hey...are all of d metal bands here scream incoherently? i'm deeply annoyed with the incomprehensible voice of most metal bands... but lately i grew into Alexi Laiho's Children of Bodom, particularly for its hyper guitar riffs.

so guys....any good bands to recommend me? i dont mind headcrushing drums or guitar riffs n solos, but i really cant accept thrashy voice. any bands to kickstart? preferably metal bands with clear voices

Roadrunner United, Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium although some songs also scream but nice.

Slayer has clean voice.
Megadeth has clean voice.

What else... Iced Earth, Kreator...

Both are considered legends also.

Those you were referring about aren't called thrashy voice, but harsh voice, or screaming. Thrash metal don't use harsh voice.

And all power metal bands should have clean singing style.

Harsh voice singing like Deicide, that's more to growling vocals where you can't hear properly of the vocalist's lyrics. Also check out Suffocation. Correct me.

slayer n megadeth? the song 'eyes of d insane' is bloody crappy, didnt like that at 1st listen. pbly christ illusion is a crappy album? any Raining Blood or Angel of Death sounds in there?

if the guitarplay is good enough then pbly i'll try ignoring d voice, like this one song from Amon Amarth... tho i cant really remember what song it is...

hey soulfly... power metal bands? such as what, exactly? Killswitch Engage? i hate nasal singing too, like Avenged Sevenfold's Beast and the Harlot... i didnt even cared to listen to the whole song, it irrate d hell out of me.
but their song from Waking the Fallen, Second Heartbeat (which includes a fantastic closing solo) is an example of metal that i like

let's see...how bout Bullet for my Valentine? the song Tears Dont Fall is brilliant, again, with fantastic closing solo.

Guess what guys? i was at rock corner midvalley yesterday and they had a bunch of metal albums on sales - dark tranquility, TO DIE FOR, nevermore...etc...etc..all retailing for RM70++ - 120++
freaking expensive....

well, its just a matter of time until thumpy ick graduates to heavier stuff like emperor, bathory, COF, ....heck, even KITTY have growls!!

Power metal bands are like Hammerfall, Dragonforce, those flamboyant singing style

Killswitch Engage should be metal core, but they're awesome. I love Howards' clean singing. They're riffs are more towards metal than just metal core. Their cover of Dio's Holy Diver is superb and brilliant!

I don't listen to Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, those kind of bands, totally dislike them in many aspects

Slayer's Christ Illusion is not my cup of tea as well. I prefer older albums.

just normal imported. not even special editions except to die for's epilogue album which is prepack with their 1st album. so 2 cd pack costs RM120.

Slayer, yeah. i agree with soulfly. the new slayer is really really hard to swallow. im no purist and im a strong believer in progressive change/improvement such as sentenced, emperor, amorphis but slayer just went downhill after the south of heaven.

amorphis new album kinda like paradise lost's draconian times....i like.
obituary.....err....same stuff...nothing much different. once listen, now deleted.

oh by the way did anybody read the news about CARCASS reunion already?

i mean... it's CARCASS man!!!!

guys, anyone here into the local scene? well, ive been invovled in my friends band lately. Don't know if u guys have heard them before but its called 'Modar'. It's actually theyre second lineup, cos they started way back in the early 90's. Anyway its a doom metal band, and theyve been peforming at various local gigs. pls do check them out at www.myspace.com/modarband, There are a couple of songs there. btw, theyre latest album 'in my meditatin time' is out now. if u guys or anyone u know wants em, then i can get it for u.. there are around 800 units left. i think its rm15 per cd, and no its not an ep, they dont have a label so its all self sponsored. so do support the local scene when possible. thx..

well, truth be told, im not really into any local bands at the moment but all the best to you .

mike amott said that he, together with bill steer and jeff walker, plus daniel erlandsson had been rehearsing older Carcass materials. currently arch enemy has tight schedule, but they're gonna have reunion tour after that... which is probably next year.

megadeth, if u like guitars u may try out some of their older works such as hangar 18.
avenged sevenfold slow songs are pretty good such as seize the day

u may also want to check dream theater out...
or if ur into just the instrument, marty friedman.

Harsh vocals scare you? Then try these:

Iron Maiden
Machine Head (Early albums yes, later ones are craptastic)
Mercenary
Nevermore

and what the heck, King Diamond.

I've just returned from Dimmu Borgir's gig just now.. The opening band were Engel and Amon Amarth.. I'll post the pics after class tomorrow. Shagrath seems a bit chubby

amon amarth OPENING for dimmu borgir?! wow..... i think amon amarth will always be opening for people if all their materials sounds the same....

oh yeah- anyone from penang here? know what happened to the metal shop in prangin mall moved to? damn hard to find asialink cds in penang man....
