the Rammstein single is out on the torrent sites, after hearing it, it does not seem to have the heaviness or high energy level of the songs in their previous album, will have to wait for the album and see smile.gif

Roadrunner records all-star compilation details has been revealed :
QUOTE
The complete details have been announced for the upcoming ROADRUNNER UNITED "The All-Star Sessions" CD, due in stores on October 11, 2005, via Roadrunner Records. Boasting 57 artists from 45 of Roadrunner's past and present bands, the album will contain original tracks that are collaborations between numerous Roadrunner stars.

Four central musicians were originally chosen to produce and write the songs. Joey Jordison (SLIPKNOT), Dino Cazares (ex-FEAR FACTORY/BRUJERIA), Robert Flynn (MACHINE HEAD) and Matthew Heafy (TRIVIUM). These four musicians play on the songs they have written and have also assembled a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician has played for more than one writer/producer and each song features a different vocalist.

Seems interesting, can't wait 4 it thumbup.gif

Rob Zombie has a new line-up (xcept the bassist) for his band but it seems they r going to release their old album-Hellbilly Deluxe AGAIN with an extra DVD featuring videos for ALL the songs on the album and are also recording a new album.
John 5 (x-Marilyn Manson) is now his guitarist and Alice Cooper's drummer is playing drums for him. But Rob Zombie's music is always somehow like techno style,i bet he can recreate everything himself biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

FoundryMusic.com has uploaded a video file containing footage of OZZY OSBOURNE and his solo band - including guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Mike Bordin and bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (ROB ZOMBIE) - making a "surprise" appearance Thursday night (Sept. 8) in Foxboro, Mass., as part of ABC's "NFL Kickoff" show leading into the season opener between the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders at Gillette Stadium. Wearing a Patriots jersey, Ozzy allegedly "lip-synched" his way through a version of "Crazy Train" from atop the New England Patriots football helmet while the team came running through onto the field. (NOTE: Ozzy is believed to have sung along to a pre-recorded vocal track, with his live singing voice audible during portions of the broadcast). Download the video at this location.

anyway u guys heard Opeth's new album, quite awesome i must say, i've heard of them before but not much of a fan, but listening to this album (Ghost Reveries) made me go hunting for all of their past albums, the 1st single is good ('the grand conjuration') & another song on the album has 'middle-eastern' kinda like riffs , all their songs are quite long too by the way (the longest song from them i belive is 20 minutes), well i guess it's the norm for progressive bands biggrin.gif thumbup.gif

i wonder if this was posted b4, but an entertaining guide/parody of nu-metal bands

LOL :

QUOTE
The late-nineties saw witness to the rise in number of "nu-metal" bands. Look a the US rock scene - everyone and their Grandma are downtuning their guitars and wearing baggy pants. Thanks to Korn's rise to superstardom, Limp Bizkit taking over the airwaves and Linkin Park turning teeny poppers into fashion victims, more and more untalented musicians are turning to rap-rock, death-pop, or whatever they call this genre for easy money.

By following these simple and easy to follow guide you too can form your own nu-metal band, musical proficiency not needed.

1) You must cover an 1980s novelty song for your debut release. This is not an option

2) You need a gimmick. This is essentially important for the vocalist (they're not singers) be it bullied at school, self-mutilation, playing the bagpipes or spooky appearance.

3) Recruit a female bassist. This will lead to initial magazine exposure before the critics notice you can't actually play. By this time you will have built up a hardcore following of teenage boys.

4) Write some songs. About 12 will fill up an album. Don't worry about B-Sides, use crap remixes instead. A whole remix album would be perfect!

5) Incorporate a trendy DJ member into the band for that 21st Century feel.

6) Claim to be "down" with your fans. Express your thoughts on topics you have no clue about such as the Presidential elections and rage how much Britney Spears sucks. Never speak up about anything remotely important.

7) Recruit lots of band members. About eight or nine is about right. Having three members is so passe nowadays.

