Currently listening back to older numbers such as Megadeth's Rust in Peace and some other non-metal like Tool's Lateralus and Staind's Dysfunction something which I dislike about those so-called goth metal bands is that they're too melodic, sometimes too slow to be called 'metal'. some barely even had solos on them.

QUOTE(Wolfgard @ Mar 28 2006, 03:59 AM) I do listen to symphonic metal (Nightwish, Therion, Kamelot, Rhapsody to name a few) and Goth metal (Lacuna Coil). But I still prefer power/epic metal songs like those from Blind Guardian or Virgin Steele compared to pure symphonic because they're faster and more 'trashy'. Oh yeah, if you're into symphonic metal, give the Trans Siberian Ochestra a try. Interesting stuff imo. As for Doom metal, the only band that I listen to is Cathedral. But only casually since I'm not a big fan of the genre. hmmm, i jz download trans siberian orchestra, do they consider as symphonic ? i tot it was progressive orchestral metal ? they rocks haha. I reason to therion nightwish kamelot, epica, sirenia and tristania all that ehhe. moonspell not bad though xnobys thanks for the recommendation, will try to get their song in the *ahem way. hehe This post has been edited by Teong85: Mar 28 2006, 10:05 PM

Nuclearblast news:-
NOW IN STORES BAL-SAGOTH "The Chthonic Chronicles" "Raging guitars und deadly fast riffing alternating with ingenious melodies. But when the Keyboards join the fold, the magic of BAL-SAGOTH is revealed as a whole. Then king-size metalsongs mutate to epic hymns made for all eternities"
Latest news CANDLEMASS Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS have recorded four new songs with producer Andy Sneap at the new Polar studios in Stockholm, Sweden. "The songs are pretty much in the same vein as the stuff on the [self-titled 2005] reunion album, maybe a bit darker," says bassist/songwriter Leif Edling. CANDLEMASS's next studio session will take place in May. The band's new album is tentatively scheduled for release in October 2006
MALEVOLENT CREATION Florida death metal warriors MALEVOLENT CREATION are currently in pre production for they're 10 studio album "Doomsday X". Recording's will take place in Pompano Beach, FL at Mercury recording studio's in May with engineer Gus Rios and then off to Denmark with producer Tue Madsen for the mixing. "We need to have a massive production for this 10th record because this recording mean's a lot to us and we plan on touring for the next 2 years in support of it. All the band's members are contributing to the writing of this new album so there will be a lot of different influences on this record. The music will be extremely heavy and insanely fast," according to the band members. "Doomsday X" is expected to be released in September followed by a massive European tour with Disgorge and Skinless in support.
NIGHTWISH NIGHTWISH were honored in the "Best Finnish Artist" and "Top -Selling Album" categories at the Emma-Gaala (Finnish equivalent of the Grammys), which was held on Saturday, March 4 at the Kulttuuritalolla in Helsinki. Congratulations
DIMMU BORGIR Silenoz, Shagrath and Galder of Norwegian symphonic black metal masters DIMMU BORGIR have announced an exclusive signing session on Saturday, April 1st at the Musikmesse Frankfurt/Main (Germany). The Session will take place at 2pm at the booth of their Norwegian guitar endorser ESP.
ANTHRAX ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian was recently featured as an extra on HBO's "Deadwood". Scott plays a bodyguard protecting George Hearst.
RAGE In a recent interview with BW&BK , RAGE frontman/founder Peter "Peavy" Wagner discussed the difference between composing with an orchestra for their new album, Speak Of The Dead, versus the way they composed the classical pieces for the Lingua Mortis album in 1996: Peavy: "It was a completely different thing this time around. Victor (Smolski/guitars) composed and arranged everything for the orchestra by himself, and I did compose some of the classical material. I was involved at the very beginning when we discussed what kind of direction the new album was going to take. But when we got together to rehearse the ideas I saw that Victor had everything straight in his mind. We decided that Victor would focus on the orchestral thing and I would take care of the metal stuff. So really, it's the best of both worlds on this album."
IN FLAMES IN FLAMES bassist Peter Iwers has posted the following message at the band's official website:
"Dublin - Ireland - Ohoy Sailors. We are in Dublin now for the first time ever and it's great to be here. You would think that I would take this opportunity to get out and see stuff, but I've actually spent the entire day in my hotel room. Enjoying some private time for a change, but tomorrow I'll be out and check things out. I've heard a lot of things about shows in Ireland, and I really hope that tomorrow's sold-out show will be as great as all those rumours promises. But I think so. This whole tour has been amazing like I said before, and our first time as headliners on a UK-tour is working out really well so far as well. The shows have been crazy. One time, (at bandcamp) we went to the pub (of course) to watch some soccer with our friends in SEPULTURA. Of course the game was cancelled due to rain, so we decided to start a FIFA tournament on the x-box instead. So far only a few games have been played but hell what everybody gets wired up around this. Hehe... me too. That's it for now my friends."
