Yup, julchin, I setup my Meade in my garden. I will always welcome anyone who wants to take "many" looks of the sky.
March05, what is the software you use for toucam pro II to take photos? What are the sites you read the most?

Haha, looks like my post is good enough for cheating purpose.

WildPiew, nice work!
Ok guys, I forgot to post my own Moon photo... Here is the link: http://www.astronomynotes.net/index.php/20...trophotography/ I don't want to direct post here in order to save the bandwidth. |

It is quite quiet these days huh? I have taken my photo together with my telescope.
http://www.astronomynotes.net/index.php/20...8-lx90-with-me/ By the way, I finally success in taking Jupiter! I am just not satisfied with the blue tone of the photo. |

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Jul 22 2006, 08:31 PM) Haha, come come. But don't rob me. QUOTE(March05 @ Jul 22 2006, 08:57 PM) With his Meade, he can spot you coming from 3 kilometers away! The polis will be waiting for you lah. So it is the right tone? I prefer to take the Jupiter in monochrome, it looks much more better in details, don't you think so? I don't have a barlow lens though. I have a full set of eyepieces. I think it's time to sell part of them and get a barlow, what do you think? It's quite hard to sell them in Malaysia though. Congrats, Mr.LKM. Your Jupiter shots are spot on for the LPI. I think the bluish tone is caused by slight underexposure - I get that most of the time too. But I don't mind because the highlight details are more important. If you overexpose, the planet looks more color balanced but washed out, and I feel that's worse. Jupiter has such a wide contrast and color range that it is quite challenging to find the best compromise in midtones. For more details, you can try using a 2x/3x barlow. Some ppl even go for a 5x barlow. But that's a bit too much for the LPI's sensitivity with your 8" SCT, especially now that Jupiter is no longer at opposition. |

It's so quite these days.
I am wondering whether getting a EOS20Da is better or a Deep Sky Imager Pro II. I heard that a DSLR is even better than the low to mid range CCD imager. Only the one which costs 3k to 6k USD |

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Aug 2 2006, 11:10 PM) Wah..Richkid. I am not sure about the EOS20Da. I heard that Canon has stopped the production. I can't make sure though. Anyway, thats a good camera and the price has dropped below RM5K by now since the 30D has been released. Nikon D70S and Canon 350D also worth the look plus its much less....... QUOTE(March05 @ Aug 9 2006, 07:09 PM) Well, I only just managed to read your article on monochrome CCDs. I also find that I am too Meade orientated these days. However, since I have been active in Cloudynights.com from this week, I know much more about the equipments. Maybe a bit too Meade orientated (could be annoying to Celestron fans lah)......how about something on the USD 2 Billion Hubble Space Telescope? I think it also uses a monochrome CCD......maybe cheapskate NASA couldn't afford a colour CCD. Anyway, you nailed it on the advantages of the CCD imager over the DSLR. But Canon seems to be making a big push towards using their equipment for Astrophotography, so tomorrow (or the near future) the story may change. In fact, monochrome ccd is much more expensive. monochrome ccd can be equipped with filters to take colours. Let's take Meade DSI II Pro as an example, you can take the photos using the 4 filters and then merge them. Then, it will be a coloured version. However, this is quite incovenience though. Monochrome has higher sensitivity too. Opps, I talked too much about my next next article. I am currently working on the Perseid meteor shower. |

Im abolutely lost as to the technical jargons being discussed here. The only few I'd understand might be related to Digicameras thats all.... Don't worry. There are a lot of stuffs to know when you get into astrophotography. I just know 1% of the total. By the way, I don't have the luck again to observe Perseid meteor shower... it's so cloudy now. The sky is so suck! The brightest star Vega is only very very poor visible and I can't even see it if the cloud just move a little bit. It supposes to be the haze I think. Thanks to the idiot farmers in Indonesia.

QUOTE(DAViS @ Aug 18 2006, 04:52 PM) I haven't modded it. I still have time to do so. March05, although Ganymede is much more larger than Charon, it doesn't orbit the Sun but Jupiter. I think that's the defination suggested that Ganymede is not a planet. Ceres is an asteroid which is now defined as a planet between Mars and Jupiter. These days are so cloudy. |

QUOTE(March05 @ Aug 19 2006, 07:24 AM) Hi, long time no see u. Last time was at SS2 McD's right? About a century ago. I see. I think the chances are Moon will most likely be another planet according to their defination. (Please let me know if there is grammar mistake.) My ToUcam's still working with my old adaptor. Haven't done adaptor version 2 yet since it works fine. Nothing much to shoot though. The skies have been misbehaving again. What are the chances of having another ToUcam bulk? But Ganymede is larger than even Mercury & some say it may be a `captured' planet, not a true Galilean satellite. There're also rumours that under the new definition, our own moon may qualify as a planet - which means that we (Earth & Moon) will be a double planet system too. If you trace out the Moon's path, it does orbit the Sun in a wobbly way, just like the Earth also wobbles around the Sun due to the Moon's proximity. So who's orbiting who? But I like the idea of Xena being made one of the planets........... She can fight with Mars everyday like in the TV series! BTW I just got a 404 at your blog. Are you updating it? |

QUOTE(March05 @ Aug 20 2006, 01:00 PM) Personally, I think if they keep messing around with the definitions, we could end up with hundreds of objects suddenly becoming planets. Ya, this is not just science but also religious. They have to figure a defination as if they don't, there will be a lot of mess. My favourite position is that we have Eight planets, and Pluto is just another KBO (Kuiper Belt Object) like Xena. That way, the planets are an exclusive club of eight and should remain so for quite some time. But obviously this will not please our Muslim brothers........there are a lot of religious implications in the definitions that many people are not aware of. It's not just science, you know. |

QUOTE(March05 @ Aug 21 2006, 08:26 PM) Our Physics books will have to be revised and reprinted (I can imagine the printers rubbing their hands in glee at the new business!) As astrology isn't science related at all.And the astrologers now will have to take the new planets into account with their predictions.........but how come they couldn't predict this? |
