i think so. thumbup.gif

the other planets in our Solar System are named after characters of Roman (& Greek) Mythology.

for example:
Mercury - god of commerce and travel, the winged messenger
Venus - goddess of Love
Mars - god of war
Jupiter - aka Zeus, king of gods
Saturn - god of agriculture; aka Cronus, father of Jupiter
Neptune - god of the sea
Uranus - the earliest god, god of heaven, father of Saturn

Under dispute for classification as a `planet'
Pluto - aka Hades, god of the underworld
Xena - she's famous enough lah!

the beautiful thing is that Mars will be up nearly all night tonite!
It will clear the horizon in the East at around 7.40 pm, stroll through the night sky, passing overhead about 2.00 am, and then disappear in the West after sunrise!

Plenty of time to take photos, provided the clouds don't get in the way as usual.

Watch out for the huge dust storms which started just over a week ago. Mars is certainly putting on a jolly good show this time round.

Whoa, that's plenty of time. Good luck to you all. I wish that no cloud block our sight. Sadly, I still don't have the telescope...I have to wait for 13years for the next event... sad.gif

I don't have enough money right now. sad.gif

By the way, I am told that the C6-NGT is a lot better than ETX-105AT with the same price but the C6-NGT weights 15KG while ETX105-AT only weights 6KG. I don't know which one I should choose.

Pls let us know how to tell one is better than the other. U can't compare a Newtonian against a Maksutov Cassegrain design. Like comparing apples to oranges lah.

What's the difference between Newtonian and Maksutov Cassegrain? I prefer lighter, I think I will go into ETX.

Newtonian will always be with a fast focal ratio and wide aperture for deep-space objects while Maksutov with very very slow focal ratio. If one's favourite is planets and terrestrial viewing as well, Maksutov is a good bet. When visual observation for DSO is the priority, newtonian will beat the rest (with perfect collimation). It's depending on the user/observer's desire and requirement. Overall, Maksutov is portable, handy but not seriously practical for astronomy enthusiasts in general observation. It performances are good but very limited. I could tell the differences as my experiences tell me so... however, there is no absolute answer to the question. Subject to your observation plan!

Hi guys, would like to share this "fresh" shot for Mars close approach this early morning at 3am.

Therefore, who stands between Maksotuv and Newtonian?
