Those who are buying car accessories, pls beware when you buy things frm Brother's, I've the most experience of my life after I visited them. Started off I would like to install a player in my car, and this is my interactions with them.

1) After browsing, I've relay my requirements to the staff (player need to have usb, need to support divx/avi, blue tooth,etc.), and the staff recommended me a player. After buying it and went home, I open the menu and it says only support wmv (no divx stated). Call them and spoken to a chinese guy, give him the model number and he said "no worries, nowadays all format are supported including divx". Later I'm still not too convinced and call them again, spoken to another guy and he said 'Oh actually we are waiting for you to call back, and our staff have recommended wrong product to you',so you can come back to switch model. At the moment I've bought a wrong player and a blue tooth adaptor that cost around $1000.
2) Due to the amt paid, now I was forced to select another model that cost the same price or top up. Hence I've settled with a kenwood player, but I've discarded the blue tooth adaptor and switch to a lcd monitor instead, and due to the balance of the amt paid (- the price for the Kenwood player), I need to select a monitor around the range of $500, and they recommended me a china brand monitor, which I'm alright with it. At this point I'm quite in a rush and didn't scrutinise the installation.
3) Later I realised the monitor doesn't have a frame in it, thus I went to check on their website and the menu for details, and below pic shows what I've found out:

Thus I called them again to ask and this is what they say "oh the website, we put the frame there so that it looks nice, actual player doesn't come with a frame", then I ask why the manual state pkg includes a 'spare frame' (meaning there's an original plus a spare frame)...the guy kept silent awhile and repeat 'oh..no the player come by itself,no frame 1, but if you want to add frame it'll be another $60-$70. (I was like what!? for that thin little platic frame that cost around 2 cents to make in china and you are charging me that price???!!!
4) Til now I'll I know is that these guys are the worst liar that you can get, thinking back, how can a china brand lcd player (on the pic) cost around $500 today??it's not exactly high tech so to speak and it's just a basic set, thus I've ask my friend to call them and quote the model number to ask for price, and the guys said oh, it's only $300+. I was furious and I call them again, told them why I called my friend to check and the price is $300+ while I bought it for $500, the guy on the phone stun abit and said oh, sorry we got it wrong, actually the price is always $500, not $300, wrong info given...........
5) After all these, I've sent an email to their management and ask for explanation, which they just ignore (typical local co. attitude).......

I was thinking of bringing this ppl to tribunal, enough of this M'sia 'ok lah' attitude....

Hence if you want to buy frm brothers, beware dudes, I know most ppl say they ship in large vol thus can provide cheaper price. As for me, I'd rather pay more to honest small timers, you'll have to cut my head for me to buy stuff frm them again. Just to share. Also for all the sifus, any good recommendation to any honest car accessories shop? I would like to buy some more for my other 2 cars......

Dude, bring it up to the tribunal.... at least you show them that YOU knows your rights as a consumer.... wont hurt them much, but you get back your hard earned money...

Well you have yourself to blame for not checking the product properly before leaving the shop.

I also experienced a similar incident with the brothers of Ipoh branch. Was looking for a alarm to replace my waja original unit and was quoted a RM65 alarm which they say is compatible with waja.So I agreed and came back with my car.When they were going to install the unit,suddenly they ask me topup RM40 for a so called relay in order for the alarm to work with the waja central locking.I got furious as they never told me beforehand and I angrily asked them to put everything back to my car and I just drove off and got my alarm installed elsewhere for RM60.

kelana jaya is the headquarter for brothers.....last week i also experienced some unhappy things in brothers of puchong branches. that time i wan to buy the eyelid with some LED for the myvi....the workers' attitude is totally is the worst...like dun like u buy the things from there...finally i bought nothing from there...

not the first time things like this happen, nowadays, asking advice/reco. from from acc. shop ( unless they are your friend) is just like asking yourself to get slaughter, next time do some research first before buying...

TS u can bring this case to tribunal court, the chances of winning is quite high.

i've decided not to patronise their shops anymore after getting a bad service from their staff.. the things are not that cheap either.

it's better to scout around a few accessories shop for the best price, most of them outside are not too bad

You are quite right, I've did some research asking around, and most of them said they can't compete with Brother's price and recommended me to go there instead. Since most ppl recommended me the same place, I placed my guard down thinking it's a reputable company, to bad it aint. Well I'm not going back there that's for sure, no matter what....

But my intention is to create awareness (not getting revenge or something), as much as I like to go for tribunal, there're other daily chores to take care off (but will definitely look into the tribunal seriously once I've the time). And more importantly to seek advise from all the sifu here, to recommend a reputable car accessories shop, with so many around, I think there should be some who are honest and helpful.

I remember few years ago when I last when there to survey for car audio player with mp3 playback. The player cap abang price is quite attractive, so i asked for inquiry.

Then there's a fella who worked there told me not to get it, which is weird for a company whom good at milking customers. His last day of the job I dunno but he was kind enough to show me how bad was it by dismantling it, the frame, buttons, knob & lcd with just his fingernail. I was suprised to see that how honest the worker was. So I thanked him & left.

Imagine that a worker from abang telling customer how bad abang own product was. He's probably being fired after that.

Abang brand product is bad, undeniable, most of them is made in China, but others brand is just same as other shop, maybe sometimes price little bit lower.

Already asked them, they said if I choose cheaper stuff, they can't given balance cash back, which I'm ok as long you don't go the extreme, but seems that they are seriously short sighted, well just myself to blame, but the rest pls be careful.

No such thing, use this point to the tribunal. Now is their fault to give u wrong product, and of course after change the balance must return. You shouldn't compromise in the 1st place. If u just getting that Kenwood player u won't have such hassle now.

