i just check on a book about astronomy... binoculars view is really limited... only the CCD camera have superior detail... laugh.gif

binoculars can only view the moon up to detail but the rest it can enable viewing of planet and star as a brigher dot and differentiate the color of the space object view. sweat.gif
*
Yeah, it is. It's good for learning constellations though because of the large field of view (FOV). In Malaysia, the ccd imager ability is actually not so strong as we are near the equator where the weather changes frequently as well as we need very sturdy equatorial mount for long exposure imaging.

so most time when u taking long exposure u use ur binos to view? not gonna miss it... or wait until u developed the films and found out something was very badly wrong...
*
Huh? What do you mean by film developing? When you are beginner to the astronomy, I always recommend a binocular to train your "go-to" skill before you invest in telescope as you have already been familiar with the sky and you know what does it take you to.

At the moment, I am going to get a deep sky imager (not from Meade) and focal reducer for wider field imaging. I was planning to use my telescope to take the lunar eclipse but due to the narrow fov of my telescope, I just forgot about it.

Franky speaking, "real seeing" is always better than enjoying the images as it makes you excited. laugh.gif

However, I heard that it's more difficult to modify than 840K. Once I got my soldering tool, I will modify my 840K. Do you guys have any idea what type of soldering gun is good enough?

This one is very good for planetary imaging. March05, could you help me to make a adapter for 840k?

Wah you guys have your gear for so long still haven't start your work yet?
I guess March05 taping methods work. smile.gif

The price is expensive, I guess it is hard to sell in here or even at the outside market.

I do my work with other imager. laugh.gif

What are you planning to get for your deep sky imaging? SBIG?
*
Don't mention SBIG please. shakehead.gif We can just see it but not get it. They design the best CCD imager in the world.

I am getting mine from QHY. He will soon be a PHD of Precise Measurement Technology and Instruments. I am going to study this as well. The imager I am considering is called QHY2. You may check its spec in my blog. laugh.gif
QHY2

I am trying to get a guntype as it looks more easier to solder since the handle and the solder part is perpendicular.

Luckily, I am not a MAC user. laugh.gif Why not you just direct order from Imaginova?

Do you upgrade your "ahem" with the original upgrade? Why are we coughing frequently these days? laugh.gif

I am quite sure that I am going to improve my English. unsure.gif

Actually, I don't need such an expensive candy. I don't think you need a Pro Plus version if you don't do astrophotography.

We have a new astrophotography opportunity for October: Comet Swan.

for the ephemeris and orbital elements, see here: http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?ID=dK06M040;orb=1;cov=0#orb

For this week, it will be in the dawn sky. Later part of the month, it will be in the evening.

Whoopppeeee!!! And I thought it was going to be a dull month.
*
Finally there is a photo-op again. What's the magnitude of this comet?

Visually reported at around 6th magnitude.....going to be another difficult one.

I've just tried running the comet's ephemeris in SNP. It looks like we won't be able to catch it in the evening sky later this month.
The comet is moving northwards, and those lucky people further North will have a better view, but not us.  cry.gif For us, the comet will set before the sky gets dark enough. One of the drawbacks of living near the equator.

So we have only this week to catch the comet.  sweat.gif
*
This week? Do you mean catch it with the hazy skies? doh.gif

I keep praying for a miracle. Very religious this week. rolleyes.gif

BTW, there's another new comet to try for at the same time. David Levy of the famous Shoemaker-Levy 9 (1994) has just found a comet near Saturn. This is reported at magnitude 10, so you will need a fairly fast telescope to see it.

This will be David's 22nd comet discovery.  shocking.gif

Wow, he is so expert in comet discovering. thumbup.gif I wish I will have the skill one day. smile.gif

well, the last time he discovered the former, it broke into many fragments and slammed into Jupiter.... who knows, this one might just venture too close to Saturn and slam into it as well....  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  tongue.gif

Are both ebay and amazon cheaper than Popular? The chinese name of the book is 哈勃太空望远镜观看宇宙. It's written by 野本阳代.

Yes, there is English version but I can't find the same book in the same colour in English. That's why I can't give you the link.

I shot one just now and it's posted in my blog. I didn't shoot the Moon last night although it was at perigee. You have to wait until 1:00A.M. if you are interested in the photo as the system will only post it at that time. smile.gif

I am going to get a wedge soon to enable my telescope to be operated in polar mode. It's time to go into deep sky imaging! laugh.gif

For a decent telescope, $2000 to $3000 will be enough. I just used my Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 at 12x of optical zoom to shoot the Moon. However, you can check my blog for Moon photos taken in telescope.
