Nicholas from ex Cradle of filth and ex dimmu borgir is a good drummer too but he has attitude problem, which explains why he was kicked out from both bands/

Yup- slipknot and mushroom head are nu-metal/rock- not here....
If you listen to emperor, Obituary/ carcass then compare with slipknot or mushroomhead, you will understand what is REAL METAL!!

I dunno, slipknot 1st album was ok, but after that...everything sounds like american garbage rock.

More links on metal for your noobies- welcome to the real world!!

btw, anybody listen to Samael? i got into them when i was in school ages ago. they're not really black, not death. kinda cross between doom, black and industrial. lol you can tell i'm a bit confused. but one thing i know is that their music reek of evilness! if someone were to ask me what Satan would sound like if he had a band, it'd be like Samael!

but try searching for this song: Black Trip from the album Ceremony Of Opposites. that's my fav song by them.

but they might not be everyone's cup of tea tho...

Samael, along with rotting christ and most black metal bands have continued to evolved their sound and style of play. You really gotta follow the band's progression !!

Amorphis- Death - slowly changed to progressive metal.
Sentenced-Death/Black- changed to progressive metal ( or is it? cant really categorize it)
Therion-Death- changed to orchestra symphony metal fusion- The only one in its class!
Carcass-Grind/Death/Nu-metal
PyogenesiS=one of the best death metal bands till they change to alternative....wtf....
Pantera= glam metal (yes!! big hair metal!!) to hard core

Say - anyone heard of Winds before?
Oh yeah...you guys should check out sopor aeternus (www.soporaeternus.de) really dark/gloomy metal. interesting concept.

How come no one mentioned opeth here? Listen to nectar on their morningrise album and you'll be hooked... my arms your hearse is a heavier album worthy of the black metal genre... but my favourite is still

COF - dusk and her embrace and midian
moonspell - wolfheart
dimmu borgir's - enthrone darkness triumphant
emperor - anthems to the welkin at dusk
therion - theli, vovin
pantera - the great southern trendkill

of worthy mentions are theatre of tragedy, rhapsody, children of bodom, amorphis, in flames which has all been mentioned in this thread...

Well, the last carcass album (swansong) was really like rock.metal hybrid. kinda regret buying that album
I will definetly buy the last sentenced album. ive been following their progress since north from here album and their latest album "the cold white light" is really impressive- great reviews everywhere.

Oh yeah. i caught a glimpse of Dimmu borgir's latest video "Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse" -Seriously, one of the best METAL video i have seen to date. Check it out

I think, for noobies to metal, here are probably some easy albums to get into before you get into the heavy stuff (emperor, absu,SYL)

1)sentenced - the cold white light
2)amorphis -elegy
3)Bathory-hammerheart,norland 1 & 2
4)Therion- any album
5)Death-sound of perserverence
6)Satryicon-Volcano
7)Theatres des vampires-suicide vampire
8)Kreator-Violent revolution
9)Dimmu borgir-Death Cult Armageddon
10)Arch Enemy-
11)Carcass-heartwork

Nick Barker left Dimmu Borgir already?

lepas CoF, Dimmu Borgir. which band after this huh...

yeah Carcass' Swansong was pretty dissapointing. Heartwork was good, they should've continued that concept.

Abt Opeth, I love them, but i can't listem to them continuously for long. the prog-metal sound drones slowly when played for too long. Ackerfeldt is a genius though. He created lots of beautiful melodies.

btw are there any fans of the mighty Sil Khannaz here?
