Yes. Due to the screen 4.3" and pricing now 1400.
Just the issue is battery life. But you can slowly purchase a performance battery later.

Arc for design and camera.
SGS2 for everything else.  It's not a smartphone, it's a superphone.
*
Its a superphone for few months. When LG, HTC and maybe SE catch up it will be a regular joe.

looking for android phone that have front facing camera and can support video call over 3g, not wifi (eg: apps like "tango"). can recommend me which? if possible, want the cheapest. currently looking at galaxy SL but not sure whether can support 3g video call or not.....
*
Front facing camera does come with Galaxy SL.
It should support 3G call. Do inquire on their own thread.

Use Huawei X5 and install Papago alongside with MFM Maps.
Should be more update compare to OVI Maps and I have used X6 before.
I would prefer MFM maps. Tx.

if i were to shift from blackberry to android, liking the physical keyboard

what would be a good phone? htc desire z?

any other good phone to suggest?

thanks!
*
I used to use a BB before going for Nokia X6. Desire Z is nice but I dont like slide out keyboard.
I have to use both hands unlike my BB. troublesome if I have to sms on the escalator or while walking like my Dopod 838 Pro.
So I suggest you get a 4.2, 4.3" android. The screen is big enough for a full portrait qwerty type like what I am using now Xperia Arc.
It takes time to get used to but its faster than typing in BB now and you can rotate to landscape if you need to type long sentences like surfing the net and
require more space. Other that Arc the cheaper and bigger alternatives is the Desire HD and AP is at 1400. Only issue is short battery but you can buy a third party performance battery.

looking for fast and quite good camera phone..
also must have gps..
finally worth to buy..i will use the phone for long time..

Then I can recommend you my one of my current phone. The SE Xperia Arc. Apset in garage sale is selling at 1750.
Best in Android camera and especially low light using the Exmor R. I don't bring my Ixus around anymore. Display is very good due to the Bravia engine.
Large display good enough for typing and web browsing nicely. HDMI out put as it can be a multi format video player after you install MoboPlayer.
Watch video and picture in large display using HDMI thru your LCD. Nice standard interface and fast enough for day to day use.
I am also using for GPS with installed Papago and MFM Maps with it. Just find a universal car holder for this.
Slim and nice design that fit in your pocket nicely. Best design in Android yet.

in my mind want to hav sony x8 or x10 mini..
*
For me X8 is better as the screen is bigger. I used to use it.
X10 2.6" screen is too small. Why not top up a bit to get the Ideous X5.
Bigger screen 3.8" fast processor and large RAM. 5MP camera and phone should last longer.
RM850 ori set with 2 years warranty. If not X8 is the best I can recommend now.

Lazy to change battery and tweaks? Get Samsung Galaxy SL. Very decent enough on stock.

what is the price? i thought around 1.8k?
galaxy SL around 1.2k?
*
Galaxy SL retail is 1299. You should push at least 1250 at your hometown.
Samsung margin is quite high. Garage sale is selling 1190.

Saw optimus is 2X is 1600 yesterday. Ori is 1899.

Where are you located?

piumiu,

Thanks for the respond. BTW, how was your experience in shifting from BB to android? am a hardcore bb user, relying on it a lot. can android substitute all that? or would it be better if i were to just get a second phone?

Thanks man. Sharing of your experience is very much appreciated.
*
I was using 2 BB model and nearly for 1 year.
Well if you used to BB short cut you make take up some time to use android.
After you learn full use and potential of android like me. You never turn back.
You can do so much in Android compared to BB. I only see BB is good for overseas trip and email on the go.
Email is quite easy on BB similar to sms funtion only. Thats all i see the advantage in BB.
Still the email in Android can be easy and have multiple software if you dont like the stock one.
Other than that android is better from my view.

I have few phone and all of them are android.
Arc, X10 and buying now X5.
So I dont think BB can even on par for for second phone.

SGS or SGS2? If SGS, Arc will win hands down.
SGS2 is now around 450 more than Arc. If you want super spec phone SGS2 is the choice.
If not, get a nice all rounder phone for Arc especially the design and camera.