8) Request famed nu-metal produced Ross Robinson to produce your debut. He will declare it to be most intense, pissed-off music ever released. Until the next one.

9) Claim Black Sabbath are your favourite band. Even if you've never heard of them, it's just cool to declare the Brummies as 'gods'.

10) Get the music press to compare your band to the Deftones and Tool and moan about how much you hate the comparisons. Put across that your own band are here to save music from all the rubbish currently in the charts even if your band are indeed rubbish.

You have not completed the 10 steps to becoming a trendy US nu-metal band. Go forth and sell one million copies of your debut album to the America youth and then disappear.

Nickelback's upcoming album features a track that has a previously unheard guitar solo from the late Dimebag Darrell :
QUOTE
NICKELBACK's track "Side of a Bullet", which features a previously unheard guitar solo from late PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, has been posted online at VH1.com.

"Side of a Bullet", which was written by NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger as a tribute to his fallen friend, comes off NICKELBACK's upcoming album, "All the Right Reasons", due on October 4 via Roadrunner Records. Kroeger initially wanted Abbott's brother, PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul, to play drums on the track, but Paul didn't think he could improve on NICKELBACK drummer Daniel Adair's take. Kroeger told Launch that Paul put another idea in motion instead. "Darrell's wife, Rita, got in touch with us and just started sending us all this stuff, like, him playing so many different solos, and we pieced this solo together and it fits the song so well," Chad said. "And it's kind of spooky to be singing about him, you know, your friend who's gone, and then have him play this shredding, amazing guitar solo."

Kroeger roars in the song's chorus: "How could you take his life away (What made you think you had the right?)/ How could you be so full of hate (To take away somebody's life?)/ When I heard you let him die and leave the world, I wondered why/ I sat and home and on my own, I cried alone and scratched your name in the side of a bullet."

"Side of a Bullet" was written three months after Abbott was shot to death by a disturbed gunman during a December 8, 2004 DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, Ohio. Kroeger told Launch how he felt when he heard about Abbott's death and how he's dealt with it since. "I was very, very upset and really angry," he said. "I couldn't understand why somebody would do that. I stay in touch, I call Vinnie and just try and keep his mind off of things. It's nice to let him know that he could just call you up and talk about anything - it doesn't have to be about Darrell - and just be there for him."

And in an unrelated news to metal music but to a band, Tripp Eisen (Dope,ex-Static-X) has pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor (14-yr gal) & is going to prison for 1 year doh.gif doh.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

QUOTE
former STATIC-X and DOPE guitarist Tripp Eisen has pled guilty to having oral sex with a minor and will serve one year in California State prison on that charge.

On June 24 Eisen accepted a plea bargain in California for "having oral sex with a person younger than fourteen years old and more than ten years younger than him," stemming from a February arrest, according to Orange County Superior Court manager Gai Spickard. A date for his incarceration has yet to be set. At the time of his arrest, the guitarist posted $100,000 bail and fled the state - only to be discovered when arrested for another sex-related offense, in New Jersey, just two weeks later.

On October 7, Eisen, born Tod Rex Salvador, will face another series of sex-related charges when arraigned before a trial judge in New Jersey. EisenWinnie Comfort. A local woman claimed that her fourteen-year-old daughter had sex with Eisen, who was posing as his own impersonator, leading to the guitarist's indictment by a grand jury in June on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, enticing a minor and endangering the welfare of a child.

hahah, chk out this story, i symphatize witht the metalheads in Turkey whom couldn't enjoy a superb show
QUOTE
German thrashers KREATOR were forced to cancel their appearance at the Izmir Rock Festival in Turkey on Saturday, October 1.

Commented mainman Mille Petrozza: "We are very disapointed about the unacceptable conditions we had to face in Izmir last Saturday! The band was looking foreward to play this part of Turkey for the first time, but were not willing to risk our lives or the lives of our fans! We believe that the Izmir audience deserves a real KREATOR show, all or nothing, no f***ing compromise! End of story!!!!!"

