I've been to your blog. Why haven't you posted any photo of your work on it?

For example, this is my lunar eclipse artwork.

Now this one for fun. The cloud looks like it's lighted up by the moon.

I have reposted this pic. The earlier one was not correctly rotated.

Going to try some sun shots later today. Saw some huge prominences yesterday evening, but by the time I had set up the camera, the sun went behind clouds......usual story lah.

Yesterdays sun shots:

1. Taken with a ND (Neutral Density) Filter. What most ppl call a `normal' Solar Filter. Costs ~ RM500. Place in front of my refractor.
user posted image

2. Taken with through a Coronado PST ( a Solar Telescope with a built in Hydrogen Alpha Filter) Costs ~ RM4,000. Just pinjam only.

As you can see, I'm hopeless at shooting through the PST with my Casio. I think the Casio CCD is not capable of resolving the narrow Ha bandwidth. There's limited detail captured although the original view in the PST is amazing.

If you join enough astro clubs and have some (hopefully money no object type) friends who also have the same interests, then you sure got lobang lah. But you must also be prepared to return the favour in other ways.....like help them to carry their heavy astro equipment 3-4 kilometers uphill to their secret observing site. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

No pain, no gain. laugh.gif

lunar eclipse: 28 August 2007, Melbourne (edited - thanks to march05)
taken with Canon S2is

around 8.30pm

user posted image

In total shadow - but due to the scattered atmosphere of the earth, the longer wavelength dominates as light travel to earth - and red has the longest wavelength, therefore the blood red in color instead of total darkness...

user posted image

It was cloudy - and the moon was blocked by clouds around 8.35pm, during the greatest eclipse =( - but luckily some wind came shortly...

when the solar radiation starts to come in...

cleverlynn, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!

I like this one best....you got the turquoise moon very nicely! Spot on exposure!

A bit puzzled about your date, though. Taken on 29th August?

hanissyazwan: sorry to disappoint you, but the eclipse was already long over by 3.21 a.m. 29th August 2007 in Malaysia.

You must have had a long booze lunar eclipse party rclxms.gif rclxms.gif ..........anyways, your exif showed 28-08-2007, so I knew it was a typo. But my other obnoxious twin just had to point it out.

Do you have any recent Perseid shots by any chance? drool.gif

Are you still active and doing astrophotography?. It would be so good to have some occasional shots of PD night skies here.

Looking for astro kakies, yes.....but no time to join them lah.
