I understand about that cause I'm a Muslim too. Actually, you should better off the Mass Gainers and focus more on real food.
sorry Sifu. I study as I am student. right after class, I work part time. the only time spent at home is for sleep & rest. hehehehe. not much time to prepare natural whole food. maybe one day. once I started working and actually a proper full time career. as for now, I am left with no choice but to rely on supplements

When is the time does you need calorie surplus? Isn't it that if you are aiming to increase mass, you should
ALWAYS have calorie surplus?
And how do you measure digestion rate?

my gym has a measurement tool where we measure Basal Metabolic Rate. from there, I can roughly plan to manipulate calorie. hehe.
when? well, obviously puasa (Ramadhan) lahhh. you of all people should know that calorie deficit occurs in Ramadhan

sorry for not answering your question sifu. How do I measure my digestion rate? logic. see how much food one consume. how many calories and stuff. and see what one makes out of it.
some people call it "high metabolism". I personally believe that is bull. 'high metabolism' is rare occurring.
it's how fast our digestive system digest the food. for an example, I am skinny. but I eat hell lots of food and high calorie yet I still don't gain weight. from there, I know I have a high digestion rate.
on the contrary, mesomorphs. they are on strict diet and they eat so little yet they don't lose much weight. that's an indication that their digestion rate is slow. badan slow nak 'utilize' the food consume
