SGS SL and if raise a bit can get HTC IS at 1400 AP from garage sale.
Xperia Neo, Pro should be cheaper soon and those are seems to be good phones as well.

i got some confusing on Desire, cause lot of model. Btw, my friend highly recommend me Lg Optimus 2x but i just worry lot of bug since it was the first dual core phone in market and i not really got confidence for LG brands. SGS i got lot of friend using, so far so good and i never use GPS cause i got the GPS device. But SGS isn't still worth to get since SGS2 is coming out. And the market price for SGS2 was Rm2099 compare with Lg Optimus 2x which was Rm1590, it shown the SGS2 price was quite expensive. Btw, Sensation was RM2199.

I suggest you get SGS2 or Sensation. Since these are Q3 phones which are launching soon, i suggest you wait for them. SGS has issues that can be fixed with a custom kernal and rom and O2x still has the lingering yellow tint issue(The FC issue was resolved).

Also, you can go for good out of the box phones like Incredible S or Incredible S.

Sensation's bootloader might be unlocked because HTC already unlocked the bootloader on the newer wave of Incredible/Desire S. A forumer pointed this out. No prove though
If you need a physical QWERTY pad then yes. If not, stick with Desire S or, go for Huawei X5. Its cheaper but shares roughly the same specs.
HTC Incredible S. Good out of the box. No customization needed. Root is still in progress so XTClip is the only way for you to flash a custom rom. Bootloader is locked though. 8mp camera, up to date single core specs, good build quality.

Good all rounder phone.
I suggest you get the X5 instead of the W8. The colours are exotic but the specs are really crappy. For roughly the same price you can get the specs of a 1.4k phone.

Darkie. I think we should put recommended list on the first thread.

1000 >800 : X5 and the pro and cons. Picture and spec.
Then 1000 > 1300. and so one. So they can do some research and then ask us if there is still any doubt.

1. Brand. - Xperia X10 & Motorola Defy

2. Budget. - 1.2k and below (don't mind if AP set)

3. Specs. - Android phone (2.2 Froyo and above), not laggy, decent screen size & display, decent camera, enjoyable to surf the net with and

4. What you need in the phone -

Currently i am torn between Motorola Defy and Xperia X10. The things i need from a phone is in both but then: -

X10 does have Android 2.3 update, better camera and bigger screen. But then it doesn't have multitouch, and the display is inferior compared to defy. Sound quality for both is unknown.

Defy supports multitouch, good display, durable. But the camera is inferior compared to X10, there's no and i don't know if there will be a 2.3 Android update and the screen is smaller.

I don't know which one lags more.

Anyone can break the deadlock for me?
*
1. Galaxy SL.
2. X10. 2.3 update is coming. 1K for AP only.
3. Defy. Small display.

1. Brand. HTC / Samsung
2. Budget. ~1.6k
4. What you need in the phone
-Large screen, at least 3.7
-front camera not important

I'm torn between the Desire HD and Samsung Galaxy S (not S II, still out of budget)

I don't really mind getting AP since I'll always go back to the shop for repairs anyway compared to travelling to kl to get them to repair.

My worry is that, is the Desire HD still a good phone to get? It's already relatively old, but I keep falling in love with the screen size. Is there anything that the Galaxy S (amoled) do better than the desire HD other than screen quality?

which would be a better buy in the long run (3-4 years)?
Thanks!
*
long run? why not LG Optimus 2x. Ap set 1600.

QUOTE(azimlatip @ Jun 13 2011, 11:00 PM)
Hello guys, need some recommendation here! smile.gif

Alright, first of all, I'm sort of new to this Android world. I've used Nokia, iPhone and currently Blackberry. So I'm thinking of trying Android.

Brand - HTC/Samsung/Huawei (Just Ideos X5)
Budget - ~RM900

Alright here's some of what I need in the phone.

- Snappy and smooth when scrolling through the interface.
- Snappy and smooth when opening an application. (Mainly Facebook/Browser/WhatsApp)
- Able to "download" data after certain period of time. (Like push, lol.)
- Able to push notification for facebook/whatsapp/email. (if possible)

Usually that's what I really want in a phone. Not so fond of gaming on the phone, but able to play nice games will be a plus since it'll help me to kill some time.

And one more thing, is it possible to turn off data usage?

I'm eyeing on Huawei Ideos X5 and Samsung Galaxy Ace though.

Thanks guys, hope you guys could help me out.

Ideos X5. Come join the club its a good phone. Can also overclock stable at 1.2Ghz on demand.

1. Brand: Any
2. Budget: 600-1000
3. Specs: Any
4. What you need in the phone:
Top priority would be call quality and battery(talk/standby time), since I travel alot.
Decent web browsing with 3G/wifi, will be using it to check mail/game scores/info once in a while.
Since I'm upgrading from a k660i, anything equal or better than the camera quality would be acceptable(3.2 MP), I only use it once in a while for snapping work pics/special occasions.
Edit: Also decent battery for gaming while waiting for clients tongue.gif

So far the only phones I've seen people recommend at that budget are the wildfire, ideos x5 and x10 mini pro/x8. Would like to know more about those phones or any other recommendations at that price range, wildfire seems to be rated high among international websites, despite several complaints here that it's slow(not sure if it'll be noticeable since I'm using a much older phone now). Ideos X5 seems to have a better processor/bigger screen but the call/standby time seems low even though battery capacity is higher. Also there's a lack of reviews for the Ideos X5 as it's not popular in the international market. X8 seems decent, just with a lousier camera.
*
Se X8 and X5. Get x5. Its far far better. I have use both and still using the X5.
Camera quality quite decent with 5MP and HD recording.
Browsing is very decent and its quite well on 3.8" and support flash.
