did anyone encounter problem with the usb 3.0 port?
mine seems got problem, the device i plugged in will become not responding after few minutes of using,
like i plug in a 3g modem, the modem will disconnect itself, when i plug it out, the device manager still stated that my modem is still plugged in.
same goes for my iphone, but nothing happen when i use the port for pendrive.
after become not responding, i need to restart my computer sad.gif

my usb 3.0 uses to power my usb hub... no problem so far... mouse,3g modem, cooler pad all working perfectly... biggrin.gif

Cheaper, 4830TG.
Better in spec, Y470.
Better in battery life, 4830TG.
N43Sl is around middle, better battery life than Y470 and decent speaker compared to 4830TG..

New option for now is Asus N45SF which comes with nVidia GT555M, better GPU than those three laugh.gif

4830tg, definitely isnt the right machine if ur planning to do gaming. smile.gif but, gaming for older titles, no problem:) heat issues when playing games like dirt 3 n crysis 2. no problem on prototype, alice, hotpursuit, red alert 3, dow2,dead space 2.less intensive games shud not pose any heat/throttling issues.

Added on August 12, 2011, 10:53 amguess what, i just called acer just now regarding HDD/MEMORY upgrade part. 1st i call the product info line, she said, its TOTALLY NOT OKAY to upgrade HDD but OK for memory. then i pointed out that, those salesperson at lowyat plaza said, its totally OKAY to upgrade HDD/MEMORY. the longer i talked, the more uncertain she was.haha. she kept asking me to call for technical support. later i called technical support, he said its totally okay to upgrade HDD/memory, and its totally okay to let those salesperson at lowyat plaza do it for you and its totally fine if the stickers are broken as long as it is for HDD/memory upgrade but a big NO NO if there are any "surgical modification" done to the laptop. smile.gif all wat the girl from the infoline has to do is learn the warranty coverage properly. is dat to much to ask? weird that she was uncertain as she obviously do not perform any technical servces to customers.atleast, get ur facts straight.

well dont want o bring an external everywhere i go. n also, i want to be able to isntall a bunch of games. my plan is to set the SSD as my boot drive, HDD as storage obviously. since the SSD will have a very limited space,i have to redirect my game isntallations, to the HDD since it has tons of storage space. smile.gif

Not really a fix, just force the CPU to run at 1.8GHz to prevent the throttling..

Pretty much when you start to push the CPU and GPU together, the CPU will throttle to 1.2GHz...

If you just stress CPU alone, it doesn't throttle..

thats mean, for example i plays crysis 2 in high setting, its will push cpu and gpu together, and throlling may happen?

emmm, then,i had heard that most of acer aspire have problem with their motherboard that make wifi cant be connected..

do this timelinex had the same problem?any user had experience with that on timeline?

Yup, it will throttle. Temporary fix for now is to force the CPU to run at modest speed so that it won't throttle and won't affect the game much...

I can't answer for the wifi problem..
Pretty much I have seen Toshiba, Asus, Acer, Compaq, Dell with wifi problem..
