Hi mea05key,
Tks for yr reply.
So meaning to say the best way for my next steps are;

1. Go to Spore for medical check up & signing of offer letter
2. Rcvd med check up result, all ok then employer will apply permit for me.
3. Wait for MOM result, once confirmed approved then I sent my resignation letter to my current employer.
4. Move to Spore, start working with the new employer using the white card, then settle the remaining procedures with MOM.

Is this is correct/best steps?
*
Correct.

Hi all,

I'm reporting in next month.

Currently looking for room at the East side. Working location at clementi.
Are there any difference in staying location?  Such as the better location.

Thx.
*
You work in Clementi but looking for rooms in the East?
You want to travel from East to West everyday?

Here's how I do it

1) Married and have kids without having a maid.
-- We don't really have much time and energy left to spend money.
-- looking at childcare fee alone will make me think twice when spend money. I gave away at least two set of iphone every month  sweat.gif  When my kids sick and stay at home for 2 week, one iphone4 go down the drain for nothing.

More than $480 per child Loh. Most places cost more that iphone4 without plan per month unless you have subsidy.

I mean when it is time for you to renew your contract, just take up a phone package and sell to the ifags. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Guys quick ques about cellphones. Malaysia you can convert a prepaid line to postpaid and keep same number. Singapore telcos also same? Any recommendation for provider? Will be in temporary accomodation for a couple of weeks.
*
QUOTE(wseng @ May 26 2011, 12:36 AM)
AS per my info 1.5 years ago.. generally prepaid for Singtel is non convertible at all.. you don't get to retain your no.
*
Prepaid to postpaid, you need to change your number.
Not retainable.
That was what I read about a year ago.
Sg prepaid and postpaid runs on different system, thus not able to retain number.
The have number portability for switch between telco, but still the restriction on prepaid to prepaid and postpaid to postpaid only. sweat.gif sweat.gif

also ... any comment on following housing areas: tampines, pasir ris, bedok? tampines/pasir ris seems to be similar pricing at sgd 2.2-2.6k for 1xxx sq ft HDB. Bedok seems way more exp at sgd 2+k for 600-700 sq ft apt - but company got feeder bus direct from bedok mrt to office.

For west Malaysia, it wont help much, but for east Malaysia, it does help alot.
*
It does help even in west M'sia.
There a lot of jobs opening which requires immediate joining date.
It also helps in arranging interviews as for those who are working, we are more likely to be reluctant to attend a face to face interview in the middle of the week as it involves more leaves.
Being in Singapore also eliminate the need of a phone interview.

Malaysian's PR is more valuable than in S'poor. you can buy S'poor with 2mil but in Malaysia, I don't think so
*
Yes...I agree it is hard to apply for M'sian PR.
Why? Cause there is no system.
My colleague has failed in his countless attempts to apply for M'sian PR.
Imagine this...the wife is Malaysian, the kids is Malaysian...yet him (the husband and father of the kids) needs to apply for Visa just to go Malaysia.
If we are to say about buying PRship...I believe we can buy M'sian PRship at a "cheaper" price than 2mil.

if your colleague do things according to the procedure it should be fine, not easy to apply Msian PR. even in aussie, work for 2 years and so, and you can get a PR, no wonder they jatuh standard
*
What procedure?
Every time he goes, he is informed by the officer to do totally different things.
It is always a wild goose chase when it comes to dealing with the government.
There was even a time that the officer blatantly told him he was no eligible without even asking anything and just refuse to serve him.

Lets just end this as it will be never ending.
You will always be assuming something went wrong on our side and the government is always correct.

QUOTE(RedBishop @ May 27 2011, 11:42 AM)
oh well, what's good in SG? nothing i assume

Singapore is definitely not perfect, but to most of us in this thread, it is better than M'sia, at least for now.
We came not because we gave up totally on M'sia (well, maybe some did), but I have read from replies in the thread that a lot will prefer to go back M'sia if it improves.

I guess you must be very lucky indeed.
Try working in the government sector, they are the best benefit wise, then tell me when you get promoted.

Hey guys,

I will soon start work in Sg located at Serangoon. My sister have been staying in Novena area and is looking to find another HDB to rent. She's working at Changi.

Any recommendations of places to rent that can suit both my sister (Changi) and I (Serangoon north Ave)?

A friend suggested Tampines or Simei. Is it a good idea?
*
Tampines is a nice place to stay. wub.gif wub.gif
Tampines should be fine.
Near to Changi, your sister.
Has bus to Ang Mo Kio (Serangoon North Ave), you.
My boss stays in Tampines and travel to work in Serangoon North Ave by bus. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree with yr first point. My apologies

Disagree with yr second point.
The only reason SG gave us a chance is because no Singaporean are willing to take up the job. M'sian to them are cheap labour readily to be exploited citing "Singapore currency stronger mar!" on why they can't match yr expected salary. Oh not forgeting " No singapore experience but with Malaysian expereince? We don't recognise M'sian expereince". Yeah right?!
*
Actually, it is the other way round.
We with EPs can easily be replaced by Singaporeans.
Those with WP are the one that are doing the jobs that Singaporeans do not want.

I don't understand why a person with no skill and paper is rubbish

many WP worker are earning their living with honest and dignity, taking higher risk and lower pay.

There are things that money can't buy

-- a piece of humble pie
*
Agreed.
We should respect them even more because they are actually doing the jobs that needs to be done but we do not want.
Without them, things would have been a lot different.

no lor... jobs WP do can be replaced with robots... or some kind of machinery to reduce the numbers... am i right?

EP holders are usually needed for more human touch, like more use of brains.. according to uncle lee, sg lacking a lot of these kind of ppl... top management...
*
Well, not all can be replaced by robots.
More brains...robots also can achieve that...think terminator. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Singaporeans have the papers, just like us...it is just they want bigger pay, less workload, hence less picky ones (us) get the job.

It's getting there. Just tried the new Yuyi outlet in Heeren. It's a Chinese food place that serves fried rice, fried noodles etc... they've got robot woks. A couple of employees just pour in the pre-packed ingredients and press a button and the machine does the frying.

Sorry, kinda lost here.
Heeren?

one thing i note is that the guys in this thread get worked up very easily. they should spend more time in /k/ to improve their troll radar and resistance, haha!

btw guys, what the heck is "already co-broke" (with regards to searching for rental props)?

Added on June 2, 2011, 1:39 pmnevermind just ignore that, found out what co broke means. also means that i'll need to pay 1/2 month rental as agent fees huh doh.gif

[edit] ok help me with this instead. example a property listing that says "near mrt and amenities. newly renovated. master room locked." how to interpret this? that i will rent the entire unit *except* the master room that the owner will keep for his own use?
*
Yes and no.
HDB has a minimum occupancy period.
However, some owners already have a roof over their head.
The reason they bought the HDB was for investment and rental.
So according to the law, they cannot rent the whole unit, hence the master room locked part.
Need to keep a room in case of spot checks.
There are some cases that the owner does use it as their personal storeroom. laugh.gif laugh.gif
