however, the points "cash value" depreciates over time.
For example, "1000 pts = RM15 fuel " becomes "950 pts = RM10 fuel".

Not for 3000 point lah. My point was better to wait up to 9 months in snigapoe case and get 1.5% back instead of about 1%.

I'm afraid ExxonMobil will revise the "3000pts=RM45 fuel" item very soon.
Now, 950 pts = RM10.
Perhaps, 3000 pts can only redeem RM35 fuel in near future.

Then you go start a Facebook protest and we all go Like it tongue.gif

If I used this card to pump diesel or petrol at Esso, I will receive more TP? Only interested in TP since can change for cool gadgets. Currently using the Maybank 2 VISA for fuel at Petronas.
*
MBB 2 Visa also earns 1x TP at ALL petrol stations. IF you really can only pump at Petronas, better get some other cards like MBB PEtronas and earn 5XTP ot CIMB Petronas and earn 2% cash back.

between maybank petronas card and cimb petronas card..
which one gives more benefit..
can i know how to calculate the benefit..
*
CIMB Petronas earns you 2% cash back at Petronas and on every 1st of the month 5%. Should have added this to 1st post. But I did mentioned thisin my article Best Credit Card for Petrol and Movies.

So compare it with MBB Petronas 5X TP which works out to be about 2.5% returns based on voucher.

So, I guess not much difference if purely for petrol. Get the card that is convenient for you to make payment.

To decide which card to get, check out MBB and CIMB promotions at their website to see if any frequent any of the merchants that offer discount with the cards.

I would say this - MBB card good if you use the card for overseas transactions as the conversion rate is lowest and many shop offering installment plans with it.
CIMB have many promotions periodically. Click here to see some of them.

QUOTE(anangryorc @ Oct 26 2011, 06:02 PM)
Hi TS,

Need advice here on getting Petrol Cash back cards.

1. I spend ~RM250 on petrol each month (Petronas)
2. I spend ~RM250 on toll fees each month
3. I spend RM0(nil) on groceries/movies/dining each month.

So my rebates will be mainly on petrol alone.
So Mesra Card is a must. How about CC? (My earning per month including allowance is more than 3k). Thanks.
*
anangryorc, for petrol I would say get a card that gives you 5% cash rebate, I guess UOB One Card for your case.

Therefore cash back you get RM12.5/month = RM150/year Less GST, you make RM100. Go read UOB One Card Thread, new members get RM88 cash back after few months. So ask about it when signing up.

As for TnG, if you reload at Plus counter, you get 0.3% cash back with One Card, RM250 you earn RM0.75/month or RM9 per year. Go to this thread to get more info and ask the experts there on how to benefit with UOB One Card.

I would suggest ocbc titanium card. My fave.
5% on petrol, groceries, bills and dining. 1% on everything else. No points though. Capped at rm50. Go to the thread for more info.

QUOTE(Jordi @ Oct 27 2011, 08:21 PM)
I have the similar situation, just that I do it on Shell. Is OCBC titanium card recommended for this?
*
cempedaklife is correct, OCBC TMC is a better card than UOB in general as it earns 5% for more kind of spending. The reason why I mentioned only UOB One Card to anangryorc is because I got no idea on his fixed income as he mentioned allowance to achieve income RM3K/month. But yah, if you guys can proof your income close to RM36K/yr or more, OCBC much better card.

8X TP weekend promo still can't beat M2's 5X TP + 5% cashback  cool2.gif  thumbup.gif
Of course the promo is good for Petronas Visa cardholders  smile.gif

In my opinion, for those who travel outstation often and pump more than RM500/month, this card is great since there is no monthly petrol cap unlike the other 5% cash back cards.

Do you actually have the card or just posting?

Do you actually get 10% from your fuel transaction itself? I really blur on the "based on the 20% total monthly retail spend" condition.

Hi, I'm using Citibank Platinum cash back + bonuslink card. My cars are only pump Shell. Dunno is it the best combination, advise pls...
*
Yah, very good if you pump less than RM600 a month (max cash back cap for Petrol with Citibank Plat CB). Only better option is Maybankard 2 AMEX where you earn 5% cash back PLUS 5X Treats Points BUT you need to pump on Saturday and Sunday AND that is if you don't use up the cash back cap for other transactions.

Maybankard 2 AMEX can pump any petrol station to earn cash back? Or restricted to Petronas only? Treats points how many point = RM1? Tq
*
The thing is, most Petronas stations DO NOT accept Amex, and those that does, you need to go to the counter. I have no problems using AMEX at ESSO and Shell. Go to Maybankard 2 Cards Thread to read more.

QUOTE(fuzzy @ May 8 2012, 09:01 AM)
Good discussion bro, but I think both our calculation bit off biggrin.gif .. Lets try to recalculate it. RHB's cashback is based on 20% of the monthly total spending, so you have to take that 10% FROM the 20%, if I assume correctly, so if he pumps petrol alone at RM400 it will mean:

RHB
1st week: (RM100 x 20% = RM20) (RM20 x 10%) = RM2
2nd week: (RM100 x 20% = RM20) (RM20 x 5%) = RM1
3rd week: (RM100 x 20% = RM20) (RM20 x 5%) = RM1
4th week: (RM100 x 20% = RM20) (RM20 x 5%) = RM1
Total: RM5

M2C
1st week: RM100 x 5% = RM5
2nd week: RM100 x 5% = RM5
3rd week: RM100 x 5% = RM5
4th week: RM100 x 5% = RM5
Total: RM20

I am not sure if you are aware that you used RM400 as the first week calculation, when RM400 is the total monthly calculation. If my calculations are more 'correct', this cashback even worse if pump petrol alone.
*
No need crack head, go get UOB One Card, Citibank Plat CB or OCBC TMC, everyday 5% cash back smile.gif

QUOTE(piao2 @ May 12 2012, 11:00 AM)
As a RHB cardholder, i feel i would like to say somethin.

Since May last year, i applied it and until now already get cash back more than RM 100. My monthly average spending of petrol is around 5-600. And total spending near 2k on that card.

Well, it may be not so attractive on cash rebate。 But if you consider just pumping the petrol will save you extra $$, i think it is worth for it.
*
piao2, assuming you spent RM500/month on petrol. That's RM6000/year just on petrol. So with RM100 cash back (for discussion, noted you mentioned above RM100), you are getting 1.67% cash back only. If you were to consider the fact you spend RM2K/month = RM24K/year, with RM100 cash back, it's like 0.417% and after you less GST, you only get RM50 cash back with RM24K spending shocking.gif

Bro, with RM1.5K spending on other stuff, if you spent your money at Hyper Markets like Tesco, Giant, Carrefour, JJ Supermarket and departmental stores like Parkson, MJ, Isetan, etc. I suggest you look into Maybankard 2 Cards.

QUOTE(ronnie @ May 13 2012, 12:19 AM)
Good for you... there's better cash-back card on Petrol than RHB CC lah  doh.gif  doh.gif
*
I agree with ronnie that there are better cash back card for petrol if you can qualify for it.

Seriously, if a person spends RM500 a month on petrol, get either UOB One Card or better still OCBC Titanium MasterCard and earn 5% cash back everyday for petrol. That's RM25/month or RM300/year cash back just on petrol.