Pit Bender, KREATOR's tour manager, sent the following more detailed statement regarding the cancellation:

"Because of risk of danger, especially stage and lightrigg, we were not able at all to put on a show in Izmir. All efforts to make the organization change these technical conditions failed and in last consequence after several hours of discussion, we unfortunately had to make this decision.

1. The stage structure was way too unstable and wouldn't hold any pressure through an intense KREATOR show of two hours, especially with the great audience that we've always experienced in Turkey...

2. Light rig, stage: all four towers were not safe; any pressure, physically, could have made it come down.

3. The stage had no roof. Halfway through the show there would have been heavy rain, so the show would have to be stopped anyway, with the risk of electric shocks etc.

4. No efforts at all by the promoters to have proper and safe conditions for the audience and the band.

5. After all this and under these circumstances we finally had to come to this decision.

We feel very sorry for all of our disapointed fans out in Izmir, but hope to come back under better and especially safe circumstances."

Satanic cult may be back again

BY TUNKU SHAHARIAH

SUNGAI PETANI: A youth cult that shocked many parents years ago with its satanic rituals, which included drinking the blood of a slaughtered goat, is believed to have made a comeback.

"We are aware of two groups, one calling itself Black Metal and the other, Red Rover, comprising mostly teenage boys," said Kuala Muda district religious department enforcement officer Kamaruddin Kassim.

He said they would gather at a shopping complex here every Saturday, adding that the boys usually wore black T-shirts and black jeans while the girls would wear knee-high skirts.

"Some of them spot black eyeliners around the eyes," he said yesterday.

Kamaruddin said the members would loiter around the shopping mall to recruit other teenagers and school leavers.

"This is very worrying. We're placing undercover officers to monitor the situation," he said.

Kamaruddin declined to say if the recent disappearance of two youths was related to the cult.

UiTM law student Azzem Izzat Ahmaduniawi Rahimin, 18, went missing from a shopping complex here on Sept 24 while clerk Shaharil Mohd Yusiff, 22, went missing on Sept 20 while on his way to work.

Both have since returned to their respective families.

The cult caused a stir several years back to the extent that it became a Cabinet issue.

A 16-year-old ex-cult leader reportedly said the head of a slaughtered goat would be placed on an upturned red cross planted in the ground and its blood collected and served to members.

Kamaruddin said the department was working closely with the police to monitor the activities of suspected cult members. The cult is said to be active here and in Baling.

He said although the department had not received any reports, there had been talk of a re-emergence of the cult, headed by a foreigner.

It is also believed that followers, mainly youths aged between 18 and 22, would burn holy text of various religions, including the Quran.

They would get high through incantations and would tear up and urinate on the Quran and other holy scriptures.

yeah agree with all u ppl's thoughts, the Gov find it easier to blame us than the mainstream music which are on the charts and getting rotated on radio all the time, blame the kid with black attire, blame the headbanging kid (who is summoning the Devil, tongue.gif ), blame the loud music and cookie-monster style vocals (although the lyrics are most of the time more relevant and has something thoughtful than other genre's) and it doesn't help us when some of this dumb kids who listen to rock music take it to another level, and start doing dumb things (like the article i posted earlier), these immature kids shud really think for themselves and not follow blindly what is being said in the lyrics or music (tat's for any genre)
I'm just wondering if the authorities have ever turned on MTV/V (any music channel) and watched what's being shown most of the time, u can juz watch for 30 minutes and half the videos will look like the guy's directing it actually wanted to do a Porn movie but restrained himself and did a so-called 'cool & hip' music video for the music station. (not to say that rock/metal videos dun showcase this but it's i wud say on a ratio of 1:20, but even then the lyrics actually do HAVE a meaning-Marilyn Manson's (S)aint come's to mind)
Nevertheless, i'm sure nobody here is gonna stop to listen their musci they love juz bcoz some idiot took it to an extreme level in what he/she believes in.
