Luckily you tell me or else i'm going to run TMunifi marathon race again. After some diagnostic and trial with the configuration by adhering to the Dlink manual, my internet disconnection and slow speed due to wireless transmision is now back to normal.

why and how?

Concrete wall thickness, angles , distance and RF (radio frequency) could be the main factor in reducing the strength. Most of the contractors usually install router and telephone side by side. I haven't adjusted my phone as yet but the manual did highlighted the consequences. Even the false advert about Superb strength and Wireless N and Dlink dares to claim that their product won Awards but somehow they still warn users of all this stuff. In the Diagram itself, they were showing strong signal for double storey house. In their manual , they stated "depending on what house u r staying, Double storey house is weak and they suggested a repeater." What an absurd technology claim and too bad that these magazine reviewers who awarded them knows nothing about it.

In the Dlink Configuration setup, Advanced Wireless sub menu, my
Wireless Mode : 802.11 g/b (setup by TM contractor)
Later I setup up to Wireless Mode : 802.11 N

The reason for this is to make the router compatibility for wider coverage in the house otherwise what for to install Wireless N router, right? The side effect is that Iphone Wireless is Disable. Than I readjust to
Wireless Mode: 802.11 n/g/b
Bandwith : (auto)20mh/40mhg
woila! my iphone wifi back in business and im still testing the stability of the connection.

May i know if this is the same thing you guys experience and did it helps to improve the coverage for those of you that kept your modem /router upstairs the house and whether i am right to do it this way..
Those unifi supports call me up twice and close my ticket twice. They promised me to sent the guideline and they didn't so i DIY.
*
Hmm... Also change the mode to 20MHz only. Much stable!

notworthy.gif will test on it and distance my telephone set farther apart from the router for signal interference. My final option is to get a repeater from D-Link website. Any recommendation for a repeater or i must get back the same D-link brand?
*
If you were to get the repeater, you might as well just get the highly-recommended-official-tp-link-created-firmware-flashed-tp-link-tl-wr841nd. Erm... A bit bored studying... creating something annoying here xD. Erm... Just get the router form RM89~95 from lowyat and got to tp-link service centre at top of lyp to get flashed for free. You can ask the feedback here. It has got much better signal strength and stability. I don't use that because my router so far so good. Haha...

Hi guys, my unifi just died again.
Anyone have the same problem?
It started with me unable to visit facebook. Then www.google.com also cannot. Sites starting to load slow. Then now my Internet just disconnected. Trying to reconnect through the 192.168.0.1 also doesn't work
*
Give the router a restart? If still can't then ring up 1300881221 and ask them reset your port.

PJ area... but heard from my fren .. that he check with another fren that work in astro...

currently astro n TM are teaming up to provide this service...
they are giving 6 MB line for the price of 5mb unifi becoz 1mb will be use for astro if astro is having trouble receiving signal during raining...
for ppl that don't use astro at all they got full 6mb.
*
If you actually read the astro side. The astro will be provided through IPTV. They allocate 100Mbps for each user, 30Mbps dedicated for internet and the other for IPTV. Why bother using the old satellites when astro is providing newer and higher quality IPTV.

i agree on that... still yet anyone over have try this yet...

hopefully it better then unifi... wahaha... damn just sign up for unifi , have to tied down for 2 years. sweat.gif

For the time being... TIME only offer their fibre in mont kiara (what I know)... Astro stated that only places covered by time will have their iptv service. So... I think wait till neck long long also won't get. Unless you spend a million to get a condo in mont kiara.

Hi Ericpires,
Yes its abc@unifi...and i followed your advice, and tried abc only. Still won't work.
Is the profile hidden? I checked the DLINK settings and it isn't set as hidden

Erm... Change the channel to manual mode and choose one channel that will work for whole house. I just faced this problem few days back. Instead of auto channel which has been used for past 4 months... That works well too... But that day suddenly few laptops in my house(rented house for students) cannot detect nor connect. I just simply put the channel to 3 as i rmb that channel is used before. Then problem solved... Some laptop can connect some can't and mine is luckily the working one. haha... Suspect to be interference with new wifi network around my unit in condo.

QUOTE(kemin @ May 8 2011, 05:50 PM)
Hi all,

New Unifi user here, want to ask if I can set up an internet connection without going through the DIR-615 wireless router, that is, plugging a cable directly from the GPON terminal (black box) to my computer? I tried to do this but was unsuccessful. I ask this as I have no need for Wifi, just one user only and see no reason to broadcast the wifi signal as am using a desk top PC.

Thanks for any help.
*
You can do so by using the forwarder made by rizvanrp. Find it in the unifi guidebook. See first page. But that sort of connection if not stable as the software is just for testing purpose. Not nicely done as it's not done by any company. You get dc quite frequently if u use the software (actually just a command line program). Still recommended to go through the router. You need to do vlan tagging on all the bits sent by ur pc and received by ur pc in order to connect to the internet.

Although my VIP5 seems to have a stable download/upload speed, there's one issue though. I noticed that after a while of torrenting, it seems that I can't surf the web anymore.

Doing a ping to let's say lowyat.net will receive response but it seems that all my web browsers will not be able to surf any websites. It'll just show that the web server is taking too long to respond. sweat.gif

Anyone have similar experience?
*
DIR615? If it's dir615 and connected through wifi, I guess is the problem OR maybe ur torrent really ate up all the up/downlink. haha

my hypptv setup is stil in d box at d corner of my room. i opted not to install it as i got astro edi n dun see d use of another pay tv. so u dun need to install iptv to use unifi.
*
If u're watching those free channels like tv1/2/3/8 something like that. I think tm iptv will be better right. Won't get affected by weather somemore. haha

Sounds like the problem that also appear on D-link... The channel problem. In D-link, u can choose not to use "auto channel" and choose a single channel. TP-link?? Don't know. hahaha... This may happen when you got a lot of wifi network around and some sort of interference i guess. hahaha...

Hi people, I just got my Unifi installed last Sunday. I was trying to install the IPTV by myself, but however when I tried to watch the IPTV, it requires me to login with a User ID and PIN. I wonder what are the ID and PIN, tried using the unifi id and password for myUnifi and myEmail, didnt work? anyone can help?
*
You should have received an email in your email account used to register unifi. In that email, it should have every id and passwords that you need. Including iptv email myunifi... ... ...

quite frequent eh the disconnection... is it normal?
*
Haha... that's my case also. The router got "auto restart" function which helps u to get new ip every 2-3 days. Awesome right??? LOL

You may recall when we first had Streamyx and the modem cost like RM800 each  biggrin.gif

You are right that its only a bridging device.  The Huawei modem seems robust as far as I know though.

@@ Streamyx modem RM800??????? OMG... The most exp modem i encounter before is the... Jaring Filte Wireless one. Very very very crazily big modem and... expensive. Haha
