just to share the news...

to those who layan the grindcore music during the Earache's heyday years (early 90's) might probably know Jesse Pintado...
ex-guitarist of Napalm Death, Jesse Pintado had passed away in 27 Aug due to liver failure...
probably caused by excessive alcohol consumption...
damn, i watched him play when ND came to m'sia...

anyway, he managed to revived Terrorizer prior to his demise and the album Darker Days Ahead has been released... inclusive the new version their classic 'the dead shall rise" from their world downfall album...

I have that album already...any other album worth recommending?

p/s I already have all of Metallica's early stuff.

edit: thanks carpathia, will try those you mentioned. Power metal? So far I've only got Dragonforce  blush.gif  Tried some Symphony X, but didn't really like them.

Thanks for all the help guys smile.gif
*
have u tried anthrax?
try their early stuffs like among the living, state of euphoria, persistence of time, etc...
they were part of big four in 90's heavy metal after all...
aside from metallica, megadeth and slayer that is...

QUOTE(jackanory @ Oct 7 2006, 07:46 PM)
u fellas should check out testament, quite ok, almost like metallica, even the live shows. tiru metallica to the max. but their quite ok tho.
*
i'm with you man...
testament sound exactly like early metallica especially in their legacy and new order album...
but chuck billy sounded more like mustaine in their souls of black album...

xnobys.. seeing ur avatar make me wanna dig of where the hell I've misplaced my Godflesh cassette. Love them so much last time.. 'Streetcleaner' is the best oned! besides 'Slavestate', 'Coldwar', 'Pure' and 'Selfless'.. Do have 'Love and Hate in Dub'? smile.gif

QUOTE(danielwan @ Jan 21 2007, 04:35 PM)
Waaa.. For me Godflesh can be considered as one of the pioneers of Industrial Metal. They are the first one who to crossover the barrier between metal and industrial music. Even Ministry, NiN and Fear Factor regards them as their influenced. Maybe too bored with Napalm Death forcing Justin Broadrick to form Godflesh... I think  hmm.gif

I cited them as the most innovative different band of that era (circa 1998-2002). They even can demonstrated a lo-fi production hence yet creating a heavy, metal pounding sounds! Do u know that Kirk Hammet even cited them as their influenced and such a huge fans of Godflesh as well?  thumbup.gif

If u happened to watch a movie called 'Hideaway' (Jeff Goldblum, Alicia Silverstone..etc) based frm Dean Koontz novel, the whole OST is performing by Godflesh!

Pitch Shifter or Pitchshifter? There are 2 different era for this Nottingham Industrial group. But both r still with JS Clayden on its vocal orr err..samples voice. Yet I remember playing 'Test Drive 5' and 'Twisted Metal 3' on Sony PS and hear them on it! heheh.. Yup 'Submit', 'Desensitized' and 'Infotaiment' is the last heavy music from them b4 they changed their style and named the band as Pitchshifter. Following the merging of Earache record with Sony (columbia).  blush.gif
*
justin was actually unhappy with the way napalm was heading musically. so he joined fall of because of which he met up with g.c. green and paul neville. iinm justin left to shortly after that and formed his own band head of david. the band was not successful so he contacted green to form godflesh.

have u watch grindcore tape? they were doing this interview with justin when somebody was playing slayer's south of heaven from his car audio. man that tape featured loads of legendary band in there. like bolt thrower, napalm death, godflesh, carcass, morbid angel, etc... thumbup.gif

submit EP is the only pitch shifter album i'm after. not much into disensitized and infotainment...

Erk.. did watch it .. as I assume it surely has been an ages already (the tape) rite?  sad.gif But some of those band are worth mentioning here.. (bolt thrower, carcass, morbid angel (my all time favorite!)).. wonder what happend to them nowaday? Any idea xnobys? Except for Mike Ammot which I know is in Arcenemy now.  blush.gif
*
yup... the good and ever reliable VHS tape... flex.gif

not so sure but last time i heard that david vincent left morbid angel and was united with his wife in genitorturer (sp?).

ken owen of carcass had a brain tumour or something which had affected his body coordination. but he's recovering after the surgery and might be reunited with jeff walker in black star. amott and steer had formed a band called spiritual beggars shortly before the former forms archenemy. bill steer is currently with his stoner rock band firebird. i think i had posted somewhere in this thread about firebird complete with downloadable song taken from their debut album.

not so sure about bolt thrower though. but u can wiki them, i guess...

what's that first song of that EP... blaardy hell yummy industrious song  rclxm9.gif
*
it's gritter. thumbup.gif
that album is heavy as hell...
very much similar to godflesh's streetcleaner...

during their earlier years, korn did brought in fresh sound with their self titled debut album. heck even max cavalera cited them and deftones as the new band to look out for in 1994-5.

danielwan - how old are u man? a few circa 30 - 33 year old here i think...hehe

old is gold! haha

Added on February 8, 2007, 5:19 pm

i got into thrash but never really graduated into something more heavier...coz i guess the ol skool thrash is already loud and fast enough for me...tried getting into death metal but it just seemed 'plain' although it's really darker than thrash...black metal is a bit funny for me...hehe

guess i'm into fast riff and pounding drums...and killer solos...

who's older than 33 here btw?
*
yin,

30 yrs old metal fan with a 2 mths old little girl to boot here. rclxms.gif

had a first-hand experience with metallica's master of puppets in 88 and was hooked eversince...

remembers back then VSP (valentine sound production) cassette had a small triangular tag 'thrash metal' on every heavy album?
