Ok so the digicam pictures are taken not based on the bino optics.
But if just for viewing, the diameter does play part still as the bigger the optics then the more light can come in and giving brighter image for the viewer's eye.

Neway, will try look around the shops later on and see how

You're right. I was just pointing out that you shouldn't waste your money on binocams for astrophotography. It's okay for general sight seeing and some birding activities, since the main feature of the binocam is the 2-in-1 compactness. Binocams with larger apertures than 32mm have mostly been discontinued in the market. That indicates something, doesn't it?

You can easily pick up a good pair of 7x50 binos instead of a binocam and still have cash to spare.

Happy shopping!

A 7*50 is the best beginner binocular. You can visit www.grandeyes.com.hk (Anthony). He is a great dealer. Enquire him about the 7*50 binocular.

okay, thx I get the point now. It's really confusing with the different selection that a beginner may pick. Nevertheless answers like these helps. So binocam are mostly for birding or safari adventures but not the right choice if to go with astrophotography icon_rolleyes.gif

erm Mr LKM, the link u gave me 'not found'
I been to a shop and found 3 types of brands of 7x50 bino, Nikon (RM388), Pioneer (RM238) and another which I forgot the brand edi (RM238). The more reliable one here would be Nikon? I need to search for the type of lens used I guess...
Not easy to find at my place here

Was looking online for an astronomy club or observatory but seems like I can't find any here in KK. There goes my wish to try and 'tumpang' to see the stars tongue.gif

As the president of my school Astronomy Club, I am still enquiring the school whether we can accept members other than students.

I believe most of the binoculars use BK7 as the lens. The correct URL should be www.grandeye.com.hk Sorry for the mistake.

Just image it with longer exposure. I think 2 seconds will be enough. It's a common optical effect. It's called Moon Halo.

Set the exposure type of your camera to Tv so that you can adjust the shutter speed.

Sunspot 953 is evolving very fast! It's got a long filament attached and a respectable plage. After weeks of a blank Sun, this is very nice!

Still trying to figure out the best way to shoot the sun with my Casio. sweat.gif

This is amazing. What's the necessary filter required to take this? How about the setting (aperture and shutter speed)?

Make sure you get a solar filter for your camera or the CCD or CMOS of your camera will be burned.

Burned? shocking.gif
Many years ago when I was still having fun with my film SLR, I had came cross a type of filter which is used to shoot sun, it's called sun filter. It looks like a grayish filter to dim the sun. Is that the type of filter you're talking about?

Talking about the full moon, I've taken a shot on the moon with a S3is yesterday. For me the result is satisfying, since I've not taken any moon before. The detail is there, for me again tongue.gif. I'm wondering how good a shot of the moon can be if taken with proper equipment.

Proper equipment? Maybe you can find it at my blog. biggrin.gif

The filter you mentioned is just the normal solar filter. The filter utilized to take the photo that March05 showed is the Hα filter.

The moon you shot can actually be a lot better. I think that's the weather that hid some details.