I got my Sony HU that cost RM700 in brothers, but cost RM900 outside...

dont bother getting those Brothers brand or other china/brandless

well at this point, I'll rather pay the extra $200 difference to honest ppl, I'm not rich with the limited money I have, I'd rather spend on honest ppl and get a appropriate service. I will only go back to Brothers if I woke up 1 day and found that the sun is triangular in shape mm..any recommendations will be good, I'm not getting any so far...

last time i change my HU to kenwood at Abang and they told me to use adapter to prevent from cutting wire.The price for the adapter is RM60!crazy insane for such that adapter which only consist of few wires.. i dont mind paying RM60 if that wire made from gold .

i am sorry to hear your case.

If the item is not the same feature, brand or spec as what it should be as discussed, you can have a refund. But this is the last solution we will go.

For better option, we should try to settle it with the exchanging to the correct model with limited topup or free if the item are having very similar price. Doing this will not harm you or the seller and you guys can get mutual understanding. I believe TS is trying to solve the problem and create less trouble for both party.

As for the pricing survey, this is for sure the worst answer getting. I believe the higher price they sell you the monitor is because they just wanna use the less product to exchange with the money you just spend, so they just mark up the max price they can in order to not refund you any single cents....which are quite common case in most cash and carry shop.

My last advice is, buy smart. If the difference in price are not more than 15%, then get if from the shop you trusted. After so many years of online trading, i only believe in "service charge but not product price". You pay less and they earn nothing, sure they will treat you bad when you need their service because the service are not paid...

Although some may say that selling cheap is the best way to attract customer and after sales service are actually included in the product price no matter how cheap it is, but for me i rather pay a little bit more for a peace of mind, better workmanship and reliable sales person. Survey is a must, then you know who is more reliable and who is the liar.

yeah, tks for the tip. and I can't agree with you more, I too would rather pay a lil' bit more to get what I want, rather than paying cheap and getting what they want to sell (not what I want)......well I still wanna prop out 2 of my other cars, any sifu here can recommend shop with honest ppl? I wouldn't mind paying a lil' bit more for their honestly and good service.

I usually buy Sony stuff from Brothers. Never opt for installation as their workmanship is horrible.

BTW, next time do some home work before buying... never ask the staff there for recommendation... all hopeless/useless makan gaji buta one.

Last time they install my Wira MIVEC cd player, end up I need to repair again at home.

You can try JP Enterprise @ Dataran Sunway, i did my flyaudio HU and fullbody soundproofing there, workmanship is good and work done very fast. PM me if you need more info

went to brothers ampang branch, was finding for earth cable. They are selling those fake hks for rm58! worse part? my rm9.90 gtr emblem was stolen in front of their shop.

Went to other shop and found the exact same earth cable selling for only rm18.

So much for their reputation. Thieves and con Mans

Ps. I parked directly in front of the shop. There were more than 5 men there. The emblem was there when I left a workshop earlier before going to brothers, and the emblem was stuck with3m double sided foam tape on the grill. It didn't fell off as I saw it on a reflection at a back of a car 15 minutes before I arrive at brothers.

totally agreed.i once bought double din player + component speaker from them & installed it there.they also recommend me to put car insulation mat when installing the component speaker. the mat price around rm90 & i agreed.
i leave my car & collect it after work.i thought all should be fine until 6 month later when my power window broken(proton waja usual problem).when i replace the power window by myself, i'm totally shocked when i found there is no insulation map installed around my component speaker. i try to check with the other side, also same.The Brothers worker cheat me.omai...

i stopped going to Brothers a long long time ago. Low quality inferior products, questionable workmanship...

now i get all my car accessories at Sisters

There's lots of acc shops selling cheap low quality stuffs.... Brothers are not the first nor the last in this business.... Some so-called high end shop also dare to sell fake and yet people still believe it is real and praise them like god.....

It happenes to me a couple days ago. I installed dynavin player c/w reverse camera. Unfortunate, my luck not there. The reverse camera suddenly malfunction after 8 months in service. I called the sales girl and she said there is no warranty for that. I looked at the receipt, it stated 1 year warranty. Now, i have to buy new reverse camera & i add relay to protect the things. On top of that, i have to pay another installation fee which caused me rm45 just to install. What the heck man!!. Since I'm need them urgently, just bare the cost. I will not buy or be related with Brothers anymore. They kill us with a lot of cost.

I'm would not come to Brothers again. I urge people who read this to stay away from them. If you are lucky, you will suffer just like me.

Called them up and ask for carpet..give car model and all..say rm100+..u come la u come to my outlet..

Went to outlet to ask for carpet.. Ask how much..keep saying 100+ 100+..ask the guy rm100+ is 120 or 199..he didnt reply at all..

I only buy from Brothers those cash & carry items like washer liquid, car wash shampoo and other small stuff... never ever buy stuff need to be installed from them. Even worse is asking them to install for you.

Maybe can go there do window shopping then go to another accessories shop to do.

Let this be a lesson to all who is reading this here.

How to find this tribunal court please ? I was ripped off by an electrical repair shop behind petronas petrol station in Jalan Cempaka called (LEE). My car stopped suddenly, so he tested and said battery died. So he put a new battery and charged me RM 290. two days later car died again, so he said it is the alternator. I asked him to take back his battery and give me back my original battery which was in good condition. He refused and said battery sold no return maaa. Then he charged me RM550 for recon alternator. Later I knew that the battery he sold me is sold at RM 180 in most shops and recon alternator is at RM 250.

Please where is this tribunal court ??

I only buy silicon wipers from Brothers. Nothing else.its cheap.