I love the build quality, features and value for money for its price.
New model with 1ghz, Andreno 205 and HTC Sense.
Tested at the shop, speed is impressive and interfaces and feel.

Expensive phone must feel like expensive phone.
Mostly HTC has that feel. I beg to differ with Samsung android series.
But then again that just me. Go to phone shop and have a feel of these phones.
Just dont get brainwash by most of the idiot salesman that know nothing on android phones.

Then I say ehh RRP only 899. Then the say can give me discount and get 899 if i want to buy.
Discount on RRP?

After that told me they have been selling Android for 7 years already!
7 years! wow..

ROFLMAO.

Android was launched back in 2008 and they have been selling for 7 years? They timetravel?

To Zlik98, Ace is not worth its price. Go for the Huawei X5 instead. If you don't care about specs/anything and want the Ace, just buy it. You won't regret it if you use it for simple purposes and low end gaming. Don't hope for playing high end games though. You can't run HD games too. X5 on the other hand, can do much more than the Ace.

Proc:(Ace)800mhz(factory overclocked) Adreno 200 VS (x5)800mhz Adreno 205
Camera: 5mp VS 5mp
Screen resolution: (Ace) 320x480 VS (x5) 480x800
Screen size: (Ace)3.5" VS (x5)3.7"
Ram: (Ace)384mb VS (x5) 512mb
Price: (Ace) 999 VS (x5) 850.

Added on May 25, 2011, 10:01 pm
Arc is worth the price if you like the design and take photos a lot. Me on the other hand, got the Incredible S instead. I preferred it over the Arc because of the extra ram(i multitask A LOT), the shape and feel and also the updates reliability.

SE has been infamous for not providing Android updates after one or two major ones.

Try to manipulate people. The kid is looks like not even early 20's spitting out nonsense.
Andreno and Scorpion in Android also dunno still want to teach me about android. I show him all my phones and walk away after that.

Galaxy tab ( review not so good but i like the feel)
Dell streak but just dual point touch ( cant play guitar app ) ,
saw in this thread some suggest se x10
infuse 4g ( but not exist in malaysia , if got ill get this phone for sure)
optimus 2x ( every one say : "banyak masalah..... "  )  sad.gif

any rumor regarding 5-7 inch upcoming phone. better than ARM Cortex A8 processor, 1 GHz processor; PowerVR SGX540 graphics( found in galaxy tab ) perhaps dual core? haiii.... rclxub.gif

i want a phone more on watching movie, internet ,gaming
so i dont mind to get a big screen phone...
budget below 2K
thanks to all sifu here notworthy.gif

Deal Streak 5". From an ex user that move to arc. He saw its pretty good but too big for pockets sometimes.
Desire HD 1400 AP with performance battery.

branded 7" so far I know in the market is Samsung. Its still single core.
I don't recommend getting a 7" for a phone. Its way too big. The most you can take it Desire HD.
If you can wait and top up. Get SGS2 4.3" dual core and budget around 2.4k for ori in few months.

Don't think too much on the spec. Think usability, features and feel.
Browse around the spec for few phone you like. Get the price, warranty type. accessories and best place to buy.
Go there and have a feel of it and go back and decide.

For me there is no perfect phone unless arc is dual core and 1GB RAM and at least 2GB internal.
SGS2 does not fit my cup of tea in terms of design. spec is great now.
So I hope I can wait until few new phones that can compete with SGS2 with better design.
Until then I am happy with my Arc.

Again from what I see all you need SGS2.

Samsung SGS SL 1199 Ori at garage sale or Incredible S AP 1400 AP.
Do a bit more research on what you need from the phone to do well.

look at picture quality than megapixel and single flash.
newer single flash can be far better than dual flash.

kuantan should be cheap for phones. or just drop by kl while on the way to buy.
or you can go yik foong and greentown mall in ipoh. most of the price there are decent.
some are cheaper than kl.
