do I necessarily have to be in dfu mode? My phone was locked to voda au. I've unlocked it last year. (did it in voda center, and did a restore) should i be worried about basebands then? haha sorry i've read thru so many baseband websites but have absolutely no idea what is it about. just wondering , cant i just plug in iphone > press update and let it restore?

not all baseband can be unlocked.

Added on April 30, 2011, 1:12 pmIf you're positive that your phone has been unlocked, then you can do a clean restore using iTunes. What is your current baseband anyway? If it is higher than 1.59 then I think voda has unlocked it for you.

If you wish to jailbreak either via redsn0w or pwnagetool, you will need to be in DFU mode.

thanks everyone for the input =) modem firmware is 02.10.04, is that the baseband? mm, well, i did all the procedures at voda to unlock my phone =P (I'm in aussie currently btw) so hopefully that is positively unlocked.

baseband 02.10.04 cannot be unlocked by ultrasn0w. maybe next time or use other method like gevey turbo sim.

that's the question i have in mind. Cos I've unlocked my phone already when i've gotten it, and it was 4.1 and jailbroken as well by limera1n. The question is if i clean restore my phone to 4.3.2, do i have to unlock it again? isn't unlocking a one off thing? thanks.

my suggestion, use sn0wbreeze to jailbreak 4.3.2. it will preserved your current baseband and then u can simply unlock using ultrasn0w. as for your question, if i'm not mistaken, after you restore a firmware u need to unlock your phone again, unless u use permanent unlock. correct me if i'm wrong.

For me, easy way could be searching directly from Cydia. Type any song tittle you want via search box.

Did you check the "Cydget" folder in Cydia, those can be helpful.

Download ifunbox. Locate sms tone folder. Make a backup of the original sms tone to your desktop. Navigate your NEW desire sms tone in the sms tone folder location.

p/s : before navigating make sure "desire sms tone" tittle should be the same as original sms tone title. Google for more information.

Click cancel. Or just close cydia. Then reopen it again. The update should start back again.

You cant clean restore using apple's ipsw. U need to custom cook an ipsw to preserved your baseband for unlock (software unlock). Use snowbreeze to cook custom ipsw.

The unlock is not permenant, is software unlock only.
