Uh... Afaik, both same gpu, GT540M. Only varies in cpu. Unless you referring to graphic ram, 2gb is overkill.

The SB is a contender for me simply because it is available in the UK right now and I can check it out before buying, it uses manual switching (which means I can use discrete GPU in Linux, and I can easily choose which GPU to use) and it's very light.

Cons include it being almost double (UK price !!!) the price of the 4830 Malaysian price, worse GPU, and possibly some build/design issues (although the display model I saw looked very nice).

I think there is a model with an upgraded gpu in some countries.

I've already done that. The cores go up to 84 degrees max when running Halflife 2 on GPU recommended setting.

Lol, 4830TG not have any free gift such as additional Ram or Warranty.

That was because I was running on 2x AA and almost max setting.

I am trying Bioshock now (Yay for cheap steam sale!). Will tell results later.

most of the acer guys there like "huh?!" when I ask them about 3830... = =
most of them says they know nothing about 3830 & 5830, and finally one guy downstairs says it'll be about 4 months or so for 3830 to come... haiz, long long wait la...

just got back from PC Fair. i brought along a thumb drive with Heaven Benchmark, 3dMark11, CPUID Hardware Monitor... was hoping to see how the CPU and GPU temperature after running those benchmark...

The staff over there are nice enough to allow me to install and run it, but unfortunately, I cant get CPUID Hardware Monitor to show nVidia GPU temperature! I tried a couple of things, including

1. "Enable select graphic" in nVidia menu, then, right click Hardware Monitor to use nVidia
2. Select the default to be nVidia
3. Add Hardware monitor binary in the nVidia menu

All not working...  How exactly to get the temperature??? Fed up, i went up to Sensonic booth...

i press that as well, a dialogue box pop up saying that the button only usable when running in battery...  somehow, it work for u?

Only Aspire 4743, 4750G and 4743ZG hv free 3 years warranty and Yes Go 4G Dongle. Others don't have.

or maybe all along i've been buying from retailers like sen heng or SEC etc which offers the extended warranty on their own instead of acer.. hmmm

since my attempt to get the temp fail (may be there were too many chix around...  ), i will wait for your guys to post more temperature readings in this thread...  hopefully temperature after a gaming session like 30 minutes or more... and may be how's the fan loudness, etc... asking too much eh?

Just got myself 4830TG yesterday at PC fair.. only got the backpack and acer carrying bag for free..
They asked me for extra 9 bucks for extra stuff (those cheap 10 in 1 things which are all crap lol) and extra 100 bucks for store warranty but didn't go for these..

So far I'm really loving it.. cuz it's thin so it's not heavy for a girl like me lol (used Acer 5920G before) and currently testing the battery, says it has 4 hours left and I've been using for an hour.. so roughly 5 hours or so battery so far (doing internet browsing).. still testing it though. Buck it's really value for money compared to all other much more expensive low spec laptops I asked about at pc fair yesterday lol
