give them a call and find out if the installation is confirmed. |

Went to a cyber cafe earlier and saw 5 UniFi lines over there. The setup was a BTU to the D-Link router connected to a switch. Quite stable, perhaps the D-Link router ain't doing the router job huh?

QUOTE(studwo @ May 29 2011, 06:42 PM) hmm.. after reading so many pages of unifi stuff. What are you people planning to do when the cap is implemented ? live with it ? Will have to see how it goes but it was rumored that upon reaching the cap limit, the speed will be capped at 10% of your package's speed (e.g. 10mbps will likely be throttled down to 1mbps). |

The RT-N13U's pricing still quite competitive but the RT-16N and above are actually quite pricey.

QUOTE(christofle @ May 30 2011, 06:59 PM) QUOTE(vivre @ May 30 2011, 07:02 PM) Mine is fine, are you guys using TM's own DNS server? Their DNS server are known to block certain sites, don't know if they are really blocking Fileserve and Megaupload or not but try using other DNS servers like Google DNS or OpenDNS. I can access both websites, I'm using Google DNS. |

Just checked with TM and Tel 2 port on the BTU is not active and it is reserved for a 2nd telephone line (if you want).
Like for my case if I want my fax to work, I will have to purchase a splitter and hook both the DECT phone and fax to Tel 1 port. |

QUOTE(fx_53_xt @ May 31 2011, 01:59 PM) A little off-topic. As long as your local network is gigabit, yes all local devices will get gigabit speeds within your own local network.I'm getting a NAS for downloading (fyi to all unifi user, viewnet lowyat selling seagate blackarmor NAS for RM299 only). Now i would like a gigabit network but apparently all my routers on hand is only 100 base. Lets say i do not want to change the routers, can i just get a gigabit switch, plug it into the router, and my PC(s)/NAS connected to the gigabit switch so they get local gigabit speed? Powered on my IPTV STB, downloaded a new update and now I'm watching the new channels. Although the Nat Geo Adventure channel is in HD, the quality is just disappointing. Just now a program wasn't even in full screen.
But I must say the MTVN in HD is quite good, maybe because Astro still doesn't have any HD channel for MTV. This post has been edited by OKLY: Jun 1 2011, 12:00 PM |

QUOTE(retna2010 @ Jun 2 2011, 03:03 PM) I hope someone here can give me some advice. I have applied for Unifi and I asked them to come now as my house is under reno so that all the wiring will be hidden but those clowns say that they will only come when the reno is OVER. aiyah. I have told my contractor about this and he doesn't know what type of cables they use. So I asked him to lay a hidden conduit near my tv so tm guys can pull the cable thru it. My contractor asked me what size conduit I want?? When I asked TM they said they will come after reno is completed!!! Its like talking to a brick wall. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Anyone can help. I have googled and tried to find an answer but so far no use. HELP!! You might want to try contacting the author of this blog and ask for his advice on how he got his internal wiring done.http://www.shaolintiger.com/2010/12/29/the...-my-experience/ |
