I am thinking to attach a component set to the front of my Persona, keeping the rear speakers and HU on stock unit. I don't plan to include an amp. How will the SQ be like, well I expect it to be at least better than the stock speakers as it really lack of treble. As long as the new setup can deliver more clarity and deeper bass then I am satisfied.

To be honest, the choice is yours  smile.gif
for me, i wont compromise on quality of sound reproduction
so steering control is nth for me... i use remote most of the time...

Also, there are two kind of products can counter your issue:
1. A black box thingy which connect your steering control to your aftermarket hu
but not all aftermarket hu can be supported

2. A universal steering wheel control which able to duplicate and transmit the same signal as your remote
as long as your hu comes with a remote, it can be done...

But i'm not sure about the brand or price, so got the info while browsing mags
so let other sifu to assist you then  laugh.gif

The signal source is the most crucial part...
Unless its like most of the latest continental car that using closed-loop on board cpu
which links all together... otherwise i won't recommend you to use back factory hu

Agree..but according to him, he is not so forcus on "Pro", therefore the budget set also very low..therefore i'm asking him try to look for 2nd mid/high end speaker, at least the sound of quality is not too bad...!!

Yes..HU is play a very important part of the ICE, becoz all the signal come out from there, if the HU can't 100% transfer/read the signal from the source (CD) you may feel that some frequence were missing. that's high end HU like P80,P99, ODR, F1#, Denon Z1 ans so on will cost you so much...!!! smile.gif

my suggestion, change the hu first, skip the amp nod.gif
unless you want "more" then only think about amp & speaker
cause that will incurred more labour & wiring cost than replacing hu

use back the stock speaker??

1st of all, i never listne thar clarion HU, so i can give a very precise comment on this HU how the sound like.. definately, if change HU and add on amplifier the sound quality should be better than stock unit. the question is,how much better / improvement after spend such money to upgrade the system?? is that worth to spend so much money and get that kind of improvement. by the way, that also is a very subjective answer, as i said, some ppl may say worth but some not...important is how is your feel? if you think that is good/ worth for you...then just go ahead....

I was using stock proton Clarion. then after gone tired because it cannot play usb. Changed to an alpine, it was a difference like day and night. On stock speakers, I can say, signal was improved. When cranked up high, no mild hissing sound like my old stock HU. just pure music, vocal and sound from the signal source. Definitely a well worth investment. next might plan to upgrade speakers then amp.

Also, I was contemplating on the remote steering controls. guess we were gotten used to it and stop fiddling with switches on the HU. When i lost the remote function, it took a while to get used to. after all the infra red remote was a savior. if you still want to retain the controls from the steering, there are aftermarket adapters to retain the function. But the price isn't worth the buck. Better spend it on speakers or amps investment.

Trust me, when the sound is good, you will get high and melt within the symphony.
