QUOTE(kuekwee @ Nov 21 2012, 01:16 AM)
What is ROOT mean? SOmething like JB. is it legal?
*
Root means acquiring total access to your phone system. You can remove preinstalled apps, tones, etc. It's not illegal, but will void your warranty... or so the manufacturer says. I've seen feedback from users that Samsung center doesn't care about your rooted condition.

Hello, guys if i root my device only, do i need to do any backup?

My device is not support by cyanogenmod so im not planning to flash any rom. and i am a newbie for this.
*
It's better to make a backup before doing anything you are unsure of. For me this usually means my photos, SMS, Whatsapp, and a few apps with their data.

Try another file manager, like Solid Explorer.

galaxy nexus

i was trying to download document from email attachment in gmail app, and it just freezes. this had happened several times, and i just flashed to 4.2.1 factory image using toolkit. so despite using brand new set up, its still happening.

is this common glitch? the app is up to date.
*
Try using some 3rd-party plug-in from Play Store, it worked for me last time. Yes, using Nexus as well. But back then, downloading attachments wasn't an option available in Gmail.

how two install two apps in same device
ie i would like to have two whatsapp (two different account or number is 1 device)

Whatsapp is tied to your phone number. Get a dual-SIM phone? But then, maybe even dual-SIM won't support two Whatsapp installations...

I'm using free version of TiB.. Does it backup game progress? I just wanna back up one game

Yes I use the free version. Backup apps and data and restore them to other phones/firmware.

what's the app at the notification (live data usage). require root? or build in

Using GNex, but doesn't really matter because that thing is a feature of MIUIAndroid. Maybe there's an app for it...

So backup, copy the whole TiB folder to somewhere, flash new ROM, copy it back to device, and restore?
*
Yes. I've had a rare problem or two when I backup in JB and restore in GB... but that's probably not supposed to work.

Flashing new ROM and factory reset normally will not erase your SD card (where your TiB folder resides by default), but yes, it's safer to copy it somewhere after backup... you may want manual backup for your SMS and Whatsapp.

have been a samsung galaxy w user for more than one year, recently, i got a chance to buy a used galaxy nexus (one year) for RM800, should i go for it? Is it worth the upgrade?
*
I've used both. Yes, it's a good upgrade. Bigger screen, higher resolution, faster camera, faster processor, more ROMs, NFC, USB OTG support, fast Google updates. Just make sure condition is good and has warranty.

Is there a way to actually clean EVERYTHING to a completely fresh ROM? Normally we wipe data/factory reset before flashing ROMs but that just gets rid of all the apps and reset settings, Media, app data etc are all still there. My tab is running out of space now after flashing ROM after ROM and I have no idea where are all the unnecessary stuff are, is there a way to have complete clean ROM?
*
Factory reset then format SD card.

The rate is between 3 to 5% of the device value subject to a minimum premium. I reiterate, insurance companies only accept it selectively.
*
What is this selective criteria? What's ur insurance company? Thanks.
