Wouldn't recommend it because of the lack of roms. But IIRC it has a few issues.Android Phone Recommendation thread v2, Confused? Torn between two phones?

QUOTE(.:Toaster:. @ Apr 8 2011, 09:02 AM) Ace has a better camera and HAS custom rom support from XDALiquid Metal has better build quality, a better proc(800mhz Q7230Desire Z processor), Nicer screen, higher reso, but ABSOLUTELY NO support from XDA. Also more value for money. |

QUOTE(clon12 @ Apr 10 2011, 11:11 AM) I want to sell off my Wildfire and get something decent, something that doesn't lag too much. Wildfire failed me for even texting have some problem. Budget would be <RM1k Ace is decent but can't really live up to a few of our expectations. Acer Liquid Metal for me. And to Clon, if your budget can be stretched a little, i suggest Acer Liquid Metal too. 512mb ram on Q7230, which is Desire Z's processor. Also has stock froyo. Has no custom rom support though. Only minimal support from other sources. And the camera is quite sub par. Screen is your usual 800x480. If the camera matters a lot to you, stick with the Ace. ALM has higher build quality too. And this recommendation is directed to both of you. |

QUOTE(clon12 @ Apr 11 2011, 04:10 PM) Yes. Because they're both from the same gen, sharing the same GPU. Adreno 200. Since the proc in SGA is factory overclocked, nonetheless its still overclocked and i don't like that. Besides, the camera and build quality of the Desire is better. Anyways have a look at the Desire S review i posted a while ago. |

QUOTE(breaker84 @ Apr 12 2011, 04:47 PM) thanks for the info.... Any specific requirements or so? And to the 1.5k budget, you can get an Incredible S at RM1550. A better deal than most of the current available phones. Or You can go for Captivate at RM14xx with a better GPU. Has inferior build quality, less ram. The camera on the IS is also better. And the Captivate's camera has no flash.my budget was too tight... RM1k only...max.. i'll put SGA as one of my option... |

QUOTE(vista enthusiasist @ Apr 13 2011, 11:15 PM) Hey all android sifus i want to try android so which phone you guys suggest? Samsung Galaxy Ace RM9501. Brand. (either htc, or samsung or any other suggestion) 2. Budget. (1k-1.2k) RM Any nice recommendation? Thanks in advance. Acer Liquid Metal RM1150 HTC Wildfire RM1050 The Samsung has a better camera, an overclocked(800mhz) but not Flash 10.1 capable proc, and sub par build quality The Acer has a sub par camera, a Q7230(Desire Z's processor) and it is flash 10.1 capable, has above average build quality HTC Wildfire has a good camera, a 600mhz processor Wildfire is also supported by CM7. Acer Liquid Metal has no form of custom rom support all. Ace should have support sometime soon. QUOTE(lowyard @ Apr 13 2011, 11:20 PM) Yes but the build quality and UI is a reason why i wouldn't recommend it. QUOTE(figure8 @ Apr 14 2011, 07:59 AM) Desire HD if you need to flash and/or likes tweaking. Incredible S for the higher MAH battery. |

QUOTE(figure8 @ Apr 14 2011, 09:08 AM) thanks. thats what i really want actually. planning to buy 1st android phone just to take advantage in learning how to customize.. any othe good phone/tablet that u can recommend, desire hd is on the list for now.. LG Optimus 2x is good i guess. The RRP is RM1899. If you're a first timer, i assume you wouldn't go too far anyway. I suggest you go for a lower-mid end device and try out Android first. If you like it, you can sell it off then get the Incredible S or the Optimus 2x. If you don't, you can move on to iPhones or back to Symbian smartphones.how about samsung/lg phone? |

QUOTE(figure8 @ Apr 14 2011, 10:13 AM) yea. i already have symbian phone and iphone. so its time to try something new (for me at least). I see. If so, you would probably want the luxury of freely customizing everything. The Incredible S's bootloader is probably gonna be cracked very soon. HTC phones tend to have more user/fanbase compared to other phones. Try following a thread on XDA. You can also wait for HTC Sensation. The full preview can be viewed on engadget.if i get incredible s, i need to wait for new development cus as far as i know rooting is not yet available. thats why i plan to buy android phone that easy to customize/tweak/etc.. i don't use it as a phone/camera so it all depend on the software/os itself. Added on April 14, 2011, 10:20 amAlso, try not to go with SE's phones. They have a laggier UI. If its not Stock Froyo or a good UI, don't buy it. No matter how godly the specs of the phones are, it'll still bottleneck the whole thing. This post has been edited by xDarkKnightx: Apr 14 2011, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(figure8 @ Apr 14 2011, 03:30 PM) i agreed your suggestion regarding se phone. i tried x10 before n i know how u feel Galaxy S is okay if you apply some lag fixes and install a custom rom. Its much cheaper and you can sell it if you don't like it.dhd is the best choice i guess. how about galaxy s?. QUOTE(iamleavingformars @ Apr 14 2011, 07:43 PM) RM11xx for an AP set. |

QUOTE(kanethesun @ Apr 15 2011, 05:15 AM) With a locked bootloader, you can't flash custom roms.QUOTE(bardshah92 @ Apr 15 2011, 05:57 AM) Can someone recommend me android phone that can make video call. Incredible S can too IIRC.From what I know, only SGS can make video call via 3g. Not via apps. Any others phone? QUOTE(SihamZhai @ Apr 15 2011, 11:46 AM) What about the Nexus S.. heard its a good phone. Worth buying? better than Desire S? Its a good phone. Also has Vanilla Gingerbread. It is worth buying for the better GPU and screen. Still, i would go for the Incredible S due to the better camera and build quality. Battery on the Nexus S is superb.Locked bootloader means that you can't flash custom rom. Custom ROM are stuff made by developers instead of the manufacturing company. For example, people with unlocked bootloader on a HTC Desire HD already has 2.3 gingerbread Mod but HTC has not announced the official 2.3 gingerbread. |

With HTC sync its easier. But since both are Android platforms, if you install Titanium backup you can restore the backup on another phone IIRC.
